Oct 7, 2008Looking for a bit of direction. My MacMini got flooded (please don't ask!); and has pretty well died (BTW, I'm in Switzerland). The repair quote from an authorised Apple shop was for about the same as a new Mac Mini. Makes sense for me to do that...
Q1: how likely is it that my data (really only concerned about JPGs from iPhoto, and music from iTunes) will still be OK?
Q2: do I need a data recovery specialist? Any "simple" tricks to offload my data from the old HDD, onto my (not yet purchased) new Mac Mini?

My question is 2.3ghz VS 2.6ghz Retina is it worth the extra money? I know you also get another 256gb of space but man $600 is a lot. So it hinges on the 2.3-2.6 upgrade as i think i can live withough the extra disk space. Should i just get the 2.3 and save the money or is 2.6 going to be a noticable difference. When I try and open a file from InDesign from the finder (double click in a folder), InDesign will freeze up and I have to do a Force Quit to close it. Unfortunately, this problem is intermittent and doesn't happen all the time, but probably once a day.
