ICloud :: MobileMe Services That No Longer Sync After Moving To It
Apr 27, 2012I installed Lion on one of my MacBooks and am moving to iCloud from Mobile Me. I need to keep using 10.6.8 on my work MacBook for use with Adobe applications that I use daily. Will I stilll be able to access my Mail account on the MacBook that isn't running Lion?

Jun 25, 2012In the past, if I didn't move forward when Apple moved forward, all that happened was that I did not have access to new features.This time, with the demise of MobileMe and the introduction of iCloud, if I don't move forward I lose features, but even worse, even if I do move forward, I still lose features. In particular, the lack of syncronization under iCloud of Mail's Rules, Accounts, and Smart Mailboxes means that on our several machines I have to manually do updates multiple times, which of course leads to multiple mistakes. In my view, what Apple has done has the look and feel of customer abuse, something usually attributed to another large tech company. I can't avoid losing functionality, whether or not I move forward with Apple.Â

MobileMe :: Can No Longer Sign In To It And ICloud
Jun 16, 2012Writing this on behalf of my dad who is not that technical, he is the one having this problem. First he noticed that mail in his the mail.app was not working. He then tried logging into iCloud on the web but could not. He has one Apple ID which won't allow you to login anywhere, not iCloud, nor even this Apple Support Page.The Apple ID and password are definately correct and have never been changed. We have tried going to [url] to reset the password. After entering the Apple ID and hitting next, then selecting the option to answer security questions, first question, date of birth, comes back and says date of birth does not match records. So went back and selected email authentication. It then says that an email has been sent. The problem here is that he cannot access his email to receive the email notification. Mail is not working because of the problem with the account. Also cannot log into iCloud either to receive the email. I don't really want to create a new Apple ID, as this will cause a lot of hassle.Â

Feb 22, 2012Before iCloud I had a paid MobileMe account which I where using to sync preferences, mailboxes etc. using MobileMe Sync. After I migrated to iCloud, this feature were no longer available. It is about 1/2 year now, and I think it was a very essential feature for us having multiple Macs.

With the introduction of Outlook 2011 for Mac, many Mac users are asking the burning question around how to sync Outlook 2011 for Mac with the native Mac Address Book. This is especially relevant as many users now sync their mobile phone contacts (Blackberry, Android, iPhone) with the native Address Book contacts manager. For example, RIM�s Desktop Manager for Mac syncs with iCal and the Address Book and relies on Sync Services to sync with Outlook 2011 contacts. If you will now be managing your contacts inside Outlook, you will need a way to sync these contacts back to the native Address Book.
This is also true if you are using Scrubly to clean up your Address Book contacts. You will need to turn on Sync Services inside Outlook to sync your newly cleaned up contacts from Address Book to Outlook Contacts. Follow the steps below.
Before we begin, you should note that Outlook 2011 will sync contacts from Address Book, and you can sync e-mail accounts with Mail. However, Outlook 2011 won�t sync events or tasks from iCal (in part because Microsoft�s primary design goal with Outlook was to make it work with Exchange). Outlook 2011 also does not support CalDAV.
Setting up Sync Services for Mac:
1. Before turning on Sync Services inside Outlook 2011, be sure to turn off all other 3rd party sync services you may be running in the background. Once Outlook 2011 has completed its initial sync with Address Book, you may turn these services back on again.
2. As a precaution, make a backup of your Address Book contacts. File > Export > Address Book Archive. It�s important to make a backup of your data after you clean it up and before you sync. This way if there are problems you can erase and import the clean backup file.
3. In Outlook 2011, open Outlook Preferences by clicking Outlook > Preferences
4. Click Sync Services and select Turn on Sync Services for Contacts. Outlook 2011 does not yet support sync for iCal.
5. Select the accounts you would like to sync, (i.e. Address Book or MobileMe). Note that Outlook 2011 does not support MobileMe calendar or tasks sync at this time.
Troubleshooting Sync Services for Mac:
The above steps are really quite easy, however, many users have complained that syncing does not occur after following these steps. Here�s a few troubleshooting tips you can follow in the event this happens to you.
Important: Be sure to back up your Address Book and Outlook Contacts before testing any of these Troubleshooting steps.
Turn on iSync
1. Launch iSync, located in the Applications > Utilities folder
2. Open preferences window in iSync Application Menu
3. Check �Enable syncing on this computer�. Sometimes this option seems to be disabled or you can�t check or uncheck this option after starting iSync. In this case, wait for iSync to complete the sync process and then the option will be available again.
4. Reset Sync History. Important: If you are using the new MobileMe Calendar, resetting sync data is not an appropriate troubleshooting step to solve calendar sync issues. Instead, please see Troubleshooting new MobileMe Calendar issues. If you�re not sure how to tell if you�re using the old or new MobileMe Calendar, see this article.
Delete Plist Files
1. Force quit all applications currently running.
2. Go > Home > Library > Preferences
3. Search for all files containing �com.microsoft.outlook.XXXXX.plist� drag these files to the Trash
4. Search for the file �com.microsoft.SyncServicesAgent.plist� and drag this file to the Trash
5. Start Outlook
6. Tools > Sync Services and confirm that �Turn on Sync Services for Contacts� is checked on
Close and Re-Start Sync Services Agent
1. Force Quit Outlook
2. Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor
3. Look for the Sync Services Agent under Process Name
4. Highlight this process and click Quit in the upper left
5. Close Activity Monitor
6. Re-Start Outlook

