I have a presonus firebox and want to use it on my mac pro when I'm running windows XP, but windows doesnt seem to recognize it. I downloaded drivers, followed the instructions to disconnect and reconnect the device, looked through control panel, etc....
Presonus says that sometimes they dont like bootcamp, but I dont understand why that would be. Anything I can do to try and get it working?

I first installed Windows XP when I got my early 2008 Mac Pro. Boot Camp was probably beta back then, but I cant say my experience has changed much through Vista 32 bit or now Windows 7 64 bit. The way to dual boot, holding ALt during boot, has worked 1/10 times. Literally. The boot symbols are usually delayed, so I know when I choose the win partition, it gives me the "No bootable device" error. Two times have I had heavy OS X crashes after these boot-up "games". This last time I had to completely reinstall OS X (or upgrade to SL). How could this be, im not even booting into OS X when I am trying to boot into win.
I even have a separate hard drive for my Win partition. Not to mention the stream of driver issues you encounter when you finally manage to get inside Windows. I actually had my apple wireless and mouse working in Windows 7, but then I installed Boot Camp drivers of the DVD, and now theyre dead. I know. Its Windows, why would I miss it? Gaming or apps, regardless. Apple shouldnt include a program that functions so poorly, if they insist on higher standards elsewhere. It only reflects badly upon them. I consider myself a decent level mac user, venturing into command line troubleshooting if needed. But BootCamp remains a mystery to me.

Lately I have been having trouble with the audio. The sound doesn't work on the Macbook, and it can't seem to find any devices!
I tried plugging in headphones, but nothing helped.
In the time leading up to this fault, the sound in the mini jack was very poor, and sounded really bad.
When I plug my TV to the computer, by HDMI, I works fine. Even with sound. Oh, and I can't adjust the sound - it simply tells me that there is no device.

I am using a unibody MacBook (non-Pro). I have 2 issues, the first one is that whenever I plug in an audio device such as headphones or speakers while iTunes is playing, the song will freeze for about 30 seconds. The computer gets very laggy and iTunes freezes. Not even the media/volume buttons on the keyboard work. I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.3 and iTunes 9.1 (79). ALSO i have another problem I have been having since I got the MacBook I'm sure. I plug in a device into the standard headphone jack, and it just kind of sits there half plugged in (like not clicked in all the way). And so i have to push it to make it actually work, but here's the thing, if I'm listening to music in bed for example or on a slightly non-solid surface the headphones will just "pop out"! ... Like not literally but they will come out a slight bit and then the audio starts playing through the internal MacBook speakers. I'm pretty sure (but don't quote me on it) that Apple earphones do not pop out. If this is some sort of technique Apple is using to get me to buy their headphones then forget about it. I love to listen to music so I need my nice headphones. BTW the headphones I am using DO NOT "pop out" of any other audio device I own. In fact I can hang my iPod Touch from them without them coming out or loosing connection. Most audio devices I plug into the MacBook have the same problem, except the Apple branded iPod headphones as I mentioned earlier.

When I start my Macbook Pro (mid 2009 15") I get the familiar audio chime. However, when it finishes startup and I get to my desktop, I have no audio, and the audio icon up top is grayed out. The audio output jack works fine. I can use speakers and headphones. I've tried the solution of wiggling around a headphone plug in the jack, as well as doing the same with a toothpick. I've also reset the PRAM. For some reason, the problem persists. When I open sound settings in preferences, the only device listed is "Digital Out" and there is a message under it saying "The Selected Device has No Output Controls."

In the sound preference pane, the input and output devices have 2 properties. the Name, and the Type.
Just being curious, but how can I change the Name attributed to a particular input/output device?

While working in Windows XP on my iMac, I believe I inadvertently removed the driver for the built in audio device - the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC. And so now I have no sound on my computer. I have tried reinstalling the driver, but at the end of the installation process it says that the device cannot start. My system automatically detects the device as new hardware when I restart the computer but even though I have removed and and tried to reinstall the the driver several times, I cannot get it to work.
When I go through the device troubleshooter, it tells me to detach the problem device and reattach it. However, the audio device is built into my mac, so that is not an option.

