I am sometimes annoyed when I have no new mail in the inbox, yet because I have mail in spam, it still shows up that I have unread messages.
Is there a way to mark all spam messages as read... or only have the inbox messages get counted?
I have an account in Mail.app that won't let me do anything to the e-mails coming into it. I can't delete e-mails, I can't mark them as read, and if I try to move an e-mail to another mailbox, it's copied, not moved.I've tried repairing disk permissions, and I've tried to remove the account and then adding it again ? but the problem persists. "Rebuild" in the Mailbox menu is inactive when this mailbox is selected, but works on my other accounts.The same account works fine on my iPhone; mails are getting marked as read and I can delete and move e-mails around. It generally works with no problems, but on my work MacPro (and only on this computer not the iMac at home, various laptops, iPad, iPhone etc) mail tells me there is an unread message. However, I can't find this message and it's not there when I use a webmail interface to access the same account. No problem, I figured I could just right click on the mailbox and 'mark all messages as read', but this doesn't work! I like to keep a clear inbox with no unread messages

I ask for forgiveness since now if I'm posting something that already exists and I couldn't find, but I wasn't able to find any helpful resource to fix my problem.
I've always used Mail and I like it. I have three addresses, one of the provider, the other two belongs to my personal domain. They've always worked fine.
Since two months they suddenly stopped to send e-mails. The error says there's a problem with smtp server. I tried to change smtp settings, I've edited mail settings, tried to set up another account and tried to download another app for mail: always the same problem. My mother, that has a mac too and an e-mail account with our provider, doesn't have any problem. So I tried to copy those settings on my MacBook Pro.. nothing.
Is there anyway to sync the Mac Mail app and Yahoo! SBC Global server with each other? Like on the iPad, you can move files and such, and it syncs with the server. Can I do the same with my imac?
View 6 Replies View Relatedim using Mail to recieve my hotmail messages and im trying to find a way to avoid having a hotmail inbox with hundreds of unread emails since they're all being sent to Mail.
with thunderbird, when the messages are copied from hotmail they are automatically marked as read so when you sign into hotmail or msn you dont recieve a message notifying you of having 500 unread messages...only the amount of unread messages you have in thunderbird.
since ive found a lot of similarities between Mail and thunderbird, surely there's a way to set Mail to behave the same way.
For the past few months my mail program has constantly said that I have two unread messages in it. I have gone through every folder on there and selected all the messages and marked them as Read but there is still a "2" on the icon in the Dock. It's not a huge deal but it's been kind of bugging me since it seems like it should be a simple fix. Anyone have any ideas for how I can get rid of this? Is there a "Master" way to to mark all messages read in the Mail program, in case I'm missing some somewhere? I'm not sure if this helps but the email account that it says the "2 unread messages" are in is a school Outlook account. I have tried deleting the account and readding it and the same "2 unread messages" notification is still there.

The drive in my G5 tower will read/write commercial or blank CDs and will read/write blank DVDs, however, it will not read most commercial DVDs. When I insert them it tries to read it then after a few seconds it just spits them back out. Occasionally commercial DVDs will read and mount fine, but this seems to be rare.

I just switched from Snow leopard to Lion and i don't like the way that Lion has the mail preview set up as a 3 column vertical format. I thought in Snow Leopard you could change the set-up so it's either horizontal or vertical, but I can't seem to find that option in Lion. I want to have the list of my email messages in the top, horizontal window and the preview of the selected message in a horizontal window below. Am I missing this option to change the view format from vertical to horizontal somewhere?

There are two MacBooks and two PCs that connect to the network. I only need my MacBook to be able to write to the hard drive but I need the two PCs to be able to access and use the files on the hard drive. I was going to get a 1TB external and give it two partitions. The first partition is going to be the Time Machine backup for my MacBook and the other will be accessed by all computers on the network. What format will the second partition need to be so that both MacBooks and both PCs can view and use the files? Also what external hard drive would you recommend?

I'm using Mail. Up til now, I've had no problems. Recently my paypal acct was accessed by a third-party overseas. Since then I am getting nearly 200 e mails a week that are marked undeliverable. The e mails are almost always addressed to weird overseas addresses but are probably bogus anyway. I don't know how this happened or how to fix it. I can't even check my e mail on my iPhone because I'll be deleting mail from Mail Delivery System for ever. Is there ANYTHING I can do?

This is a rather bizarre issue and I will try to explain the best I can. First off, I did a search, and found nothing recent that could help me with this issue.
Here are my specs: Uni-body Macbook Pro (late 2008) 15"-Snow Leopard I have checked for all updates, and am up to date on all things.
there my mac for some time has not been able to play dvds. It will attempt to read them, but then just spit it out after some time, if I try a bunch of times 6-8, I can sometimes get it to work, however, this rarely does.
