Audio On My Macbook Pro Cuts Out After A Few Minutes

Jun 3, 2012

The audio on my macbook pro cuts out after a few minutes. It sounds like all the low end is removed. I still hear audio but it is MUCH lower and sounds filtered. I can barely hear it maxed out. Nothing attached (no external drives, no speakers, etc) and it's only a few days old.

MacBook Pro :: AirPort Signals Cuts Off After Every 30 Minutes

May 11, 2010

I have a fairly new 17" Unibody MacBook Pro, and recently my AirPort signal cuts off after about 30 minutes. I could just be on Facebook, and I will loose the signal after 30 minutes, and then I got to reselect my network. It becomes very annoying if when I try uploading videos to YouTube, having to start uploading all over about 3 times. I took it to the Genius Bar on Saturday, and they couldn't diagnose the problem, and they said they have to send it out to depot, but i can't afford being without my machine till June. I've tried restoring the default settings on my AirPort base station, but that didn't effect the problem. Could there be a problem with the AirPort card in my machine?

FaceTime :: Loses INCOMING Audio After About Five Minutes

Apr 4, 2012

I'm running the latest version of OS X Lion on a MacBook Pro purchased in late 2011. It has all of the current updates from Apple. I can start or receive FaceTime calls with no problem. I have tried calls with three different friends, incoming and initiating. These friends have used a variety of devices on their end: Another MacBook Pro, iPhone 4s running iOS5, and iPads running iOS5. In all cases, about five minutes or so into the conversation, I can no longer hear them but they can still hear me. Video continues smoothly in all cases. I can disconnect that call and re-establish a call to that same user's device with my iPhone 4 or my iPad (both running iOS5) and run FaceTime without dropping the audio in either direction no matter how long we talk. Due to the variety of devices tested, the problem seems to be narrowed down to the incoming audio in my FaceTime on my MacBook Pro dropping off after five minutes. DVD movies play without a problem, as does Netflix streaming shows. No loss of incoming audio there. Also, when the FaceTime incoming audio drops off, other sounds such as system sounds continue to work normally.

There are a variety of messages on the internet about someone losing their outgoing audio after five minutes but still able to hear the other party. However, I could find nothing on the net about losing the incoming audio only.

MacBook Pro :: It Cuts Out Randomly

Apr 2, 2012

my macbook pro has started to just cut out randomly. I have had this with an expanding battery and haven't had the money to replace it yet, but I don't know if this is part of the issue. When my computer cuts out, it is as though the power cable has been pulled out and the whole system just shuts off in an instant. I know that the power cable has definitely not come out, though.

MacBook Pro :: Display Constantly Cuts Out?

May 27, 2012

the display's started cutting off unexpectedly. It started a few months ago with random restarts, which I thought were caused by a bad hard drive, but it turns out permissions errors, stacked up over the years, really can bork your computer. I replaced the hard drive (didn't mind opening her up, since she's well out of warranty), but the problem kept occuring - only with the screen going dark randomly. I thought the new hard drive was dying, too. But here's how it's been going down lately. About twice a day, the screen will go black. Not just the backlight; it's as though the display has been turned off. I can't wake it from the display sleep, but it's not for lack of hitting the space bar repeatedly. Keyboard backlight stays on for a second, and then goes dark, at which point, I'll force a shutdown and try to restart. All of which is messing with my data; I've been doing a permissions repair pretty much daily now, and there's loads of 'em to repair. I noticed today, when it happened earlier, that my hard drive is still spinning, and USB peripherals retain their power. So what is causing my display to cut out like this, and how do I keep it from happening again (at least this frequently) until I can afford a new MacBook?

MacBook :: Mini Display To HDMI Cuts Out After 20 Min?

Dec 28, 2010

I've connected my Macbook to my Samsung TV via HDMI and it works great!

I've been using the TV for it's speakers and screensaver so I'd like to be able to put on iTunes and have my slideshow play on the TV while I have guests over.

It works great, but if I don't touch the macbook for 20 minutes, the signal to the TV cuts out. The Macbook isn't going to sleep, because I've adjusted those settings accordingly. I feel like the TV is stopping the connection for some reason. As soon as I touch my macbook, it resumes playing and everything.

MacBook Pro :: Won't Start, HDD Spins For 5 Seconds Then Cuts Off?

