View 6 Repliesmy "services" menu has disappeared as an option in finder. When I try to access it by right-clicking a finder item (folder or file), it's just plain missing. However if I look for it under the finder menu bar, the arrow beside service says 'building'. But I've been waiting for hours and it doesn't look like anything's happening.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Snow Leopard Services menu items (or at least most of them) are now listed in Portuguese! I have no idea why this has happened or how to switch back to English.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI selected some text and went to the Services menu item and it said there were no Services that applicable. Did the same thing in Safari and there was a nice list.
Any idea how to make services appear for Firefox?
I was trying to install some services that I created using applescripts and ThisService. The problem I'm having is that Services is not available in the menu when I right click on a folder or file. Looking under Keyboard in the system preferences, I can see all of the different services that are availible. I have the ones I'd like to use checked but no services appear in the menu when I right click. I've tried resetting defaults in the preferences, logging in and out, restarting and nothing helps. I found another post that said open terminal and run this /System/Library/CoreServices/pbs. When I enter that in the terminal, I get this message "No languages specified - assuming English" and nothing changes. I'm running 10.6.8 and I know that Services used to be avalible in the menu.
View 5 Replies View RelatedYou know how context menus on the mac are sometimes slow? I've figured out this has to do with the services menu.. located under keyboard -->services in the left-hand sidebar. My question is how do apps put services in that menu.. and how do I remove rather than disable a specific menu item?
I guess my broader question is how do I completely uninstall applications when I no longer have the original app bundle? I'm just concerned about clutter acclumating over time.
I recently bought myself a Macbook Pro 13-inch model and I've been loving it so far. One thing that really bugs me is how bad the menu navigation is in OS X. I just read this on Macrumors and the only way to access menu from keyboard is by using ctrl+F2 key for which I have to press ctrl+fn+f2 key since F2 is a secondary function. Also, there is no way of going directly to the middle of the menu by keyboard shortcuts, right? If that is true, Mac OS X is still not polished enough for laptops. is there are a better way to control the menu items?

In the past, if I didn't move forward when Apple moved forward, all that happened was that I did not have access to new features. This time, with the demise of MobileMe and the introduction of iCloud, if I don't move forward I lose features, but even worse, even if I do move forward, I still lose features. In particular, the lack of syncronization under iCloud of Mail's Rules, Accounts, and Smart Mailboxes means that on our several machines I have to manually do updates multiple times, which of course leads to multiple mistakes. In my view, what Apple has done has the look and feel of customer abuse, something usually attributed to another large tech company. I can't avoid losing functionality, whether or not I move forward with Apple.

It works perfectly when I click on "Run" within Automator. My my new service shows up in the System Preferences/Keyboard Shortcuts/Services and I was able to give it a Keyboard Shortcut. However, it does not show up in any menu,ie, Finder/Services.
I can access to all i application (iCal, etc) but I can't access to the iDisk.
I try but when I put my Apple ID is refused the acess.

-Import files one at a time into 3rd party application using Automator. Challenge: -The application has no way to program a key command for edit > insert > file (that I could find)Failed tries with Automator:Recorded a "watch me do" sequence using the mouse. Sometimes it works and sometimes it glitches badly; the cursor moves very slowly in places I never recorded and the script runs for several minutes until I press the restart button. I believe that nothing changes on the machine between attempts - very peculiar.Recorded a "watch me do" sequence using 'control' + 'function' + 'f2' to highlight the apple in the menu bar at the top of the screen then navigated to edit > insert > file using the arrow keys. Unfortunately it doesn't work when run. In the workflow,"'control' + 'function' + 'f2'" is shown as"'control' + '(a symbol I don't know - see attached screenshot line 1 of the workflow)'"The arrow keys pressed are then not recognized at all. (Line 2 in the workflow is from pressing return.)A seemingly simple task is really perplexing me. I'm sure there's a simple solution though.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI remember seeing keyboard shortcuts such as Cmd-F2 that would allow access of the Application Menu. However, this does not work for me.
I have set the fn key to not be needed for function key access. That is, if I press f10, it acts as f10 rather than "mute."
How do I access the Application menu from the keyboard?
how do i access the boot menu on a non-intel mac? i thought it was option and D but that doesn't seem to work.
View 3 Replies View Relatedhow to create a bootable backup of my Macintosh HD on a LaCie 500GB USB external HDD which is 2-3 years old. I formatted the drive with a GUID partition table scheme, with the volume formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled), which I believe is the correct setup.
However, when I try to boot from the external HDD by holding down Option key during startup, I do not get the boot menu, instead the computer freezes at a blank grey screen and doesn't boot anything. If I remove the USB drive and do the same, the boot menu appears with Macintosh HD as the only choice (as would be expected).
Is there a menu bar app that allows quick access to the terminal.

I had a folder (called "Other") with read and write access for Joseph (Me), everyone, (unknown), and Joseph (Me, again), but for some reason I couldn't write to the folder - I only had read access even though three forms of me had read and write. I tried changing the permissions of the parent folder to read and write (which they already were for everyone, but I added my account too for the hell of it) and then applying it to the enclosed items, but that just added "wheel" to the Repairing permissions did nothing, I ended up just setting my entire Macintosh HD to read and write for everyone and a few other people, then applying to enclosed items. That worked, but then for some reason it changed my external hard drive's permissions to "Custom" for Me, Me, unknown, and everyone. I can't access my external at all now, and nothing happens when I try to change its permissions. There was a little checkbox that said "Ignore permissions"
View 10 Replies View RelatedI am using Numbers 09 and would like to use the checkbox option in one of my tables, but am wondering if you can incorporate that in to a SUMIF or SUMIFS equation
So:
=SUMIF(A1:A50,checked,B1:B50) or
=SUMIFS(B1:B50,A1:A50,checked,...)
Meaning sum cells in B1:B50 if its related cell in columns A is checked, depending on which equation you are familiar with.By checked, I mean the checkbox option in inspector under the cells tab within the drop down option.
I had set up file sharing between our two macs in our home (both 10.6) with no problems. But our iMac's disk blew out and was replaced, with 10.6 reinstalled.
Now I find that the iMac can see my MacBook Pro, but when I try to enable file sharing on the iMac, the checkbox for File Sharing refuses to take a check: it briefly displays a - sign then reverts to blank. I have triple-checked that the security settings are the same on the two machines, and that the file permissions for the listed files are okay (ie, the same on the two computers).I presume I am missing something on permissions, but I am at a total loss as to what.
In iTunes 11.4 (which just updated today) - the Sync Music checkbox is missing for my iOS devices. The devices are the latest released versions from Apple (just verified).
