I have a presonus firebox and want to use it on my mac pro when I'm running windows XP, but windows doesnt seem to recognize it. I downloaded drivers, followed the instructions to disconnect and reconnect the device, looked through control panel, etc....
Presonus says that sometimes they dont like bootcamp, but I dont understand why that would be. Anything I can do to try and get it working?
I'm trying to play Fallout 3 on my new Macbook Pro 13-inch(2.53ghz c2d 4gigs ram). on windows xp (sp3) in bootcamp, however I get the error: "no sound device detected. Fallout 3 cannot run".
In the control panel it also says no audio device.. and no audio device is listed in the hardware tab either.
I bought a new MacBook yesterday, downloaded Logic 9 and installed the USB drivers for my Saffire 6 USB audio interface but cannot locate it in either the system preferences or the Logic 9 audio preferences. How do I get this working ?

I just got a 21.5 in. iMac and it's not recognizing my firewire audio interface. I have a 400 to 800 cable from the interface to the iMac and it's simply not picking it up.

I can’t record an audio (vocal) track. Here is my gear, DAW: Reason 8, Mac running Yosemite (version 10.10), mixer: Behringer 1204 USB (with built audio interface). I’ve also tried the following stand alone audio interfaces, TASCAM US 100 and M-Audio Fast track Pro. Key board Axiom 25. I gone into preferences and selected USB Audio CODEC for both output and input on the MAC, did the same under reason preference audio tab. when I create a audio track in Reason, in the audio input section I see “No audio input”.
When I select the drop down menu there is a section for Mono input and Stereo for me to check this is followed by a grayed out section that states “No audio input available, please check your sound card settings. The other funny thing is when I use Garage Band, I have no issues recording. I just recorded in garage band using the Behringer 1204. Am I missing some simple setting somewhere,missing a channel routing.

In the sound preference pane, the input and output devices have 2 properties. the Name, and the Type.
Just being curious, but how can I change the Name attributed to a particular input/output device?
While working in Windows XP on my iMac, I believe I inadvertently removed the driver for the built in audio device - the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC. And so now I have no sound on my computer. I have tried reinstalling the driver, but at the end of the installation process it says that the device cannot start. My system automatically detects the device as new hardware when I restart the computer but even though I have removed and and tried to reinstall the the driver several times, I cannot get it to work.
When I go through the device troubleshooter, it tells me to detach the problem device and reattach it. However, the audio device is built into my mac, so that is not an option.
Having gone through the settings, i have a speaker system plugged into my white macbook through the 3.5mm audio jack. I am running OS X Leopard 10.5.7 and am unable to find the options that i thought were available previously in tiger to configure the speaker setup/orientation. For example whether i am using satellite speakers, or 2 speakers either side, 3 4 or whatever it was, just like i would if i was using windows. It has a section under "Sound" then "Output", however it seems to be automated, i cannot add or remove, or edit items within the list.

In the time leading up to this fault, the sound in the mini jack was very poor, and sounded really bad.

I have a slight problem with my volume controls on a Macbook Pro. They're not doing exactly what I want them to. I have an external sound card and by selecting it as my default audio device the macbook pros own volume control gets locked and there's no way to adjust it. This means that it renders the keyboard and Remote control volume buttons useless and I still have to run across the room to adjust the volume on my audio device when I'm watching a movie through the tv away from the macbook. Is there no way to enable this function anyway so both controls work?

I opted for the FireWire package as it has the most better quality mics. I got it all hooked up, but for some reason, my Mac is not recognising my new sound device at all. I was looking under the Sound part of the Control Panel, but nothing new would register. I checked the FireWire part of the Device Manager (appologies I forget the actual name of the application). The Firewire device was listed as "Unknown", if I was to remove the device and refresh, it would show nothing. So i've got the feeling that its been seen, just not recognised correctly.
I tried a few things to try and help my situation.
1) Disconnecting any other attached device
2) Rebooting several times
3) Leaving system off and unplugged for 10-15 mins
4) Updating all software
5) Resetting my xxxx (I forget the term, but it involved rebooting holding CMD, Option, R and P) - can someone confirm how I know if this was actually reset?
6) Going into Activity Manager and confirming the Audio driver is loaded
From what I've read, Firewire config issues can be common with Macs. I am running an 18 month olf iMac 20" with 4 gig ram. I've not used my FireWire port for a while, about 6 months ago I used a FW external HD which didn't have any problems with. Alas I don't have any other FW devices to plug in and test the port. The final thing I'm going for is to leave the system unplugged for 10 hours, which will be ready to check after work.
One thing I was thinking about though - would getting a powered FW hub be of use at all?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just installed Windows XP on my MacBook Pro yesterday. It's a 15 inch with a 2.80 Ghz Core 2 Duo processor so I can't see any reason why it should be slow. The weirdest part about it being slow is that my other computer, a 4 year old MacBook, with a 2.16 Ghz, runs it unbelievably easy. If I try to move around a window on the old MacBook it moves smoothly, very easily. If I try to move a window on my MBP it has unbelievable lag and refreshes every millimeter that I move and moves really really slowly. Any reason why it's THAT slow on the MBP and fast on the MB?And then the other problem, the Wifi. Windows appears to not be recognizing my wireless card and I've read some other stuff where you need to find the drivers for your card and then go install those on the Windows side, and I thought I did that. My card is a Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0

