This morning when I turned my Mac on the date was set back in 2000 and it my wireless network settings were lost. I reconnected to my router and eventually the clock fixed itself.

Because a user with the Mac OS X install disc can gain unrestricted access to your computer, you should keep the disc in a safe place. To reset the administrator password using the Mac OS X disc:
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc and restart the computer.
2. When you hear the startup tone, hold down the C key until you see the spinning gear.
3. When the Installer appears, choose Utilities > Reset Password.
4. Follow the onscreen instructions to change the password.
5. Quit the Installer and restart your computer while holding down the mouse button to eject the disc.
But didn't received any CDs from him so I don't know what version of CD I need it also I am new to macbook so its fully confusing please somebody help me how to reset my password.
Booted my macbook pro 2009 and the time was reset to 2001, a prompt asked me to change settings or else the computer might function erratically. So i changed the date and time settings as suggested but then suddenly it stopped working. I restarted the computer but i could no longer open any programs. My dock was gone, the screen background was changed back to the original and i couldn't access the system preferences. Every time i click on the apple icon the screen just refreshes and that's it.
My laptop hasn't been turned off for the last 48 hrs before this happened. i was working and uploading huge files to dropbox and since my Internet connection was really slow, i had to keep it on so it would upload continuously. Was thinking this might have caused some malfunction.

I forgot my password after not needing it for quite some time. I tried to do a reset by pressing the button and then making a new password but I keep getting error messages after verifying the new passwords. The error message was something that airport could not be configured.

The Mac then asked me to restart so I did but when it came back on I logged in as normal but it won't connect to my wifi unless I type in the password. I've tried Utilities > keychain manager but all I get is 'Access to this item is restricted' (when I click on show password and login again). My ipad and iphone are still okay and can access the wifi fine.

I recently purchased a used imac g4 from a friend but I cannot seem to get it started. I tried to log in with the master password but do not have the password or install disk for OSX. I asked my friend about it and he said the same thing, he lost the user and master password including install disk. I took the comp from his hands anyway, it's in new condition and he never really used it, just forgot about it I suppose. It also seems that on startup the mac searches for disks and servers, so it could of been a part of a network system???????
I would like to know if there is a way to get into the bios and reset the whole system without password prompts and all that. Which is the best way to do this?
I have the mac osx install disk from my ibook but I tried to boot the disk and it's not booting. I also have the install disk for os tiger and that's not booting either. There must be a super secure lock on the system.
I've just noticed ical has jul 17th, when I launch ical in corrects itself, when I close ical, it returns to jul 17th.

When i checkd the "Date and Time" settings in the sys preferences, it was showin Jan 01 2001. Since it automatically updates the date n time frm apple server, it immediately took today's date n time and everything else is working fine now.
But, am curious about why this actually had to happen? I hadnt changed the date n time when i had shut it down last night. What could be the issue here? Is my macbook unable to remember date and time? or Something like BIOS battery is dead?
I installed Leopard about 3 weeks ago and have been very pleased with it; however, since then every so often and when booting up my G5, it shuts off again. I boot again and a small window appears asking me to reset the date and time. Each time this happens I am able to reset the time and date correctly in System Preferences. The computer is about 3 years old so it may be the internal battery and nothing to do with Leopard. Or, could it be a bug in Leopard?

been trying to log onto airport with my pismo at work. log in attempt pops up a window claiming that my password is wrong...but system admin says and demonstrates it isn't with other laptops...plus, I can log into non-password protected wifi in the building no problem...what's going on? Once the reboot was complete I had lost my system time (which had been reset to December 31, 2000 and my background had been replaced with the original generic MAC background. I have been unable to find the source of this issue and I am unsure how to fix this. I was able to change my clock by adjusting the Date & Time Preferences and fix my background image as well, but I am concerned that this is a temporary fix. Has anyone else experienced this with a system update?

View 2 Replies View RelatedFirst of all, everything works after updating to 10.7.3, I never really had issues with WiFi dropping after wake up, maybe once in 6 months. After 10.7.3, I saw WiFi reconnect after my iMac woke up the first time, but after that, it doesn't happen any more, and WiFi is disconnected everytime it wakes up, without automatic attempt to reconnect, just the grey WiFi icon. Although reconnecting is easier, I can select my WiFi from the available WiFi signal list, in the past I had to turn off WiFi and then back on before I could select my WiFi. I'm on mid 2011 iMac 21.5".
