MacBook Pro :: Adobe InDesign Crashes When Trying To Print
Apr 12, 2012
I use Adobe CS4 regularly. I could print fine from all apps in CS4 until yesterday when I tried to print from InDesign CS4 and the app crashed. All other apps in CS4 print fine, as do all other apps. I've attempted to create a new print preset and also tried to edit the printer default, but InDesign crashes every time.
The only things I've done differently (or new) was to test a new antivirus app (Anti-Virus Software for Mac Protection | Kaspersky Lab United States) and also to download and try out the new Firefox 11. I also created a couple of pdf files in InDesign (as I've done dozens of times with no problems).

Adobe InDesign CS6 appears to be crashing with the simplest of tasks many for many of us with new MacBook Pros. Hope Apple/Adobe work swiftly to get this fixed! These machine and this software is far too expensive for this kind of kink.

if there was another program available for mac that preformed a similar function to that of Adobe Indesign CS3? I have heard of a program called Swift Publisher, but that does not seem to suit my needs fully. Pages also seems to be a tad too simple for what I intend it to be. So, to restate, is there a program which performs a similar function to that of Adobe Indesign?

Ever since our design studio upgraded to InDesign CS4, some of our machines are now VERY slow to open documents (it takes documents approx. 713 times longer to open). Also, just using InDesign seems much slower than CS3 (like dragging things, typing, etc.).
The funny thing is this problem only seems to affect our designers who have PowerPC G5 Macs not the ones with Intel Macs. I realise CS4 will be optimised for Intel machines, but surely it shouldn't be this much slower on G5s?

My version of InDesign CS4, will always crash after sleeping, especially when I have files open from a server volume. I've turned off the sleep hard disks when possible option in sys prefs.
Here is the interesting part of the crash log:
0 PublicLib.dylib 0x010eaf97
ProtectiveShutdown::~ProtectiveShutdown() + 279
1 DataBaseLib.dylib 0x0106deda
SUIDS::HandleLostNetConnect(IDFile const&) + 122
This never used to happen before when leaving files open from a server volume and sleeping.

I need to make same technical documents but I'd like to create a good layout for them, not a simple "blank and white" document so I'm looking for an application let us say between Ms Word and Adobe InDesign. Can anyone suggest me an application? I have tried Swift Publisher but it misses some basic features such a spell checker.

Does anyone have any idea what might be going on in the attached image below? This is how a PDF file exported from InDesign is printing. It is not displaying like this at all on the screen. The frame around the photo is an EPS file layered on top of the photo. It views fine, and prints fine except for 2 photos.
All the photos print fine, except for 2 of them which have these odd triangles on them. The image is a scan of the printed file. Again, it does not appear when I view the PDF on screen, only when it's printed. If I remove the border/EPS, it will print fine. But I'd like to use the border, so I'd like to know what the problem is.

i'm trying to print some stuff off using adobe and some parts are printing, but some aren't. I've had this problem before i would print of some formula sheets for my finance class and basically if it wasn't a letter it wouldn't print it off but now it's taking out a lot more.
in the first picture you can see how i went through and wrote the stuff in, wasn't that big of a deal.
second picture is one page from the file that printed out fine
third picture, the entire top part is supposed to have a paragraph on it.

This is driving me crazy. I've just downloaded and reinstalled the latest Adobe Reader. But Safari is still acting up. I see the watch icon instead of my mouse when I click on a link to a PDF. Then I just see a white screen and I end up having to force quit Safari.

When I was using Leopard and I hit "Print" I'd click the Preview button on the bottom left and Apple's "Preview.app" would open the document to be printed (with a Cancel & Print button at the bottom of the dialog box).Now in Snow Leopard, when I choose to see the finished product before I print, I click on "Preview" and Adobe Acrobat opens the item I want to print (which does not have a Cancel or Print button available).800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, Mac OS X (10.6.1)

I'm a bit confused here. I pay my phone bill online and recently started printing the receipts to the "pdf printer" on my mac so I can store them electronically. However, I cannot find the folder where the receipts are being printed to. Does anyone know the location of this standard folder in Snow Leopard?

I've tried everything, and cannot get my 7400 Xerox Phaser to print any Adobe document. I'm using CS5. I've downloaded drivers, driver updates, driver patches. I've reinstalled the Adobe programs. I do get a "communications error" on some other programs, but they still print. I used to get this message with the Adobe programs, but they were still printing until yesterday. Xerox says it's a "Mac thing." Adobe's site is absolutely with no support?

I had to download software compatible with 10.7.4 in order to run a Canon iX6520 Printer, including Easy - PhotoPrint EX. It worked for a while, but now crashes every time I try to use it, just after clicking on "Print". How to correct this?

found this on Adobe-
[url]..
seems they are blaming it on a software update from Apple.
I have a new Macbook Air and the lastest software from Apple and Adobe. Can barely work with InDesign or InCopy at the moment!

I have a MacBook Pro with 10.5.3 running Adobe CS3. When I try and open a file from InDesign from the finder (double click in a folder), InDesign will freeze up and I have to do a Force Quit to close it. Unfortunately, this problem is intermittent and doesn't happen all the time, but probably once a day.

I have recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks and am now having problem with my hp 4500 office jet printer. The print icon tends to stay on the dock after the print job is done and then mess up the print queue. Even worse if I forget to cancel it manually then when I put the computer on 'sleep' the printer starts up again and the whole job is rerun unless I get to cancel it quickly on the printer! Â
It does not always do this (the print icon disappearing as it should do), but for 90% of the time it does.Â

I plan to get a mac book pro this month. I plan to use programs such as photoshop, illustrator, indesign, and dreamweaver on a daily basis. I do not know if I should get the high end model : 2.6GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB750GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpmSuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)MacBook Pro 15-inch Glossy Widescreen Display I can always get an anti glare enclosue of film for the screen. or The lower end model custom built: 2.3GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB1TB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpmSuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)MacBook Pro 15-inch Hi-Res Antiglare Widescreen Display I guess my concern is the dedicated graphics card as well as the speed of the programs, I do not want a year to pass and my computer is slower than ever.Is the 2.6ghz really more noticable than the 2.3ghz. Does the graphics card 1GB difere from the 512 in terms of performance. I tend to have two to three programs open. I did not plan on exceed $2500 including apple care.

I have had difficulty in attaching my HP Photosmart C5580 printer to my new MacBookPro (OSX 10.6) through my Netgear WGPS606 print server. After much searching I found previous posts here which advised me to add the Gutenprint driver 5.2.6 which I did. That finally DID successfully attach the printer through the server.
However, there is a lag of many seconds (sometimes minutes) between the SEND command and the starting of the printer. Is this the new normal that I need to expect or is there a fix?