I have 2 issues, the first one is that whenever I plug in an audio device such as headphones or speakers while iTunes is playing, the song will freeze for about 30 seconds. The computer gets very laggy and iTunes freezes. Not even the media/volume buttons on the keyboard work. I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.3 and iTunes 9.1 (79). ALSO i have another problem I have been having since I got the MacBook I'm sure. I plug in a device into the standard headphone jack, and it just kind of sits there half plugged in (like not clicked in all the way). And so i have to push it to make it actually work, but here's the thing, if I'm listening to music in bed for example or on a slightly non-solid surface the headphones will just "pop out"! ... Like not literally but they will come out a slight bit and then the audio starts playing through the internal MacBook speakers. I'm pretty sure (but don't quote me on it) that Apple earphones do not pop out. If this is some sort of technique Apple is using to get me to buy their headphones then forget about it. I love to listen to music so I need my nice headphones. BTW the headphones I am using DO NOT "pop out" of any other audio device I own. In fact I can hang my iPod Touch from them without them coming out or loosing connection. Most audio devices I plug into the MacBook have the same problem, except the Apple branded iPod headphones as I mentioned earlier.

However, when it finishes startup and I get to my desktop, I have no audio, and the audio icon up top is grayed out. The audio output jack works fine. I can use speakers and headphones. I've tried the solution of wiggling around a headphone plug in the jack, as well as doing the same with a toothpick. I've also reset the PRAM. For some reason, the problem persists. When I open sound settings in preferences, the only device listed is "Digital Out" and there is a message under it saying "The Selected Device has No Output Controls."

Anyone else having a problem with Windows XP recognizing Sound with BootCamp on the new MacPro? Anyone know how to set it up? I went into control panel and it won't let me do anything under the sound settings. I am using the Optical Out of the MacPro into my system.
I've partitioned my 8GB USB memory stick using Disk Utility in Snow Leopard and gave it the format of MS-DOS(FAT). It completes successfully, and works within Snow Leopard however when I plug it into Windows, it says its unformatted and needs formatting. It only gives me the option to format 200MB!!! What is going on? I know formatting more than 2GB in FAT is impossible or something but I did it with my external HDD and it works perfectly in Windows.

View 13 Replies View RelatedSo I installed xp via bootcamp just fine. One problem; no drivers! I inserted the OSX install DVD in, xp did not recognize it. Under 'properties' it said it was a blank cd with 0 megabytes on it and 0 megabytes of storage. If I opened the DVD there was nothing there. I did get this CD from someone else, it is the 'official' OSX Snow Leopard DVD copied onto another cd, but theoretically everything is there. I am running a non unibody macbook pro 15", might I be able to download these drivers elsewhere?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have just installed a windows vista partition on my 17 inch macbook pro and when I insert the mac osx installation dvd in order to install the mac drivers the on the windows partition the d drive shows that something has been inserted but the cd has no name and whenever I try to click on it says nothing is on the cd. However when I insert the dvd in the mac osx partition it reads the dvd fine. Why is this? There is a scratch on the dvd but what difference would it make if the mac partition is reading it fine?

On startup, when I hold the option key to choose which OS I want to use they work. When I'm using the Mac OS they work. I've even tried using my microsoft mouse, it doesn't work either. I was told that after installing the operating system I had to insert the mac osx installation disk so that bootcamp could install the drivers (at this point the mouse/keyboard was working). After everything was installed I restarted like I was supposed to, but when windows xp started up again no mouse or keyboard would work. I've tried my wireless apple keyboard, my wired apple keyboard, my wireless apple mouse and my wired apple mouse and nothing works.

I previously was not getting the correct drive size in bootcamp, was only seeing 595g instead of 640g total partition size. when i look at finder it shows 639 gigs, so correct filesize. When i look at disk utility through utilites and also when i boot from the install disk, they both say 639gigs as well. When I look in grandperspective it also shows only 454gigs used, while spotlight is showing 486gigs used. When i add up all the items on my hard drive

i just bought a case for my harddisk and plugged it in my mac but i dont see it in the finder nor in the disk utility, the harddisk used to be in my old windows laptop and would like to use it as an external one on my mac. it works perfecty via usb ond windows but it doenst show up on mac!
in the finder the checkboxes are checked and i tried tuning off the laptop unplugging and replugging but no result ..