Feb 18, 2010

I am trying to repair a macbook pro for a friend, I think it's the logic board, but I wanted to check with you all before I go buy one. When the battery is fully charged, I press the power button, I hear the hard drive spin for about 5 seconds then stop. The superdrive on it is broken so I can't try the restore disk. I ordered Pram, I am going to replace that. I tried two different hard drives and I know they are both good, I tried them in the macbook and through a usb port, and the same thing happened both times.

MacBook Pro :: WiFi Cuts Out Sporadically And Frequently

Jun 23, 2012

in the last week or so I've begun having a problem with the WiFi connection on my MBP. While using the Internet, web pages will no longer load, my mail client can't connect to the mail server, etc. When I use the terminal to ping Google or any other site, I get the message that the server can't be found. In the menu bar, the WiFi icon indicates a strong connection, but when I open Network Preferences, it says that WiFi is off. When I click, "Turn WiFi on," the menu bar icon goes to the empty fan icon but WiFi refuses to turn back on again. The only thing that I've found to work is to restart, and once or twice now that hasn't worked either.

One other thing I noticed was that this last week Network Preferences had identified my fitbit tracker USB syncing dongle as a network device and had added it to the list of devices on the left side of the preferences pane. This happened after I had already begun to have problems, and after I deleted the syncing dongle from the list, WiFi came back up again with no problem. This is a MBP with a 2.7 GHz i7, eight GB of RAM, running 10.7.4.Can you offer any solutions or suggestions for further troubleshooting?

I've reset the margins in word to accommodate the entire thing, but it still cuts it off in pdf format. I've searched for other answers, but it seems that people have more printing issues, not just saving issues.

MacBook Pro :: Audio Not Coming From TV / Moshi Mini DP To HDMI Adapter With Audio Support

Jan 13, 2011

I want to hook my Macbook Pro up to a Sony Bravia (not sure of the exact model). I went to the Apple Store, and was given these two items to hook it up. Moshi Mini DP to HDMI Adapter with Audio Support. Belkin High Speed HDMI Cable - 6 feet

We successfully hooked it up last night, and the video worked. I was told in the store that this setup would not transfer audio, so I already knew there would not be sound coming from the TV, rather from the Macbook instead. My Q is: What's the easiest way to get audio to come from the TV? I'd rather not buy external speakers to plug in, if I can help it.

Power Mac G5 :: Upon Start - Display Flashes Colors - Cuts Out / Goes Black

Dec 4, 2007

I have a 30-inch cinema display and a Power Mac G5 (quad). Last night I was toying around by trying to boot an old 450 MHz G4 connected to my G5 via firewire ( I need to do some work on the G4 and it doesn't support my big display). So I connected it to my G5 via firewire target disk mode, then selected the disc (which has 10.2 on it) in the Startup disk preferences via System Prefs. Then I tried it and got a kernel panic. Alright, so it didn't work. Oh well. But now that everything is disconnected and my G5 is back to it's normal state (meaning the G4 isn't connected at all), when I start up, my display acts very weird. I get a few flashing colors blocks at the beginning, then it blacks out. Then when I login, it goes black again, then pops back on. So I'm trying to figure out what I did to my baby and how to fix it.

Mac Pro :: Topic : Cinema Display Cuts Out And Can't Access With Screen Sharing?

Feb 19, 2008

A weird thing has started happening to my Mac Pro today. After using it for a few minutes the cinema display it is attached to on the Mac Pro just goes black. The Mac Pro is clearly still on - the light is on and i can hear the fans. The Mac Pro shows up on my local network and i can connect to it and access files from my Macbook, but screen sharing doesn't work (i just get the message 'contacting mac pro' and nothing else) and i can't connect to shared iTunes library either, which makes me think it is not just a display issue. I cannot wake the computer with the mouse or keyboard, which makes me think it isn't just a sleep issue. All i can do is physically turn the Mac Pro off, start it up and it will start up successfully and then work for a few more minutes before i get the same problem. I have reset the PRAM and SMC and still have the same problems. Can anyone suggest anything else i can try?

I should mention that i have another problem with the Mac Pro in that it has been spontaneously waking up from sleep and starting up from shutdown, and i still haven't resolved this. I don't know if it is connected to the above issue.
