Looking at the 2012 13" model with 2.5Gzh I5 chip and 4GB RAM, any one know if this will work ok for designing on using the latest Adobe CS6 design standard suite? ALso can the 13" be connected to a standard DVI monitor using an adapter for the thunderbolt port.
I cannot view my PPDS in Quark Xpress. Just got a new iMac with version 10.5.4 and I am using version 6.2 Quark. My PPDS are installed, but I don't know why I can't see any of them.
I am running Quark 9 on a MacBook Pro using Lion and just noticed that after an update my tool bar and measurements bar are not showing up. The box opens up for the tools but you can't see anything in the box it's just grey. Same with the measurements. I've restarted the computer a few time, but no luck.
We have a large layout doc for an upcoming book and it's giving the design team trouble. Running XPress7.2 on a Mac OSX 4.11, which is running out of RAM sometimes, and my colleagues are finding edits our lead designer enters and saves disappearing from permanent file. It seems the editing rounds are missing only a fraction of the edits, too many to be explained by operator error, and distributed throughout a project stage. For example, if they save 60 text changes in a day, they might find 10 undone the next day. Now, while I can't think of anything more entertaining than poring over print docs to track old edits, my colleagues are wimping out! We are running out of RAM but the hard drive still has lots of free space. Files are in the 20-30 MB range.
Since we added 2 new Imacs to our network last week, anytime we double click on a file, it makes a copy...if you double click on the copy it opens up. If you drag file to the Quark icon, it opens OK, but you can only do 1 save, then you have to do Save as because you get "unexpected end of file encountered". We have a simple network that assigns IP addresses to those things on the network if that helps. Any ideas?? Oh yea, new imacs are running Leopard and we are still using Quark 6.5 on them...one has 7.1 loaded, but it has the same problems.
I'm using QuarkXpress 8.3 to try to convert a print file for a magazine into an HTML version of the file. (We've been converting to PDF's but my boss wants to try HTML now.) When I try to convert the file to HTML, Quark crashes.
The file is 21 2-page-spreads. I've tried duplicating the layout and converting it to a web page in the process and I've tried just converting it to a web file. It crashes either way.
The work-around that I've come up with is to make 21 copies of the file and then delete all but one layer in each file so that each layer is held in a separate file. That keeps it from crashing but now nothing is connected. They aren't even in the same project now.
Finally figured out that Suitcase was causing problems. Uninstalled it and now Adobe InDesign and Illustrator will not launch. how I can get them started again?
My mac with the full version is in the shop and I need to do some work on a project done in InDesign CS3 on another Mac. I'm not having any luck finding a trial version of it anywhere.
I have a MacBook Pro with 10.5.3 running Adobe CS3. When I try and open a file from InDesign from the finder (double click in a folder), InDesign will freeze up and I have to do a Force Quit to close it. Unfortunately, this problem is intermittent and doesn't happen all the time, but probably once a day.
I have a 33 page doc and the final 3 pages wont print. I've tried turning them into a PDF coping them into another doc but nothing seems to work! Have I set up my Indesign doc out wrongly?
Will Adobe Pagemaker 6.5 for mac install on OSX lion (brand new mac-mini) so I can upgrade it to Adobe InDesign (which I already own, but it is an upgrade version)?
Adobe InDesign CS6 appears to be crashing with the simplest of tasks many for many of us with new MacBook Pros. Hope Apple/Adobe work swiftly to get this fixed! These machine and this software is far too expensive for this kind of kink.
Info: MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), Mac OS X (10.7.4)
My version of InDesign CS4, will always crash after sleeping, especially when I have files open from a server volume. I've turned off the sleep hard disks when possible option in sys prefs.
Here is the interesting part of the crash log:
0 PublicLib.dylib 0x010eaf97
ProtectiveShutdown::~ProtectiveShutdown() + 279
1 DataBaseLib.dylib 0x0106deda
SUIDS::HandleLostNetConnect(IDFile const&) + 122
This never used to happen before when leaving files open from a server volume and sleeping.
Is there a way in Indesign to have a gradient fade to 0%? I can't figure out how to do it. I could do it in Photoshop i guess, but there should be a way to do it.
CS3 adds the file extension .INDD, and therefore will not replace the CS2 version of the document that does not contain the suffix. How do I save Indesign CS3 documents without the file extension so saving will replace the CS2 file? MAC 10.4.11
I am trying to print a duplex copy on a HP CLJ 5550dn with Adobe InDesign CS4, I have recently upgraded from CS2 and had no problems with that in the past.
The problem I am having is that the duplex print only prints 3 quarters of the whole page either site. This is also happening on the one sided printouts too
One day InDesign just disappeared. the rest of CS5 is still in the app folder. i really need to find it because i recently moved and cannot find my software.
I use Adobe CS4 regularly. I could print fine from all apps in CS4 until yesterday when I tried to print from InDesign CS4 and the app crashed. All other apps in CS4 print fine, as do all other apps. I've attempted to create a new print preset and also tried to edit the printer default, but InDesign crashes every time.
The only things I've done differently (or new) was to test a new antivirus app (Anti-Virus Software for Mac Protection | Kaspersky Lab United States) and also to download and try out the new Firefox 11. I also created a couple of pdf files in InDesign (as I've done dozens of times with no problems).
Does anyone have any idea what might be going on in the attached image below? This is how a PDF file exported from InDesign is printing. It is not displaying like this at all on the screen. The frame around the photo is an EPS file layered on top of the photo. It views fine, and prints fine except for 2 photos.
All the photos print fine, except for 2 of them which have these odd triangles on them. The image is a scan of the printed file. Again, it does not appear when I view the PDF on screen, only when it's printed. If I remove the border/EPS, it will print fine. But I'd like to use the border, so I'd like to know what the problem is.
if there was another program available for mac that preformed a similar function to that of Adobe Indesign CS3? I have heard of a program called Swift Publisher, but that does not seem to suit my needs fully. Pages also seems to be a tad too simple for what I intend it to be. So, to restate, is there a program which performs a similar function to that of Adobe Indesign?
Ever since our design studio upgraded to InDesign CS4, some of our machines are now VERY slow to open documents (it takes documents approx. 713 times longer to open). Also, just using InDesign seems much slower than CS3 (like dragging things, typing, etc.).
The funny thing is this problem only seems to affect our designers who have PowerPC G5 Macs not the ones with Intel Macs. I realise CS4 will be optimised for Intel machines, but surely it shouldn't be this much slower on G5s?
I own Adobe Creative Suite 2cs premium with Acrobat professional 8
Adobe updater automatically updated Acrobat and since that happened, my InDesign and Illustrator is not working. When I launch Illustrator it just hangs, and when Iaunch InDesign it asks me to "Personalize my copy" but will not allow me to put my serial number in.
I found cpsid_53468 on the adobe website and downloaded a disk image, followed the directions and installed it in my root library folder, as they described. I have tried this many times, and my software is still not working.
I called the support line, and they tell me that this is not supported anymore.
If this is the case, why is Adobe automatically updating Acrobat 8?
I called them and they told me they are not supporting CS2 any longer.
