Software :: Automatically Put Www And .com In Safari?
Feb 6, 2009
When I open safari and go to the address bar to type a url address for a web site I used to just type the name and hit enter and safari would add the www & the .com at the end of the address.now when I type it and hit enter it adds the new url that I just typed to the end of the url for my home page website and it comes up saying site cannot be found. For some reason the address bar is remembering the address of my home page web site even though I highlight it and erase it before I type the new address I want to goto. I even went into preferences and changed it so that when I open a new window in safari it open blank instead of my home page but it didnt help.I am running mac osx leopard.
I am viewing a pge in Safari, move my mouse and the screen zooms in. I have tried Command- to zoom out, but this does not work. I am not aware of doing anything on my mouse that causes this, and cannot zoom out!
Suddenly everytime I open Safari, it opens along with a new desktop. So I can't put an application on top of it since the app would appear on the first desktop, get what I mean? So I can't chat with iChat while watching youtube, for example. How to open Safari on the first desktop instead?
i have been using Chrome and want to use Safari but i wasn't able to find the way to add all of the bookmarks of chrome those are too many so i don't want to add it one by one is there any way to do that?
I want to write a script to automatically download the top 10 mp3s from this page [URL] popular then automatically add them to iTunes as a new playlist. Would something like this even be possible to do in Automator? I want to be sure it's actually possible before I dive in.
Another less advanced option would be automatically add mp3s dowloaded from Safari to a certain playlist. I'm sure that would be possible, right?
There are a few sites that have forums where pictures are automatically re-sized if they are over a certain limit. If the picture goes over the sites limit I get this message:Slow scriptSafari is no longer responding because of a script on the webpage "Topic - Website" (Page). Do you want to stop running the script, or let it continue? If I hit the Stop Load Button in time I won?t be kicked out of the forum and have to logon again. When the Slow Script message shows up I hit the Yes, Stop Running Button. There are now literally hundreds of tiny and flat messages showing the dimensions of the picture that was posted and is now junk. Somewhere at the bottom of all those useless sheets are the pictures in their original size. If I?m lucky and fast enough on the draw I haven?t been kicked off.
In preferences, I set safari to clear my downloads manually but it still clears it automatically. I've already tried reinstalling Safari 4 but the problem just cropped up again a week later.
I've been using 1password and have had a massive annoyance ever since I upgraded to Snow Leopard. Safari doesn't load 1password (3 - I've been using it since the beta started) the first time I use it after switching on my mac. I have to actually open 1password then refresh whatever page I wanted to use autofill on and after that it works whether I quit and reopen safari or just leave it running. This is a pain because I shouldn't have to add 1password to my startup items (that would be even more annoying). Has anyone else had this problem. I've tried various combinations of removing/adding the extension, disabling extensions (in 1password) uninstalling/reinstalling 1password, resetting Safari et cetera but none of it has made any difference. I've been running the latest Safari and latest 1password every time.
I've tried clearing cache, cookies, everything, and it still does it. Say I'm starting fresh, everything cleared. I log into facebook in Safari 4. I log out, close tab. I open tab, type face, click [URL] and it goes to the login page. Then it starts loading without me doing anything, and brings up my logged in page.
After upgrading my reader, when I'm in Safari and hit links to pdf files, they don't open (I get blank pages). I can only see them if I download them and then open.
When I first start up Safari - it automatically opens a huge number of tabs (the drop down menu on a tab right click shows an option to bookmark 99 tabs - and there are more tabs opened than I care to count). They appear to all be existing bookmarks; but could also be history.
At one point it would not let me close it at all & because it wouldn't close the OS would not allow a shutdown. So I had to do a hardware power off instead.
I played around with the setting and finnally - after severl hard reboots and a lot of try this & try that - I got it to allow itself to be closed.Â
But the 99+/- auto opens continue to be a problem. I've tried to completely clear my history, and several other property adjustments - but overall the behaviour remains very very flakely.Â
I want to make it my default browser on all my Apple things (Macbook / iTouch / iPad) but the very bad behaviour keeps pushing me back to Firefox - sigh. It feels like a very bad user design that cannot be trusted.Â
Are there some obvious know gotcha's with this browser? Or some standard settings that should never be touched? Or are these common bugs that just don't work right?

My new Macbook Air (bought one mounth ago) reboots automaticaly. It happens randomly, usually when I'm using Safari or Skype. It shuts down without any warning and log-out process, and it's keyboard keeps unresponsive about 1-2 minutes and then boots up automatically. I'm not using any "Disk cleaning app". I have reinstalled OS but unexpected reboots keeps happening.

I struggling to find the best way to zoom Safari webpages automatically. I have used an extension called AllPagesZoom but when used on Youtube pages.I'm unable to drag player scrolls properly and some radio button problems too. I have seen a solution using CSS Style Sheet to zoom but it didn't work for me. I'm wondering if there may be a solution where auto zoom is as simple as in Chrome browsers.
my safari and firefox wouldnt start download some links automatically. for examples some megaupload links and some website like this one [URL]. when u click on 'UNSUPPORTED TETHERED REDSN0W - REDSN0W LITE' firefox or safari should start the download automatically, put mine wouldnt. i have to right click and choose 'save file as' to download the file. i have a friend, she's using the same spec macbook as me and she also uses the same wifi as me, when i gave her the megaupload link which i can't download and also the website [URL], she didnt have any problem downloading them.
How can I prevent previously-deleted cookies and caches from automatically returning when I shift away from Block All Cookies in the Preferences-Privacy Panel in order to access a particular site? Boom...155 previously-deleted cookies and caches are back...

Is there a way to prevent Safari from opening all your previous tabs and windows? When I close Safari I just want everything to close as well, but when I open it later everything else opens again.
I keep having pages suddenly minimize when I didn't tell it too. This happens most frequently in Safari but also with Excel, Word and anything else I have open. Also, when I'm scrolling down a page, suddenly the page behind it will show up. It isn't because I accidentally scrolled over there. Maybe these little glitches need to be handled by the Genius Bar at an Apple Store. I'd like to avoid that, if possible.

Once i installed the latest safari update and the computer restarted, my date settings were changed to December 31, 2000. Also, random programs popped up, asking if i should allow or deny them. As well, i was disconnected from the internet. I'm not quite sure what has caused this.
I would love it if my downloads simply opened using their respective programs (e.g word documents, powerpoint slides, PDFs, etc) after they completely finished downloading in Safari.
When I download file in Safari they are deleted automatically. The message I get is: "deleted because it contained a virus". I have uninstalled and installed Safari a couple of times - to no avail. I have no trouble in other navigators.
Whenever I launch Pages, the application opens pretty much all the documents I've worked on. I take care to close all the windows, hoping that they won't launch again next time I start the application, yet they do. I can't find a setting in the preferences or Settings to disable this behavior.Â

I've never used OSX before about a week ago, but I am picking up on it well (I've used GNU/Linux for almost ten years so I know my way around an operating system). But I don't really think keychain access is working as it should...It's hard to explain. I mean, the way I understand it, shouldn't it be saving the passwords I type into Safari and auto-filling them? Because it only auto-fills some passwords. Paypal autofills, but my bank's website doesn't, and even this forum doesn't autofill. I have to type in my password every time I visit.
Is this working as intended? Is there a way I can get Safari or Keychain to fill in all passwords for me automatically? This is leopard on an iMac G5 iSight model. I did a fresh install like a week ago. Sorry if my question is vague but that's the best I can do with the amount I understand.
