I received my 15" MacBook Pro 3 days ago and tonight I happened to notice a slight click noise when i open or close the lid. It sounds like it is coming from the hinge area.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI plugged in a Shure AXS1 microphone into the analog stereo line-level input.In the system prefs I set the Input to Line in.The midi panel to built in line input. When recording in Audition the sound level is really low and coming out only on the right channel (speaker). Why is it coming out on one channel?I can deal with a low level sound recording but coming out only on one channel on playback has stumped me. I've been playing with all the settings but no luck.Second. When recording is it normal not being able to hear yourself playfrom the speakers?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI know this may seem silly to ask, but I have read that the hinge is a bit vulnerable on the macbook pro, & mine will mostly be at home on a desk, but I may occasionally take it out. When I have it at home & shut down for the day, will closing the lid, & then opening it the next day weaken it? could I just leave the lid open when the laptop is shut down at the desk?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got a 13" Unibody MBP, lower-end model, in July. Since then I've noticed various issues.
First of all, I have the common beachball problem. There's no click/beep sound associated with it like some have, and I've noticed clearing out my cache and occasional restarts have helped that. But in general things seem to be much slower than when I first got it... But of course I have many more programs installed, but very few are actually running.
I remember it being nearly completely silent when I first got it. Now I can hear noises when it loads web pages, applications, etc. that reminds me of the noise you'd head from an old desktop. Was I just imagining that it was silent before? The fans seem to run more often, as well.
Also, my audio jack is more and more often not detecting when something is plugged in to it. Usually putting it in to sleep and waking it back up helps.
Anyway, all of these together make me wonder if I should be paying a visit to the Apple store, and if so, what should I ask?
When ever i open or close the case for my white macbook it makes a creeky noise. Is this normal or should i go to the apple store and get them to check it for me?
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy 13" MacBook Pro (Mid 2011) is making a loud click, or snapping noise whenever the clamshell is closed, or moved a little sometimes. It's becoming very persistant and doesn't seem normal. Most of the time it does make the noise (which is from the back right). I'm taking it in tomorrow under warranty. Any suggestions? Is this normal? The screen also moves smoothly and is always in place. It's all strange and hopefully they can replace the hinge.Â

As anyone else noticed a "creeking/cracking" noise when opening and closing their MBA? I have babied my MBA ever since I got it, no drops or dents, and then one day it started making a creeking and cracking in the lower right hand corner of the screen (next to the hinge). Is anyone else experiencing this? Has anyone come up with a solution to eliminate the noise?

I didnt notice it at when i first got the unit, but now it seems to be getting progressively worst. Also was wondering, does anyone else find the case flimsy around the ports on the left handside? I can push the plastic in and out with my pinky.

is there a way to open all tabs in a bookmark folder at once without having Safari automatically close the ones already open?In firefox when you click to open all bookmarks in new tabs, they start right after the last tab already open but with Safari you lose the tabs you were using!
View 4 Replies View RelatedToday, suddenly, my finder has started quitting whenever I go to the "applications" tab. Every other part of the finder works but the applications refuse to open. It's worrying me because I think it could be one of those few mac viruses. I'm running a virus scan at the moment to see.
Also on the possible virus front. I had cleaned my HDD the other day and gotten it to 58 gigs left of free space. A few days later it came up as 78 free though which confused me.
I am starting to a hear a clicking sound opening and closing my new MBP. It sounds like a loose hinge or a cable getting caught or something.
I took it to an Apple store to see if they could pop it open and take a look but they said they would have to send it away and it would take 7 to 10 business day. I really don't want to be without my new computer for 7 to 10 days. It isn't that big of deal but it does tick me off every time time I open and close and I worry that if it is a cable it would eventually cause a problem.

I tried to open Safari on an iBook with a new hard drive. Wouldn't open it after clicking and clicking and doubleclicking some more on the trackpad. Sometimes this happens on my 12" PB too. It won't open apps normally with the doubleclick on the trackpad

Sometimes when I'm working fast on my MacBook I click in the dock, opening applications that I don't want. This is a bit annoying to me, anyone knows how customize the dock in order it needs a double click to open the application - like is happens in the Applications folder?

This is really bugging me as I only want to select the file (to move it etc). Is there any way to prevent single click file opening?

I am a converted user from PC to MAC and preach the benefits of Apple OS X et al to colleagues, friends and family. This morning I noticed some slight peeling on the bottom right side (near trackpad) of my Macbook Pro. At first I did not realise what it was, I thought it might be some surface marking / dust. I wiped the area with a dry cloth at which point a small part of the surface came away. Here is a link showing images that I have just taken. Need some constructive advice from the forum on what to do?
