Every now and again I get a message from Mail.app saying asking me to enter my gmail password as the login using the saved password failed. I then enter my password ( the same one that is saved ) and it works. However, I've noticed that some of the emails in my gmail account are not downloaded to mail.app, so I have to go to gmail.com to check that I have not missed any emails, which makes mail.app pretty pointless.
Also, I can't use outgoing server, as it never sends my emails. I have never had these gmail problems with Thunderbird before, using the same account settings.
i am getting lots of emails per day, but most of them are Facebook notifications and Twitter stuff, Is there any way I can Filter those Facebook emails so they show up in a different folder than my Inbox? Also it would be great to do it directly in Gmail so my iPhone does the same
I ask for forgiveness since now if I'm posting something that already exists and I couldn't find, but I wasn't able to find any helpful resource to fix my problem. I've always used Mail and I like it. I have three addresses, one of the provider, the other two belongs to my personal domain. They've always worked fine. Since two months they suddenly stopped to send e-mails. The error says there's a problem with smtp server. I tried to change smtp settings, I've edited mail settings, tried to set up another account and tried to download another app for mail: always the same problem. My mother, that has a mac too and an e-mail account with our provider, doesn't have any problem. So I tried to copy those settings on my MacBook Pro.. nothing.
Is there anyway to sync the Mac Mail app and Yahoo! SBC Global server with each other? Like on the iPad, you can move files and such, and it syncs with the server. Can I do the same with my imac?
I'm trying to think of a way to mimic Gmail functionality without actually using a Google/ Gmail account. My work email account is an imap account which I would like to use on my Macbook, and also my iPad. The ideal situation would be for all of my folders, inbox, and sent emails to sync as if I were working on the same device. In other words, I would like to write an email from my iPad only to come back to my office and find a copy on my laptop. Is this possible? Is it merely a matter of adding the imap account to my iPad?
I currently have the account set up on my Macbook and iPhone. The iPhone functionality isn't great. Emails which I send from my iPhone do not appear in my sent emails on my Macbook. I'm looking to remedy this.
About a month ago, a friend who had just purchased his first Mac emailed me and asked why his Dock DownLoad file disappeared. I had no idea why. He still hasn't been able to reestablish it.
Yesterday, I downloaded something and my Dock DownLoad file vanished. I have tried rebooting, using (useless) Help, Spotlight, Search, and several other things. NO JOY. NO DownLoad file.
1. Does anyone know where to find DownLoad or how to bring it back?
I have experienced several idiosyncrasies with Snow Leopard, but when I call Apple support, they are very nice, but haven't a clue as to why it's happening.
2. Another problem is that the Highlight gets anchored on something in Mail, Word, and some other Apps. When I click somewhere else, the whole area between the "anchor" and what I click on is lit up. Apple doesn't know what causes it. I have to go through multiple machinations to shake it loose. I don't know what it is that causes it or specifically how to "shake it loose". Neither does Apple.
3. When typing in Word or an editor, there are times when the type changes to UpperCase and won;t let go.
Another problem is that, at times, when I click on a file, it fills the screen. Apple is aware of this problem and is trying to find an answer. Nothing, to date.
Apple support can't tell me why the MacMail Inbox spinner disappeared or how to get it back.
There are times when I can't access the hidden Dock. After rebooting and trying other things, the Dock finally shows up but any additions that I have put on the Dock are no longer there.
When I put a DVD in the slot, for the first few seconds, it grinds but does smooth out.
I thought that SL was supposed to get rid of the "foibles". "What happened on the way to the Forum"?
Is anyone finding other SL idiosyncrasies? What are they?
If anyone can help with items 1., 2, and/or 3. I'd be grateful.
BTW, Apple says that items 2 and 3 MAY be caused by the wireless Magic Mouse and/or the wireless keyboard; however, when I use alternates, it still happens.
When i send a mail and BCC people i cannot see to whom i sent the email too when i check the mail in the sent inbox...let's say i want to check if i did not forget someone in the mail how can i see who i bcc'ed?
Is there a way to set mail to download only newest mails? like the way mail.app behave on iPad? the email is ymail with pop server, and mail app always start download the oldest mail first,, from sometime in 2005. how do you guys setup your mail.app?
I'm a newbie to Mac and need some help. I find that the pre-installed 'Mail' is rather convenient but have trouble deleting e-mails I no longer need. Upon deleting selected mails and emptying the trash, I find that some items are STILL there when logging into the actual website (i.e. Gmail). E-mails that I thought were long gone are still there. Please someone help? I think I'm missing something.
I am having issues receiving e-mails from one person especifically. domain digiboo.com. Is there a filter or wirewall witin the e-mail application that needs to be disable?
I've been using mail for a while and have been having problems sending mail from it using my isp's settings. i just got a mobile me trial account to see if I could use that to send email from the app. That was another no no. So I tried to reset mail so I could start a fresh by deleting the mail folder in the library. Now when I open the app it auto add the mm account and only has an inbox, no other options down the left hand side etc and still tries to connect to my old isp's smpt settings. Im looking for a way to reset mail to fresh.
It is looking more and more like I will be relying on Mail for Exchange rather than Outlook. Is their a way I can separate emails by date like Outlook does? Have hundreds of emails not broken up is difficult to read/organize. Maybe a setting I am missing or another App I can download. For clarity, I am not talking of sorting by date rather having the emails in sections by their date received and broken up a bit more.
i am not sure what i did, but i just lost all of my mail in my mac inbox. can i get it back?
i think i might have changed my password. long story- i never used to have a password, but was playing around one day last week and now it is required. i forgot my password and tried everything. all attempts were not working so i tried to change the password and now all of my mail is gone.
For example when I search by the sender's name in Finder, it will list emails that contain the sender's name. But when I want to look for those emails in User/Library/Caches/Metadata/Microsoft.... or wherever all I get is a bunch of numbered emails like "1.vRge08Message" and up to whatever number of emails I got in Entourage.
Why doesn't it display emails by the sender's name like it did when I searched for them in Finder?
I need some help with the mail program on my MBP. For some reason this morning it has decided to keep getting the same emails over and over again and adding them as new. So now I am up to 3000 new emails even though I have already read and deleted them before. Every time I click for it to check for new mail it just downloads the old ones three and four times. How can I get it to stop downloading them again?
I don't like the idea of Mail.app downloading the whole e-mail when I want to check for new ones.Is there any way to make it only get the subject? The idea here is to download the whole mail only if I want to (like clicking on the subject).
I have the last update of safari in macbook pro but I can't attach any files on any website or mails but in another browser like chrome ..etc., I can attach files.
After the latest iPhoto update a week or so ago, my ability to e-mail from iPhoto has stopped.I get an error: "Your email did not go through because the server did not reply.Check your Internet connection. If the connection is working properly, the email server may be down. Try sending your email again later." This is not the case, standard mails work fine and I have removed and added 2 different types of e-mail addresses in iPhoto and its the same (one a .me and one a sky.com) I have diabled the firewall (just in case) but still no joy.
