How to keep the same functions that Me provides, such as synch keychains etc?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed Lion on one of my MacBooks and am moving to iCloud from Mobile Me. I need to keep using 10.6.8 on my work MacBook for use with Adobe applications that I use daily. Will I stilll be able to access my Mail account on the MacBook that isn't running Lion?

In the past, if I didn't move forward when Apple moved forward, all that happened was that I did not have access to new features. This time, with the demise of MobileMe and the introduction of iCloud, if I don't move forward I lose features, but even worse, even if I do move forward, I still lose features. In particular, the lack of syncronization under iCloud of Mail's Rules, Accounts, and Smart Mailboxes means that on our several machines I have to manually do updates multiple times, which of course leads to multiple mistakes. In my view, what Apple has done has the look and feel of customer abuse, something usually attributed to another large tech company. I can't avoid losing functionality, whether or not I move forward with Apple.Â

Writing this on behalf of my dad who is not that technical, he is the one having this problem. First he noticed that mail in his the mail.app was not working. He then tried logging into iCloud on the web but could not. He has one Apple ID which won't allow you to login anywhere, not iCloud, nor even this Apple Support Page. The Apple ID and password are definately correct and have never been changed. We have tried going to [url] to reset the password. After entering the Apple ID and hitting next, then selecting the option to answer security questions, first question, date of birth, comes back and says date of birth does not match records. So went back and selected email authentication. It then says that an email has been sent. The problem here is that he cannot access his email to receive the email notification. Mail is not working because of the problem with the account. Also cannot log into iCloud either to receive the email. I don't really want to create a new Apple ID, as this will cause a lot of hassle.Â

I have an old pre-Intel G5 Mac desktop and want to keep using Mobile me Mail and Entourage because they work so well and I have been using them for 10 years. I cannot get the mail system to work having moved everything else to iCloud. Followed the instructions but it just does not work and the mail.mac.com server will not accept my password. Any ideas?

I have a MacBook Pro (Mac OS X ver. 10.7.4), an iPhone and an iPad 2, I am not syncing iCal with MobileMe on any of these units, In fact iCal is not even an option in MobileMe System Preferences. I read something about iSync which I do not have in my Applications folder.Â

A small one, but on my Macbook the local iDisk displaysa purple icon with a cloud, but on the iMac it's still the .Mac logo. I wonder why. I think, think, that the contents are the same - but it doesn't fill me with confidence that they're syncing together...

View 6 Replies View RelatedI dont know whether I am being stupid or whether it is simply not possible, but I am havign issues syncing new calendars to mobileme.
On iCal I have two headings, 'On my Mac', and 'MobileMe'. Any calendar that is created under 'On my Mac', will not sync with mobileme, and is not in the cloud. I find this odd and I can't seem to figure out the problem. Any idea why this might be?
So I can finally sync with MobileMe (no thanks to Apple, who have still not replied to my email a week later). My contacts are fine, but the calendar only shows my Home and Work calendars. Why aren't the rest showing up? Am I missing something?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI created a new service for displaying my local weather. I followed the MacBreak Video to do this: [URL]
It works perfectly when I click on "Run" within Automator. My my new service shows up in the System Preferences/Keyboard Shortcuts/Services and I was able to give it a Keyboard Shortcut. However, it does not show up in any menu,ie, Finder/Services.
I have an iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011)Â running ITUNES version 12.0.1.26.Â
2 days ago ITUNES got locked up and would not quit - even attempting a force quit which did not work. I then tried a reboot of the Mac which gave me another opportunity to force quit the app which was successful..
Ever since then ITUNES appears not to be working with my mobile device IP4S. I tired the IPAD which seems to work.
I did a hard reboot on the IP4.

I was trying to send an email attachment through Finder, and found out that I no longer have the "Services" tab. It's there, bot constantly says Building... So I went into System Preferences, and tried to see if my Keyboard settings were weird, and yeah they were. At System Preferences>Keyboard>Keyboard Shortcuts>Services there is nothing there! So it's like all of my stuff was deleted, how can I get this back? It's really worrying me that some of my system stuff is gone. I haven't downloaded or installed anything lately, and I have rebooted many times.

iDisk no longer appears on finder. Need to back it up before end of the month. Cant seem to do it from the web application where I can still see idisk. I'd like to select all (including the folder structure) and drop it /copy it to a new location locally on a disk I can see on my imac finder for instance. iDisk we application lets me select all, I just cant drop it anywhere. iDisk had gotten turned off in the sidebar and could be turned on using finder > preferences > sidebar and clicking idisk. When the transfer was made finder to finder all the files started coping over.

Mail 4.5 started to get wonky a couple of days ago- taking forever to load. All of the the imap server began rejecting my password which had not changed for months. So I retyped it. Nothing. Quite mail and restarted mail. Nothing. Deleted the account, restarted & reloaded. Nothing. Restarted the machine. Launched Mail, nothing. Check for updates, nothing. Can login directly to iCloud and works fine on my iOS devices but nothing on good ole' mail. Â

So I have set both my MacBookPro and my iPhone to sync my AddressBook via iCloud. The sync does seem to happen fine when I reboot my iPhone. But it does not seem to happen automatically whenever I change my Address Book on my MacBookPro.and I thought that is the whole point of this feature, isn't it?It seems to work fine when I click the Sync button in iTunes ...

Two related questions:
1.iCloud is in my browser but I'd like to keep my calendar and contacts etc. open all the time outside Safari and on the dock.
2. I have iCloud in my iphone 4 and ipad2 , latest OS,but can't see icon or keep icloud open there?Do I really have to go through Safari everytime I want to see my icloud calendar or contacts? As you know, there's already my calendar and contacts icons from before iCloud. There and accessible but not synced to changes from my laptop.