Jun 5, 2014I have an iMac running Mavericks 10.9.3 and Outlook 2011 (Fully up to date) and sync services aren't working. I've enabled them within Outlook and tried resetting Sync Services in terminal using the following command:Â

Outlook is full of contacts and calendar entries and I would expect to see all of these within Calendar and Contacts on OS X (I haven't even had a prompt to merge with Calendar and Contacts)Â I'm trying to get this work so that I connect a Blackberry and sync using the Blackberry Desktop Manager.Â

It works perfectly when I click on "Run" within Automator. My my new service shows up in the System Preferences/Keyboard Shortcuts/Services and I was able to give it a Keyboard Shortcut. However, it does not show up in any menu,ie, Finder/Services.

Oct 1, 2010I was trying to send an email attachment through Finder, and found out that I no longer have the "Services" tab. It's there, bot constantly says Building... So I went into System Preferences, and tried to see if my Keyboard settings were weird, and yeah they were. At System Preferences>Keyboard>Keyboard Shortcuts>Services there is nothing there! So it's like all of my stuff was deleted, how can I get this back? It's really worrying me that some of my system stuff is gone. I haven't downloaded or installed anything lately, and I have rebooted many times.

Jun 23, 2012iDisk no longer appears on finder. Need to back it up before end of the month. Cant seem to do it from the web application where I can still see idisk. I'd like to select all (including the folder structure) and drop it /copy it to a new location locally on a disk I can see on my imac finder for instance. iDisk we application lets me select all, I just cant drop it anywhere. iDisk had gotten turned off in the sidebar and could be turned on using finder > preferences > sidebar and clicking idisk. When the transfer was made finder to finder all the files started coping over.

Sep 15, 2009I'd like to synch my Windows Outlook (Calendar & Contacts) with MobileMe, but I am not sure about what information will actually synch, and what information takes priority when synching. Will my contacts & calendar entries on MobileMe be synched/copied to Outlook as well, or will the Outlook contacts/calendar entries be added to MobileMe, and everything that is on MobileMe now will be deleted?
There is no option in the Windows MobileMe Control Panel to determine which one, MobileMe or Outlook, is the Default information to synch, and I don't want to lose the contacts on MobileMe.
I am particular concerned about conflicts, and how to determine which, MobileMe or Outlook, will override the other in case of conflicts.

Jan 6, 2010I have an iMac at home and a MacBook Pro for school and I'd like to sync them together. More specifically, I'm looking into syncing my iCal database as well as my Address Book database. I do not wish to pay for MobileMe, as I find it too expensive and don't have so much money to waste at this moment of the year, but I tried it and it worked like a charm. It's just overpriced though, especially for a particular (maybe for an enterprise they will use every buck out of this service, but not me). I was wondering if there was a nice application for that... or an Automator script, of if I should try and figure out how to code my own Automator script?

Mar 27, 2012Mail 4.5 started to get wonky a couple of days ago- taking forever to load. All of the the imap server began rejecting my password which had not changed for months. So I retyped it. Nothing. Quite mail and restarted mail. Nothing. Deleted the account, restarted & reloaded. Nothing. Restarted the machine. Launched Mail, nothing. Check for updates, nothing. Can login directly to iCloud and works fine on my iOS devices but nothing on good ole' mail. Â
