Software :: Cannot Open Any Windows In Safari - When Startup The System Only Gets Toolbar?
Jun 16, 2009
In the past couple of days I cannot open any windows in Safari. When I start the program up, I get the toolbar only. Nothing I do lets me open up a window. I even have to force quit the application sometimes to get it to close. I have reinstalled the program, removed the preferences, run Disk Warrior and Disk Utility with no luck. As a result, I have to use Firefox to do my browsing.Has anyone had this problem? Is there a fix for this?
I have Lion 10.7.2 and am running Safari version 5.1.2, hopefully I am good so far. I'm not sure what hapenned, I must have done something, but one day my address bar decided it wanted to play hide and seek and it won....the "show toolbar" option does nothing upon clicking it, neither does the "customize toolbar" option.
Every time I open Safari a little box opens and says:Â
Community ToolbarÂ
We’re sorry, but the Safari browser version you are currently using does not support the community toolbar. How can I make this box stop coming up since I don't even know what it is. Can it be deleted?
suddenly, I cannot open safari either from the apps folder or the toolbar. No response whatso ever. Been working ok until this morning. can't even get to the prefs to work anything out..
I installed "Hunt Toolbar" a Torrent search add on for Safari. But I think it was ment only for Windows not Mac. Now every time I open Safari I get the yellow triangle with a ! in it and the message... Community Toolbar: We're sorry, but the Safari browser version you are currently useing does not support the community toolbar. and a Close button. Safari works fine I just want to get rid of this annoying warning whenever I start Safari. Tried reinstalling Safari but same thing.
I was trying to boot into Vista using the System Preferences "Startup Disk" pane , but it doesn't show the Vista Partition. I only can see network (doesn't work) and Mac Os. If I use option key during boot it does work normally.
Just recently I took my 13" MacBook Pro (Late 2010 Model) to my local Apple Store. When I brought it there they fixed my problem, but in the mean time they had to completely delete and uninstall Safari and Google Chrome off of my laptop. Before the apple store, my Safari would always open pop-ups and links in a new tab, now they open up in a new window. how to change it so they open in new tabs? The reason I need this changed is I might have unecessary websites open, and they would just be taking up space.Â
I like to command click for a new window and recently Safari started opening new pages that I command click UNDER the front main window. The preferences say it should be on top but it does not open that way. how to get this opening correctly again?Â
After upgrading to Lion I see a check box at shutdown to refrain from opening web pages currently open in Safari. I did that, unchecked it, but they still open. How odd they would make this a opt out scenario - is there a way to make this permanent? I liked the old way where you could go into History and do it during a new session.
My unibody macbook that is about 3 months old is acting really weird. When i open 3 or more windows of safari and itunes it starts to lock up and act slugishly. When i open activity monitor it says is still has about 800mb of memory open. It is the base model with all stock components.
My dock and toolbar of the home screen hide when I open the internet, but if I hover over them they reappear, what can I do to have them permanently on?
Safari was accidentally deleted from my MB pro. Im running OSx 10.6.8 with safari 5.0.5.I was able to install it again using the install disk and checked for any software updates but it still is not showing up in my toolbar.I searched and tried the view/customize to drag the default set to toolbar, made sure show toolbar is selected etc, but still no middle section of toolbar. When I would try to drag the default set to toolbar nothing happens. The toolbar area is being shown, with the left and right arrows (on the left) and the Google search window shows (on the right), but the center white window to type web address' is not.Â
This issue has been annoying people for a number of years and all kinds of solutions have been posted by Geniuses, mainly to carefully dump the Safari .plist from the Preferences folder. That does not fix the issue! What does work is this: View, Enter FULL SCREEN. Click it 'OFF'. The display will resize and IF you want to stretch it bigger, you can BUT the Toolbar will stop disappearing!
Suddenly the toolbar at the top that shows the website and a spot to search google is gone. The only way I can access it is to go to Edit>Find>Google Search. Once I've searched the toolbar disappears again and then there is no "back" button, so if I need to search again I have to go back to Edit>Find>Google Search. UGH!
