View 4 Replies View RelatedI use safari on my imac. I was able to access a shared link (to access a briefcase) via a university website. It requires me to enter ID and password to access the briefcase. It also requires me to enter my ID and password whenever I click a new file in the briefcase. The shared link was okay until I let Safari remember my password. Now when I click the shared link, it says "Error 404! No such item". I am not able to access that shared link. Â
I tried to log on my imac with another user/account, and found out that the shared link is still working. I also tried to use my macbook and the link is working as well. So i guess that it must be something wrong when I let Safari remember my password the first time when I accessed that link. I have done Safari Reset and cleared all history, cookies, passwords, etc... but I am still not able to access that link under my own account. Â

I am a new Mac user, and everytime I open a file or document a link is put on my desktop. How can I turn this off. As one user put it it is very annoying.

I can't seem to have my mac linked via icloud to my ios devices. When I buy a song on my ipad, it will imediately show up on my iphone and vice versa. However, nothing shows up on my mac itunes. As well, if I buy a song through itunes on my mac, nothing shows up on either of the ios devices. I have icloud turned on on my mac. I've check and triple checked all the settings and all seem to be correct.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI know this question sounds obvious and there are a million threads on placing folders on the dock but my need is more specific:
I want to add a folder to the dock but when I click on that folder, I simply want it to open in finder. I don't want to click the folder and then view contents in in Grid or List view, I only want the finder to open with that folder's contents. Is this possible?
i have, or had, an applications folder next to the trash on my dock
but the link seems to have broken. when i click it now it just puts up
a big question mark.
i tried making an alias for the applications folder and putting that
on the dock in place of the broken one but that, while it works right
after i make it, soon breaks also.
what's this about and how do i get the applications folder back and
stable?
now that I have leopard installed and ready on my computer, I'm just itching to link up Smackbook with Spaces. has anyone been able to get this to work? I mean, installing virtual desktop at this point seems redundant and in leopard, the options for customizing the sudden motion sensor seem almost endless.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if it is possible to connect a desktop and laptop computer using apple share or bluetooth to share an internet connection that is connected through an ethernet port on the desktop. My internet company is crap so I need to find a way to cut out the router, which I have to reset all the time to get a normal internet speed.
Desktop is a Mac Pro bought last April, and the laptop is a 12" Powerbook G4. Both have bluetooth, airport, and the newest operating system.
In the keynote, at the end of the iPhoto for iPad demo, there was a brief demo of a new iCloud feature that would allow sharing of photos to a web link. I'm confused as to whether this is only in the iOS iPhoto app or, if as stated a new feature of iCloud, should it be a new feature of iPhoto 9 as well? Is this Apple's replacement for MobileMe's iWeb and iPhoto's Gallery?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just recently received my new iMac 27" i7 and have the SSD + HDD option, where the SSD contains OS + Applications and the HDD contains data. I read that moving the whole Home folder was not a good idea, therefore, I wanted to just move my Documents, Pictures and Download folder to the second internal HDD. I read an article/tutorial how to do this and this is what I followed (using Terminals):
Code:
cp -Rp ~/Documents /Volumes/Macintosh Data HD
chmod -R -N ~/Documents
rm -rf ~/Documents
ln -s /Volumes/Macintosh Data HD/Documents ~/Documents
However, when I try and type the symbolic link I get the error:
Code:
"ln: Documents: No such file or directory"
Because of this, the Documents folder on the Dock appears with a big question mark as it cannot locate the new Documents folder.
Any ideas how I can get the link working or if not try and restore the original documents folder and just move the entire Home folder over to the Hard Disk data drive?
(note: I don't have any documents in the folders as of yet so I haven't lost any important info!)
Anyway, one of my home folders for a user account has gone missing. when you are logged into the account it belongs to you can navigate to it via finder. However you cannot see the folder via finder from any other account. This account is NOT an admin. I had this problem when I was running tiger and it still remains now that I have leopard. 2Ghz INtel core 2 duo Aluminum iMac.

I just need to know how to upload folders of images to iCloud and send links to clients from my iphone when on location as was simple with MobileMe. I'm a professional photographer so it needs to be as easy as it was under Mobile Me. I've looked at several alternatives but they don't seem to give the same facilities of uploading folders from the Mac then sending the link from the iphone.

This doesn't happen all the time, but frequently enough to create a thread about it to find out what's going on.
I usually keep my desktop empty and use it to store stuff I'm going to process in the next hour anyway.
Sometimes my desktop is absolutely empty, but when I navigate to the following path: UserDesktop, the files do show up.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just received my Macbook Pro 2 days ago, I updated everything that needed to be updated. Now, I got a Yahoo! Mail Plus just so I can sync it onto mail, although I found out you can't sync folders which sucks, but whatever. My problems is the following: If I read my emails on my iphone, or even a regular pc using firefox or something, when I go into mail on my mac, all those messages still show as unread. And messages that I have deleted are appearing again.
