Done some research on Yahoo Messenger for Mac and Skype for Mac and both say that can do video / audio chat with their Windows counterparts. However, it appears there are still problems. Any users out there can give me some feedback on their audio / video performance.

On skype, can : me, my mum, and my dad all be on the video chat at once? If it cant what program will let me do this?

Or if there's a way to configure one of the others out there to only work on the LAN that would work too.

I have looked at ichat and like it but it doesn't work with many of the above services. Also, I have seen some clients that may work with msn but chat only, not video. I want to be able to use video whenever possible.
What are some good mac instant messaging clients that I should look at?
So I just got a MacBook Pro a couple months ago, and I am having issues using webcam chat in Yahoo Messenger for Mac. The built in iSight cam doesn't seem to turn on (no green light) when I try to use it, and the person on the other end just sees a black screen for my webcam.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recently bought a Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 for Mac. If I connect the cam then I can find it back in "About this Mac - More Info - USB" as Logitech webcam. I also can use it in iChat. But when I log in on an Instant Messenger Chat, the Adobe Flash Player settings only recognise the iSight as webcam...not the Logitech. The Apple help desk directed me to Logitech and Logitech told me that it is somewhere in the apple programs.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an early 09 mini, and have a problem with skype. I have a new logitec c500 webcamera that works with my pc. The skype account works with my first gen black macbook, but on the newer mini I can see myself but the audio does not work. The cam connects to one of the usb ports and I've configured sounds to "unrecognized usb sound device" that came up after I plugged the camera in the mini, but on the "test calls" I still can't hear myself. The skype for mac is a beta, but others seem to do ok.

Whenever I do some audio or video chatting it seems subjectively better than iChat. (Both on a Mac tried close after one another.
My iMac C2Duo 20" gets error messages when attempting a Video Chat in 10.5.8 with iChat 4.0.8. If I boot up from FW drive using 10.4.11 everything works.
When I initiate a Video Chat, after a while I get a pop up "There was a communication error during your chat. (recipient) cancelled the connection."
When I ACCEPT a Video Chat invite, I get a pop up "There was a communication error during your chat. Did not receive a response from (initiator)."
I should mention that there is also a networking problem in 10.5.8 that disappears if I boot up from the FW drive with 10.4.11. The Internet Sharing will randomly stop working for no apparent reason. I'll be connected to interenet using iPhone 3GS or old iBook G4 running 10.5.8 and suddenly I'm "no longer connected to the internet". Sometimes stopping and restarting Internet Sharing solves it for a while, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it will work for days, other times for minutes or quit overnight.
I have successfully managed to integrate facebook chat in iChat. However, I was wondering whether it is possible to video chat with through facebook chat provided both people are using iChat. Does anyone know if this works?

is there a way to turn off audio sound effects/ notifications when you chat with somebody on Skype? As well as when people signin?
The only settings for audio is just for when signing in but there's no option to shut off any other sound effects.
Any suggestions?
I'm really new to mac. I have a Macbook, equipped with iChat (of course) and the built-in iSight. My boyfriend is a cadet at the United States Military Academy, and has a PC laptop, a Dell if that matters. I want to be able to one-way video chat with him (so he can see me, and we can hear each other) but they are only allowed to use AIM there. In other words he is not allowed to use ANY OTHER messenger program. We used to use Skype until he found out AIM is the only program permitted. How do I get this to work?

When we go to connect, the box appears on her computer but it is completely black. It shows that we are connected but she does not see any image. From what I have read it is possible to one-way chat from Ichat to AIM no problem but she is unable to see/hear me.