Having gone through the settings, i have a speaker system plugged into my white macbook through the 3.5mm audio jack. I am running OS X Leopard 10.5.7 and am unable to find the options that i thought were available previously in tiger to configure the speaker setup/orientation. For example whether i am using satellite speakers, or 2 speakers either side, 3 4 or whatever it was, just like i would if i was using windows. It has a section under "Sound" then "Output", however it seems to be automated, i cannot add or remove, or edit items within the list.

Used migration assistant to move my Blackbook apps and settings to the Air using a Time Machine backup from my Time Capsule - wirelessly. Two hours later (not terrible) and I'm using my Air with all my apps and setting - fantastic.
Question: My Blackbook also has a Bootcamp partition running Windows - is there a way to take that image and migrate it to my MB Air? I'd rather not have to purchase the Superdrive and re-install/setup the Windows OS on my Air....

I can't add any devices in Audio MIDI Setup (Apps, Utilities); in the Aggregate Device Structure list in the Aggregate Device Editor, when I click the + my devices (Built-in Audio 1 and 2, and an M-Audio Duo) briefly show, then disappear; I can't select anything to aggregate.
How do I fix this?

I tried to install ubuntu with bootcamp on a different hard drive. Something happened and now when I turn on my computer it says no bootable devices. It doesn't even see my OSX hard drive. I tried booting up my computer and holding down option. It doesn't work. I have a wireless microsoft keyboard. Is it not letting me hold down option because the computer finds the wrieless keyboard to late. Some one said u have to hold down the option key before the mac sounds happens. The keyboard lights don't come on till after that. Should I get a USB keyboard? I have to press the start button on the keyboard to act as the option key when I'm in osx. Would the computer know that the start key is the option key on boot up?

I have a slight problem with my volume controls on a Macbook Pro. They're not doing exactly what I want them to. I have an external sound card and by selecting it as my default audio device the macbook pros own volume control gets locked and there's no way to adjust it. This means that it renders the keyboard and Remote control volume buttons useless and I still have to run across the room to adjust the volume on my audio device when I'm watching a movie through the tv away from the macbook. Is there no way to enable this function anyway so both controls work?

I am about to buy a 15 in. MBP and I'll be going on a trip soon. I was wondering if there was anything I could get that would let me both use my mac as a tv for my xbox and use a tv as an additional monitor.
Something that would have RCA input/output (the red, white, yellow cords) and would connect to my mac with USB or hopefully firewire 800 (express card 32 would work as well).

Yesterday I took delivery of the following kit- http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/produc...firewire-.html
As you can see, it comes with the FCA202 Audio interface - http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/produc...io-fca202.html
I opted for the FireWire package as it has the most better quality mics. I got it all hooked up, but for some reason, my Mac is not recognising my new sound device at all. I was looking under the Sound part of the Control Panel, but nothing new would register. I checked the FireWire part of the Device Manager (appologies I forget the actual name of the application). The Firewire device was listed as "Unknown", if I was to remove the device and refresh, it would show nothing. So i've got the feeling that its been seen, just not recognised correctly.
I tried a few things to try and help my situation.
1) Disconnecting any other attached device
2) Rebooting several times
3) Leaving system off and unplugged for 10-15 mins
4) Updating all software
5) Resetting my xxxx (I forget the term, but it involved rebooting holding CMD, Option, R and P) - can someone confirm how I know if this was actually reset?
6) Going into Activity Manager and confirming the Audio driver is loaded
From what I've read, Firewire config issues can be common with Macs. I am running an 18 month olf iMac 20" with 4 gig ram. I've not used my FireWire port for a while, about 6 months ago I used a FW external HD which didn't have any problems with. Alas I don't have any other FW devices to plug in and test the port. The final thing I'm going for is to leave the system unplugged for 10 hours, which will be ready to check after work.
One thing I was thinking about though - would getting a powered FW hub be of use at all?

I have a white Macbook bought in July 2009 with Windows XP installed with BootCamp. A few days ago, the Apple Software Updater downloaded an update for BootCamp which apparently included updated audio drivers. Unfortunately, there is now no audio coming out of the speakers or earphones whether the sound is muted or not (in either Realtek or Windows sound managers). The sound works fine in OS X. Is anyone else having this problem since the update or is there something obvious which I'm missing?

