ICloud :: Migration Option For Devices That Doesn't Meet Requirements?
Jun 25, 2012
We have a Family MobileMe Pack and have an iMac with Snow Leopard. When I chose to move 2 accounts that the iMac uses to iCloud, I selected the option to "keep using your email after MobileMe ends" so that these accounts will still work on Mail for the iMac.
When I check the accounts under the Master account, these 2 accounts show (Remove Account) instead of (Migrated to iCloud) as is the case for my kids' accounts. Now I'm confused as to whether these 2 accounts are really migrated or not. And I'm not sure I can move the Master account to iCloud before these 2 accounts have been migrated. I've read I cannot manage any of the family accounts anymore once the Master account moves to iCloud. But time is running out.
At transition, I initially want to keep my me.com/mac.com email and then (later) seamlessly move to Lion and full iCloud. Will this be possible and if so, can anyone see necessary tweaking to ensure that my retained me.com email will continue to forward or receive from external email accounts?
Accessing the URL me.com/move is not possible- browser redirects me to Find My iPhone. When I attempt to enter my legacy MobileMe address in the iCloud System Preference panel, I am prevented because it is taken despite the fact it is assigned to me. Infinite Loop of frustration: being constantly redirected by support documents to a page that does not exist. My me.com email address is verified in my Apple ID settings page.
I have an old pre-Intel G5 Mac desktop and want to keep using Mobile me Mail and Entourage because they work so well and I have been using them for 10 years. I cannot get the mail system to work having moved everything else to iCloud. Followed the instructions but it just does not work and the mail.mac.com server will not accept my password. Any ideas?
I am trying to install the 10.4.9 upgrade on my powerpc G5 and I keep getting a message telling me that my startup disk doesn't meet the system requirements for that upgrade. I am using 10.4.11 now and have tried upgrading in increments to reach 10.4.9, but even 10.4.2 won't install.
When I downloaded a upgrade package from Apple [URL] for the Mac OS X v10.6.2 Update, it failed to install on my hard drive. The installation program says: "Mac OS X Update Combined can't be installed on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update." According to the Disk Utility, the Partition Map Scheme is GUID Partition Table. Some people have listed this as a requirement. What is the real reason for the failure?
I have a new iMac with Leopard. When my files were transferred from my older iMac, Safari didn't load. I downloaded Safari, but two days later it disappeared. Now when I try to download Safari from the web I get the following message when I select the Hard Drive as the destination:
"You cannot install Safari 3 Beta on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update."
Getting error message: The application "Word" could not be launched because of a shared library error: "-<Microsoft Word><CarbonLib><CFMPriv_System><>"
Getting similar message when I tried opening other Microsoft, Photoshop, palm desktop, and AOL applications. (Since the only application that now opens is Final Draft, perhaps this is sign that my focus needs remain in on screenplays?) Tried downloading and reinstalling my current update version: 10.4.11 It said my system doesn't meet the requirements to update (even though it currently exists as this & I have enough disc memory available.)
Model Name: MacBook Pro Model Identifier: MacBookPro8,1 Processor Name: Intel Core i7 Processor Speed: 2.7 GHz Number of Processors: 1 Total Number of Cores: 2 L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB L3 Cache: 4 MB Memory: 4 GB Boot ROM Version:MBP81.0047.B27 SMC Version (system):1.68f98
This is the model I have. Also I can see my photos in Iphotos but when I go and try to update a photo in the edit function it is blank but I can see it at the bottom in the stripe.
Is there a complete list of all the software requirements to use iCloud? I thought I just had to upgrade my Mac OS, which I did. My iPhone is already running iOS 5. But now it looks like I have to upgrade Pages. What are *all* of the software requirements? I'd like to know before I continue buying software.
I don't have the up to date system requirements to run iCloud on my mac but would still like to access my email on my mac. I think I need to update my settings, but am not sure what to do.
I have a new scanner and I installed the drivers. It's showing fine in Photoshop CS3 but the window for it is awkward and small and barely has any features to it (there is no selection to for Advanced either). I figured I should try to use Image Capture instead, hoping to have better luck and more features. However Image Capture is not allowing me to go to 'Devices > Browse Devices' because there is no 'Devices' menu listed at all. I've restarted, unplugged things, plugged devices back in. It just says 'No Camera or Scanner Selected'. the Command B is not even working either.
just want to inform you, I have just maked the migration to my new MBP retina and have a problem that it will freeze only option is to boot in safe mode.
Have deinstalled apps which could be the problem such as Paralles desktop, Symantec Endtime protection, SMC Fan... still have the problem with all users. Deleted the Startubitems, launchagents and deamons still the same problem.
So I wanted to make a complete reinstalltion and here is the problem the apple server do not let me make the reinstallation. This version of Mac OS x 10.7 cannot be installed on this computer Answer for the support they have to get in contact with the Itunes department this can take 2 days. So I can only enjoy my mbp in safe mode.
I accidentally removed my HD from under the Devices folder in Finder when I was trying to drag and drop songs into iTunes. I assume there must be an easy way to get it to show up there again, I just am not sure what that is. It got dragged into whatever folder I was in in Finder and just kinda poof it was gone...
I am trying to reinstall clean Snow Leopard on my iMac. I made a partition on my iMac internal HD(on the same physical drive as a system) for Time machine and ran backup.
After that I started up with Snow Leopard DVD, used Disk utility to clean old system partition and installed Snow Leopard.
But when I run Mingration assistant, it doesn't see Time Machine disk to restore. I see TM partitioning in finder and it's look OK, but migration assistant doesn't recognize it.
How I could force migration assitant to recognize backup? Or how I could migrate my setting from this backup?
I'm moving from a MacBook Pro running 10.6.8 to a MBP running 10.7.5. I thought this would be pretty simple ... just attach my Snow Leopard Time Machine external drive to the Lion MBP and run Migration Assistant.
But when I go through the MA steps, MA does not see my TM drive. I've made sure I have the latest upgrades and have run Disk Utility's First Aid on the TM drive.
Ideas? I know I can try MA with other interfaces but using TM allows me to work on my old computer until my new one is ready.
I have a Macbook running Tiger. I've been recently hipped to the fact that I can get certain option for lots of apps by pressing option+click when I open a program.
While this seemed to work fine for quite awhile it doesn't seem to be working at all now.
I understand that I need to completely close the program for it to work, but whether I close it with control+Q or by using the drag down menu, option+click doesn't bring up the desired options.
I thought iCloud would sync all of my devices. For example, when I bookmark something on my iPad, it doesn't show up on my iMac. I have everything checked off in sysystem preferences for all devices under iCloud and still no sync. What to do?
I have a macbook pro, iphone 4, and iMac. Both computers are running Lion and my iphone 4 is up to date.
I believe I set up iCloud correctly on all three devices. However, only the iMac and the iPhone seem to be syncing properly. For some reason, mail sent from me.com via my macbook pro doesn't show up in my other devices. Also, iCal entries made on my macbook pro are also not showing up.
