At transition, I initially want to keep my me.com/mac.com email and then (later) seamlessly move to Lion and full iCloud.  Will this be possible and if so, can anyone see necessary tweaking to ensure that my retained me.com email will continue to  forward or receive from external email accounts?

What If Device Or Computer Doesn't Meet ICloud System Requirements For Moving From MobileMe

Jun 20, 2012

Accessing the URL me.com/move is not possible- browser redirects me to Find My iPhone. When I attempt to enter my legacy MobileMe address in the iCloud System Preference panel, I am prevented because it is taken despite the fact it is assigned to me. Infinite Loop of frustration: being constantly redirected by support documents to a page that does not exist. My me.com email address is verified in my Apple ID settings page.

I have an old pre-Intel G5 Mac desktop and want to keep using Mobile me Mail and Entourage because they work so well and I have been using them for 10 years. I cannot get the mail system to work having moved everything else to iCloud. Followed the instructions but it just does not work and the mail.mac.com server will not accept my password. Any ideas?

ICloud :: Migration Option For Devices That Doesn't Meet Requirements?

Jun 25, 2012

We have a Family MobileMe Pack and have an iMac with Snow Leopard. When I chose to move 2 accounts that the iMac uses to iCloud, I selected the option to "keep using your email after MobileMe ends" so that these accounts will still work on Mail for the iMac.

When I check the accounts under the Master account, these 2 accounts show (Remove Account) instead of (Migrated to iCloud) as is the case for my kids' accounts.  Now I'm confused as to whether these 2 accounts are really migrated or not. And I'm not sure I can move the Master account to iCloud before these 2 accounts have been migrated. I've read I cannot manage any of the family accounts anymore once the Master account moves to iCloud. But time is running out.

Software :: Shared Library Errors - System Not Meet Requirements To Update

May 28, 2008

Getting error message:
The application "Word" could not be launched because of a shared library error: "-<Microsoft Word><CarbonLib><CFMPriv_System><>"

Getting similar message when I tried opening other Microsoft, Photoshop, palm desktop, and AOL applications. (Since the only application that now opens is Final Draft, perhaps this is sign that my focus needs remain in on screenplays?) Tried downloading and reinstalling my current update version: 10.4.11 It said my system doesn't meet the requirements to update (even though it currently exists as this & I have enough disc memory available.)

OS X Server :: Software Update Service On Tiger - Saying System Is Up-to-date

Nov 13, 2007

I'm setting up a tiger server to serve software updates to the clients, but the server doesn't seem to want to serve the updates. The client can connect to the server, but then shows the user a message saying the computer is up to date. I know that is not true, and I have all the updates mirrored, so why is it not working?

If nobody has any idea, is there somewhere that says exactly what the software update client goes through to check if there are updates available, so I can follow it manually?

MacBook Pro :: After System Date / Time Reset It Can't Open Any Programs

Mar 30, 2012

Booted my macbook pro 2009 and the time was reset to 2001, a prompt asked me to change settings or else the computer might function erratically. So i changed the date and time settings as suggested but then suddenly it stopped working. I restarted the computer but i could no longer open any programs. My dock was gone, the screen background was changed back to the original and i couldn't access the system preferences. Every time i click on the apple icon the screen just refreshes and that's it.

My laptop hasn't been turned off for the last 48 hrs before this happened. i was working and uploading huge files to dropbox and since my Internet connection was really slow, i had to keep it on so it would upload continuously. Was thinking this might have caused some malfunction.

OS X :: Sort By The Date A File Is Placed Into A Folder (Date Modified/Created Not Working)

Jun 3, 2010

I have a folder where I place an ever growing collection of my favorite songs. Before I switched to Mac, on Windows, when I wanted to revisit songs I most recently added to the folder, I would sort the songs by the Date Modified and it would order the files I placed in the folder by date.

In OSX, however, there must be a slightly different meaning to "Date Modified," as it does not quite sort my songs by the order they were added. It gets some of it right, but there's plenty of files that are out of order--tune "x", which I know was placed in the folder a week ago is actually listed further down the list with songs placed in the folder months ago.

Is there a way to have OSX sort files in order of the date it was placed in a folder? Neither "Date Modified" nor "Date Created" works 100% as I thought it would. Or is the OSX definition of Date Modified/Created slightly different than Windows?
