Software :: Wallpaper Spanning Two Screens?

I have a dual monitor iMac system and was wondering if it is possible to have a single wallpaper spanning both monitors instead of one picture on each monitor.

I'm not sure why but whenever I go onto the internet, my wallpaper disappears and it turns blue. If I want to restore it I have to click on a different wallpaper in system preferences then click back to the one I want. Any ideas?

1/2 of the pics were already off my digital camera !!!

OK....breath....now the last nice pic from the 50% of my family vacation is on my wallpaper. OK....how do I save my wallpaper to a new image ?

In other words, the image should no longer exist because I deleted it....but its on my desktop wallpaper....I need that image !!!! Any way I can save it ????

OS X :: Screen Mirroring / Spanning?
I purchased a Mac Pro sometime back to use in my office but the person in the office next to me also frequently has use for a Mac Pro and since we can't purchase two Mac Pro's now we decided to set up a system with multiple monitors/keyboard/mouse. We ran a 2nd DVI Cable and a USB Hub over to the other office and use that for a second monitor hooked onto this Mac Pro plus a 2nd Keyboard and Mouse. Fortunately the distance was not too far and it worked out well.

we're having is trying to figure out how to do the Screen Mirroring/Spanning. The Mac Pro has two video cards. Video card 1 is the Nvidea 8800 GT and the 2nd card is an ATI 2600 XT. I have the main monitor in my office which is a 22" Samsung Widescreen hooked up as video 1 on the Nvidea card. The 2nd monitor which is an Acer 19" Widescreen monitor has been hooked up to both video 2 on the NVidea card and even video 1 on the ATI.

PowerPC :: IMac G5 Screen Spanning?
I was just wondering if the iMac G5's (the late 2005 models, last ones without isight i think) can support using a VGA/DVI monitor as a proper spanned second display with something like screen spanning doctor that works on the old iBooks, rather than just mirroring whatever is on the iMac display.

OS X Leopard :: Spanning Sparse Images Over Multiple Discs?
CCC for instance can backup a folder into multiple Xmb disc images. Is there any utility that will do it over multiple drives?

IE: 3TB need to be backed up to a 3rd location and shipped offsite. I have two external 2TB drives.

Is there any program that will just fill the first drive with what it can handle and then move on to filling the second?

IMac Intel :: Spanning From New Quad Core System To G5 Possible?
I'm about to get a new quad core 27" i5 iMac. I understand that the new 27" iMacs can both be used AS monitors from another computer as well as port their screens to another monitor. The new 21.5" iMacs apparrently can't be used as a monitor. So that's one of the reasons I went with the 27" besides the screen real-estate and faster processor. For the longevity and future proofing of being able to use it as an external monitor. Anyway....it will be replacing an old g5 iMac. The last g5 iMac apple made 5 years ago. My question is.....can I hook my g5 iMac up to my new iMac as a second monitor? Is it possible? Spanning I mean? And if so, how would I connect the two?

Applications :: Screen Spanning Doctor - Bad Medicine?
Reviewed dozens of posts on various forums and found some great advice but still having major problems. Just installed SSD on my 12" 1.33 GHz ibook G4. Super cool at first - saw the unlocked resolutions and changed to 1920x1080. Then decided it would be interesting to see the 90* rotation view. BIG mistake. did not work- screen looked weird then went blank.

had to shut down and restart without external monitor connected in order to see anything but a blank, grey, blue, or weird screen. now I cannot even get the regular mirror setting to work- no external monitor viewing at all. 1) won't recognize external display unless I restart with it already connected. 2) even then, only shows blue screen (color of my desktop) but nothing else anywhere to be found. 3) with Screen Spanning Doctor enabled, still get weird looking screen - external display still appears rotated 90 degrees based on mouse pointer movements, but cannot see anything except gray hash. Tried disabling ScreenSpanningDoctor, deleting it from trash, resetting PRAM and NVRAM (unless they did not reset for some reason though I followed apple's instructions), and repaired disk permissions.

