Feb 13, 2012when i sync my camrea to my Macbook all the photos go in but i cant seem tp find any of my videos. There on the camrea, i can view them but i cant find them on iphoto.

Feb 21, 2012I have trouble finding my secure home network with my Mac and iPad, though my iPhone finds it. If I leave the network unsecured, I find it immediately, though when I secure it with a WPA 2, it disappears from the Airport network list.

Apr 9, 2012For some reason, my digital camera records movies in quicktime format. I also recently purchased an iPad and I have started taking short home videos on that as well. I want to back these movies up onto a DVD but for some reason I cannot burn the quicktime videos. My main reason for wanting to do this is to preserve the movies (they are movies of my kids that we'll want to watch many years from now, long after my computer and iPad are dead). The second reason is to free up space on the iPad. What is the best way to backup home video to preserve them (forever) and free up space on my devices?

Jan 2, 2010I just got my first Mac and I am trying to integrate it into my home network with a number of Windows PCs. I have turned on sharing on the Mac and on all of the PCs. The Mac finds the router and connects to the internet with no problem. The PCs all find the Mac and can access the shared folders. However, the Mac does not find any of the PCs, and no shared resources show up in the Finder Sidebar.

May 30, 2009I'm trying to install the Xvid codec for Quicktime. And in the ReadMe file it tells me this his how I install the codec:
To install this component, just drag the File "XviD_Codec 1.0 alpha.component" into Library/QuickTime. The Library directory can be found either at your home directory (to install just for the actual user) or at the top-level of your startup volume (this needs an administrator account). Do not put in: /System/Library/QuickTime.
It is possible that the QuickTime directory does not yet exists. In that case you can create it yourself. Pay attention to capital letters if you use a case sensitive file system (i.e. UFS). But I haven't got a clue where the Home Directories are.

May 27, 2012I just updated my MacBook to Lion, and I used to have a folder when using Leopard called "Library." I can't find it anymore. The only way to get to it is to open Xcode 4, make a Cocoa application, build it, then right-click the target, then click "Show in finder. This is what the library folder looks like after I do that:
I can still click the folder and it will show me its contents, but once I leave the home folder, the folder dissappears, and I can't find it:

Jun 26, 2012 I've recently upgraded to Lion and have found that Quicktime movies and embedded Flash movies won't work. With the embedded flash all I get is a black box, and with quicktime movies, such as the ones on the Apple website, I get nothing - the irony of not being able to watch movies on the Apple site with my Apple iMac gives me a little chuckle. Anyways ....... I've been reading thread after thread and trying lots of different things but nothing works. I've got this feeling inside that says it's something simple but just can't seem to find it.

Jan 30, 2009Yesterday, I had to re-format my external hard drive so that it could be "recordable" within Pro Tools, which wasn't a major issue, I just had to move everything from my Lacie drive to another drive, do the format, and then throw it all back on. It took a little while but this also included moving my nearly 60gb itunes library. Now that it is on the newly formatted hard drive, itunes doesn't seem to be able to find the majority of the songs any more. I've tried changing the music folder and a few other things, and there is no way I'm going through and doing the "cant find music - click here to find it" palava. Is anyone aware of a way that you can "mass find" all of the music in any way other than starting the library again and adding all the music (I don't really want to lose all of my play counts and ratings if possible!)

Jan 4, 2011I received my new 15" MBP last night and quickly set up a network between my 08 iMac and the new MBP. Nothing fancy - Verizon FIOS router with Airport Express connected by ethernet cable - AE set up in Bridge mode, and both computers connected to the AE wireless network. Still pretty amazing to a first-time home networker. I shared my entire iMac iphoto library and itunes library and was able to view, play, and import on the MBP. I shared some files from the iMac and that worked like a champ on the MBP.
I was even more amazed with the Back to my Mac feature. Instantly able to get screen access and file access. Pretty amazing how easy it was. I had set up a Epson wireless printer on the iMac. Simply hit + on the MBP, selected the Epson, and printed wirelessly seconds later. I would still be flailing with my Windows machine. How does everyone use their home network? Anything to share that I'm missing? Any capability I need to start taking advantage of?

Aug 22, 2014I have recently bought a mac book pro, and i am trying to get my iTunes library from my pc computer to my mac. I have successfully authorised homesharing on both computers. My pc homesharing works, and allows me to see and use any music that i have bought from iTunes that is on my mac. However, it does not work the other way around, so my mac will not let me use/see any of my pc library (which is very large) via homesharing. When I click on the music menu on my mac and scroll down to my linked homeshare computer, it 'loads' for about a minute and then stops. This is very frustrating as my all my main music is on my pc library, and I don't want to have to download everything again, CD by CD.