I occasionally get the BSOD sometimes on the Windows XP side of things in Boot Camp. I always use a mouse on the Windows side, as the trackpad is very glitchy and buggy. Sometimes, when I use the mouse for a prolonged period of time, I accidently touch the trackpad forgetting all of the sudden that i had the mouse (or i use it to scroll down) and the whole thing blue screens on me. It has happened 8 times already, each time blue screening after touching the mouse. I don't know why, but I find out that the mouse drivers are the one that is messing up my Windows XP SP3.

I have a Macbook Pro 15" , C2D 2.33ghz. I have the 7100 version of Windows 7 and everything worked perfectly except for the sound.
No matter which bootcamp driver I try or even Realtek's own vista one nothing works.
I downloaded the bootcamp 2.1 drivers and everything installed correctly , including the realtek ones. All the hardware looks fine in device manager but I dont hear anything out.
Should the default be speakers? It seems that it keeps the driver as microsofts own and it doesnt say anything about realtek. Could that be the problem?
I did not try the microphone jack yet but will in a few minutes.
Even if there is a hack , Im willing to try it. What is the exact audio chipset on this model of macbook pro?

I have today received a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium, and am looking forward to installing it on my MacBook (early unibody version with Core 2 Duo processor, recently upgraded to Snow Leopard - version MacBook 5,1 - with 2.4GHz Processor and 4GB RAM).
The question is simple, but I am utterly confused when searching for the answer...!
Should I install the 32bit or the 64bit version of windows? (both the disks are in the box). I would like a smooth installation, and realise that 32bit should work no problem. However if all the drivers are available for 64bit windows, and it works then I see no reason not to install that version. I am confused because there is reference on the Apple website of this version of the MacBook not being supported for 64bit despite having a 64bit processor (??) Also the vast majority of the information on the Apple website seems to refer to Vista 64bit. I imagine that this will be quite confusing for many users, as it has been for me!
I will only install windows once, and would obviously like to install the potentially faster OS if it will be straightforward, and everything will work as it should (have read about problems with the iSight/backlit keyboard etc. - but these may now be fixed).

I want to try out Windows 7. During this process though I deleted my winXP partition. When I went to create a new BootCamp partition in The BootCamp SetUp Assisstant, it failed to create the partition on my harddrive.
I was greeted with the error, "BootCamp SetUp assistant failed to yada yada yada, please backup and reformat your harddrive."
So my question is do I really have to reinstall Mac OS X? (I backup with TimeMachine so it won't be a big deal but still thats a very long process.) Do you guys have any tips or anything to get Mac OS X to partition my main HDD?

I've read that many people have been struggling to get the rear audio jack their Mac Pro to behave under bootcamp. The issue stems from the Realtek drivers 'Jack Detection' which normally allows windows to detect when you plug in headphones or speakers. On some Windows PC's the Realtek Audio Manager has the option to disable this detection, but the latest drivers don't include any advanced options.

Maybe I'm just over thinking this, but Apple never posted a KB article about how to upgrade an existing bootcamp partition with the new snow leopard bootcamp 3.0 drivers. I'm assuming if you already have bootcamp 2.1 you boot up in boot camp and then insert the snow leopard disc in order to upgrade the drivers to 3.0 correct? Or do I have to erase my stupid bootcamp partition and reinstall it all over again using the new leopard boot camp assistant in order to get to 3.0?

have only just started the journey of installing a VM on my iMac and have hit what looks like a common problem but I cant see a common answer!
I've got an iMac running OS X (10.6.4 to be precise) with a 3GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB RAM and 500G HDD.
I installed Parallels 5 preferring it over bootcamp because you can switch over without having to reboot.
I've then download Windows 7 64bit version from the Microsoft store and run through the installation / creation of a new vm in parallels.
All seemed to be fine for the first 45 seconds but then I've hit a pop up called "Load Driver" saying "No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK" - on clicking OK out of that pop up - I have a choice to BROWSE, RESCAN to find the right "driver".
My question is - what is the right driver? what device is the driver needed for? I've searched around and most suggestions point towards going into device manager - well - I'm still on STAGE 1 of the install of Windows 7 where it says its "Collecting information".
When I downloaded Windows 7 from the Microsoft store it provided 2 files:
Windows7_Professional_ISO_64bit.iso and bootsect.exe
but no other files. I stored it in Documents/Windows7 files.
Apologies if you've had this question a thousand time but could someone kindly suggest how I find out what device drivers I need?