Still same situation. Would be thrilled to get original settings back. Then I would probably try SSD again but avoid the rotation feature which I assume my ibook is not compatible with. Please help. Thank you.

Snow Leopard :: OSX 10.6 Got A Disc-Spanning Facility Like Toast?
A few weeks ago whilst rooting around in my iMac I am sure I saw a disc-spanning facility like you have in Toast.

For anyone who doesn't know, disc-spanning enables you to split something like an 8GB disk image onto 2 standard DVDs for storage.

When you want to use it, the computer magically combines the two (or more) sections to "reconstitute" the disk image etc. back to its original condition.

When I saw this facility I thought, "I don't need Toast anymore".

However, I can't find it now. So did I imagine it or can someone tell me where it is?

After searching I have found an ability to make "Concatenated Disk Sets" but I don't think that is the same thing. It seems to apply mainly to Hard Drives.

Applications :: Quicktime Pro - Full Screen Movie Spanning Multiple Monitors?
I'm looking to build a kind of video wall. I have 4 LCD monitors which I've hooked up to a Mac pro to get a resolution of 3840x2104 on screen. Then I made an After Effects movie of a white box bouncing around the screen rendered at 3840x2104. What I'd like to be able to do is play the movie full screen and have it actually fill all four screens, but when I do Cmd+F and make it "full-screen", Quicktime is insistent on just filling one of my screens. I can expand the window (in non-full screen mode) to fill all four monitors, but then I have borders everwhere which I don't want (IE, the OS X menu bar and the "play" buttons at the bottom, etc). Quicktime has full screen settings which allow you to choose which monitor you'd like to fill, but (from what I can tell) there's no way to have it use more than one monitor. Does anyone know of a way I can play the movie across all four screens? I thought maybe another media player would offer this functionality, but I tried using VLC and it didn't seem to. Are there any other third party packages supporting H.264 that might offer this? Is there some plugin or method for Quicktime to beat it into submission?

Applications :: Using Spanning Sync Or Busy Sync?
A year ago I tested Spanning Sync for syncing my iCal with Google calendar. It worked out very well and I subscribed for one year (25 USD). Now there is version 2 around the corner that will add contact sync support. I have tried the beta and that works very well too.

My subscription is to end soon and I am thinking about extending. That would be another 25 USD for a year or 65 USD for life long subscription. Meanwhile I encountered another product called Busy Sync. I does almost the same (except contact syncing). With a coupon a single license per computer is 20 USD aka 40 USD for both of my macs.

Aperture :: A3 And Two Screens
I am a Lightroom user, trying out the new A3 demo to see if I can be wowed over.
I use two screens, and I am used to having the grid view of all images on one screen, and the full size version of the one I am working on showing on the other screen.

I have found the Secondary Viewer option, but can only get it to work when I have clicked the full screen button. Is that the only way to get it to use both screens?

On a side note, one cannot switch Spaces when in Full Screen Mode.

OS X :: Close All Open Screens At Once?
I would like to know how I can get one single info screen from the files I have selected. For example I have been working on my music files lately and I often want to get information about the size of the selected music files or music folders. But when I select them I don't get one screen telling me how big the selected files all together are, but a screen will open for every single file or folder. So you need to calculate it by yourself in order to get the total sum. Is there a way to avoid this? Then another thing: I can't find a function for closing all the open screens at once. Is there a way how I could close them all at once, because now I need to close them all separately. Like a couple of days ago I accidentally opened something which contains like 100 folders or more even. When I found it out, I couldn't stop it anymore and all the screens started to open. I had to close all the more than 100 screens one by one.

OS X :: Looking For Wallpaper Folder?
Not that long ago, I found the folder that contains all the wallpaper backgrounds - I think it was somewhere in the Library? Anyways, after I found it, I added some of my own wallpaper images to the folder, so that they showed up in the pre-set folders of Nature, Plants, Abstract, etc, and not in my New Desktop Wallpapers folder. Well, now I have some new backgrounds I want to add, and for the life of me I can't remember where I found that folder before! I looked in the Library and the closest thing there is the Screensavers folder, but no wallpapers. Anyone know where this is located??
