OS X :: Unable To Load Date And Time / Time & Date Crashes
Sep 20, 2009Starting yesterday, I cannot load Time & Date (either from System Prefs or from the menu bar). I get the beachball and I have to Force Quit System Prefs.
I tried Repairing Permissions and rebooting but it didn't help.I tried deleting .plist entries (as per a related thread on the Internet) and rebooting and that didn't work either.I tried logging off and logging in with another account and the problem is still there.I hope I can get some help because it's driving me nuts. I travel a lot and need to change my time zone. If you need a crash report from me, please tell me how to get it from Console bc I don't know where to look for it!
P.S. I am using old OSX 10.4.11

May 22, 2008I am on Tiger 10.4.11 on Mac Book Pro Intel duo. All updates except for Parallels installed. Have run permissions repairs and preferential treatment. Tried to delete preferences for system ... Every time I try to uncheck the box marked or open the Date and Time preferences, it freezes and have to force quit.
MacBook Pro :: After System Date / Time Reset It Can't Open Any Programs
Mar 30, 2012Booted my macbook pro 2009 and the time was reset to 2001, a prompt asked me to change settings or else the computer might function erratically. So i changed the date and time settings as suggested but then suddenly it stopped working. I restarted the computer but i could no longer open any programs. My dock was gone, the screen background was changed back to the original and i couldn't access the system preferences. Every time i click on the apple icon the screen just refreshes and that's it.
My laptop hasn't been turned off for the last 48 hrs before this happened. i was working and uploading huge files to dropbox and since my Internet connection was really slow, i had to keep it on so it would upload continuously. Was thinking this might have caused some malfunction.

Sep 30, 2008So I shut down my computer earlier today for the first time in weeks. I restarted it and then left for a few hours for dinner.
I come home and I look at the last time MobileMe Sync and Time Machine did their things. They say they did them at 7:45. I look at the clock on my cable box and on my iPhone, both say 6:45.
Weird that the MacBook's time is wrong. I go into Time Date settings. I see that when the MacBook does the "Auto locate where you are so that we can set the appropriate time zone, etc. the MacBook things I'm in Rexford, Idaho.
I haven't been to Idaho in about 25 years, and my MacBook has been sitting in Southern Kalifornia for the last one year since I bought it.I've tried to have the MacBook auto-locate again, and it keeps finding me us in Rexford, idaho.
Software :: Time And Date Gets Corrupted / Unable To Set Date And Time
May 8, 2009I'm running OSX 10.5.8 on a G4 iBook. Somehow my Time & Date files got corrupted which prevented me from getting on to the internet. When I discovered the problem, I threw them away, thinking a restart would create them again. I was wrong.
Now my computer doesn't know what time or year it is, causing various problems. I don't have back-up 10.5 disks to extract the time & date package.Can I download a replacement anywhere?
Or can someone email the files to me? I don't know what they're called but, if you search time and date, there are only two (and please tell me what folders they're in too)

Aug 5, 2010My date and time resets each time my mac sleeps or is reset or if I open date and time options. It keeps sending emails of my old reminders from 2008/2009 from ical and my to-do list emails me its reminders. This happens every time I open my comp or even just open date and time options. I also get the ical reminder notification that pops up freezes on my screen.

Jun 30, 2010We got a refurbished Alu MB for an intern and the time is not displaying properly. If I check the "Set date & time automatically", the digital and analog clock is showing different times. See picture. Also, when I go in Time Zone, I set Eastern time, it will set it, but when I go back to preference, it sets back to GMT.
It's running 10.5.6 if that helps.

Apr 8, 2012Over heated my battery and it popped out of its casing. Restarted it with no battery and worked fine. Never used the battery because charge rail is no good. Used it this morning to file tax returns. After I finished their was a system update that required a restart and now the computer is stuck on the start up screen with spinning wheel of death.

Nov 13, 2007I'm setting up a tiger server to serve software updates to the clients, but the server doesn't seem to want to serve the updates. The client can connect to the server, but then shows the user a message saying the computer is up to date. I know that is not true, and I have all the updates mirrored, so why is it not working?
If nobody has any idea, is there somewhere that says exactly what the software update client goes through to check if there are updates available, so I can follow it manually?

Dec 10, 2010I've had time machine running for about 10 months. Today I needed to rely on it for the first time to restore a MySQL database I deleted by accident. To my horror the last backup in Time Machine was six months out of date even though I work on this database every day! I've completely lost faith in it and I'm feeling really let down. Is this a common problem? Have I got a setting wrong or is Time Machine just a complete waste of time?

She went out for half an hour and when she returned the macbook had shut down.
The date is showing as January 1st 2001 and the clock began the time at 00:00.
Everything else on the computer is fine, but she cannot correct the date and time.
When she tries restarting the computer she is given a warning that the date and time are incorrect but still cannot fix it.

Mac Pro :: Can't See Date And Time When Safari Is Opened?
May 17, 2012Ok so if I have everything closed I can see the date and time on the upper right and everything else like normal. If I open up any other program like itunes I can see the date and time like normal. However as soon as I open up safari the date and time disapears. If I switch between safari and any open program like itunes the time reappears. Same thing if I have safari open and click on the desktop it brings up finder and the time shows again. Not sure if this has anything to do with it but when Im in safari I cant open any of the menus on top (file, edit, view, history, etc.). Ive tried clicking on them and using the shortcut keys and nothing works. I can still use safari fine other than that. This all started after the last system update I had a few days ago. Ive triend resetting my computer and shutting it down but nothing seems to help.

PowerPC :: Cannot Access Time & Date Preferences
Sep 15, 2010My Powerbook G4 Titanium is running OSX Tiger and will not open the Date & Time preferences - instead it gives the error message 'System Preferences closed down unexpectedly' with an option to send info to Apple.
This is an issue because the date has reset to 1970 and when I start the mac the time is always 04:00. I tried leaving it connected to the wi-fi overnight to see if the time servers would do their thing, but no luck.
