Nov 13, 2009My lacie hdd is not even being recognised anymore by diskwarrior, what should i try next?
I even have data rescue 3 demo and it doesn't see the hdd when plugged.

Hardware :: Lacie D2 Quadra Mounting At The Same Time Another?
Sep 11, 2009I have 2 Lacie d2 Quadra HD 750gb that have both failed to mount at about the same time.
I have tried to connect them with a different power supply and on 2 different mac, I there tried to connect them via all the different ports, USB, firewire 400 & 800, but the drive won't show up.
I have opened the case and disconnected all cables and reconnected with external SATA to USB converter cable and power supply. When I do this the drive mounts and works as normal external drive.
There is a problem between the external questions and the internal drive, does anyone have a suggestions as to how I can get this to work.

May 29, 2010Basically I need a large storage option that is set up to be resistant to loss for my high def video and images. My 500 GB iMac is full to the brim but I don't want to spend 5-800 dollars to back everything up.
I have a 500 GB time machine that is also full so I assume it's just erasing old records with new as we go along now.
I want to purchase 4-5 of the lacie 1TB drives and set up a RAID array external to the iMac. Can I do this? Is it a process a computer novice can do?
If I got 5x1TB drives and did RAID 1 or something I would have 4TB of storage and one drive could die and still maintain all my data? Is there a better RAID version like RAID 6,10 etc...?
Mac Pro :: Will Not Recognize Lacie Backup Disk
Jun 9, 2012I connected Lacie Backup Disk and used Time Machine to select the disk. But then a warning popped up telling me to eject the disk properly next time before disconnecting it, even though I never disconnected the device. Now time machine does not even recognize it.

Apr 8, 2010All of a sudden my macbook pro won't recognize my Lacie hd. I changed f/w cable and plugged external hd into an older mac but the icon does not show up on either. The drive powers up when connected either mac's but still on icon. How can I get the data off of the drive?

Apr 14, 2010I have a G5 tower, PPC, and after opening it up to see if an old soundcard would fit the slots, I closed up and - nothing.
My mac is whirring, fan activating as normal etc, but I'm getting nothing at all on screen, not even the dreaded question mark.
I've tried booting from restore discs, which works fine until I specify which disc to restore/install, where the installation program doesn't even see my HD as a location.

Oct 31, 2010My new upgrade to iPhoto '11 seems to be working almost perfectly. It doesn't do the greatest job of auto-locating people to names in Faces, which is a bit of a disappointment, but I chalk it up to limitations in the facial recognition software, not a bug with iPhoto '11.
The biggest fail is that Places seems to be working NOT at all. I have pictures taken in a few places around the globe, and it only seems to recognize one of my hundreds of Northern California photos and only two of my dozens of photos from Hawaii. It doesn't recognize ANY of the pics I took in Europe or the thousands taken in my home region.

Dec 12, 2010I using a LAcie mini HUB to backup my macmini, store photos on, to store my itunes library on, and my iphone and ipad backups. Basically my whole life is on there. Well, my macmini does not recogize it anymore. I tried connecting it to my MBP and that does not recognize it. THe lacie drive has light that glows when it is turned on, but it looks like it is pulsing.

Aug 18, 2005i have a powerbook G4 running Tiger and was using a lacie d2 firewire hard drive. i wrote all my music onto the lacie and then ejected it but the device removal warning came. i thought nothing of it. i then tried to reconnect my lacie and read of it but now it spins up but my laptop doesn't recognise anything happening. it's not recognised in disk utility, profiler, and disk warrior can't find it either. i have tried a new cable, switching of the laptop and taking the battery out, most simiple things. don't have a clue what else i can do because nothing on my laptop even knows there is something connected to it

Jan 20, 2007I used to have a PowerBook G4 and the 160GB Lacie Porsche Hard-Drive worked just fine, now, on the MBP it does not mount... System profiler doesn't even see it.. Any ideas? I have looked for drivers or other mac users with similar problems, but haven't found much. I have tried the obvious, and it seems to be a problem of communication betwen the machine and the hard-drive.. because surprisingly it mounted for a few seconds and I was able to see the data, however, it crashed when I tried to eject it and then it never mounted again..

Jul 6, 2009I have three external drives daisy chained up to my iMac, an 80, 500 and 1TB. Recently the 500 has failed to show up on the desktop alongside the other drives. I can't remember exactly when it happened, but it may well have been after my computer crashed and forced me to shut it down using the power button.
All other drives appear to be fine, and the 1TB which is daisy chained through the 500 to the 80 shows up just fine. I've checked Disk Utility and there's no sign of the 500 drive there. However in System Profiler there is an "Unkown Device" next to the other drives in the Firewire section.
I've tried the 500 on a G5 and turned it on/off, restarted the computer and all the other usual things.

Jan 11, 2010I have a PowerMac G4 AGP graphics with a 450 MHz single processor, a second internal Seagate Barracuda 120GB Hard drive and 1.2 GB of RAM.
I have my eye on the LaCie DVD-RW firewire drive designed by RA Porche. The LaCie data sheet specifies a minimum G4 500Mhz processor for compatibility. Does any one know whether my 450 Mhz processor will work? If no, can anyone recommend a DVD RW firewire external drive, or failing that, an external, firewire CD RW drive that I can add to my kit?

Apr 22, 2010A few months ago I bought a new LaCie "Little Disk" external 500 GB HDD. Has Firewire and USB power.
Formatted for both Windows and Mac (Fat32). Everything was going fine. One day the disk would not eject. That is when the problems started. I had to manually remove the disk without ejecting.
Having done this with my other LaCie external HDD without any future problems (it would always remount) I didn't think anything of it.
Since then, the disk will not mount on either the Mac or the PC. The disk will not mount using the Firewire or the USB power connectivity even though the blue power light is on.
When I open Disk Utility with the LaCie plugged in, Disk Utility crashes. When I open Disk Utility before the LaCie is plugged in and then plug the LaCie in afterwards, it crashes.
I tried plugging the LaCie in before booting my MacBook to see if that worked, but that method prevented the MB from booting at all!
Contacted LaCie about this but have yet to hear back. I'm convinced that this can be solved cleanly without any data loss. Suggestions?

I went through the manual steps to install all went ok to last step which is partition and format using Disk Utility. now i dont know what to do, is the hard drive going to do the Raiding, or I have to setup using Raid tap in Disk Utility? I tried doing Raiding using Disk Utility but couldnt do it, i thought maybe i cant because its hardware raid or
i searched until my head exploded, and I feel its easy but i am not getting something tiny here.

I bought my Mac OS X and a Lacie 500 gb mini hub hard drive back in 2007 and have had no problems with either until today.
I was attempting to move a quicktime movie (160 MB) from my mac desktop to the Lacie hard drive (which still has about 250 gb of free memory available). The process seemed to be hanging, so I rebooted the mac, and haven't been able to see the Lacie HD since.
The cables and the mini hub seem to be working (light on hub flashes), but it refuses to appear on the desktop.
I've since un-plugged and rebooted everything several times, but with no luck.
Does anyone have any suggestions for what I can do to recover the HD, please? I'd be seriously angry if I had to lose all the data I have on there, which includes pictures of my late father.
The 12-month warranty has long gone, and the Lacie.com site doesn't even recognise the serial number of my model when I went there for help!
What can I do?

Feb 2, 2012I just purchased the Lacie 1TB hard drive. I've plugged in the power wire and the 800 fire wire. The setup assistant is supposed to appear on my desktop, but it doesn't. Do I have to plug in all the wires that came with the HD?
