Im having trouble opening the ports on my router in order to enable people to get my nicecast broadcast. I am running off a regular wireless router not an airport station and i dont have the software for the router.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys 160N wireless N router. I have my MBP hooking up wirelessly and I have another PC wired to the router. That's about where it stops being a normal setup.If I have my MBP in sleep mode or off, my PC which is wired, loads very slow if at all. Now if I have my MBP on and I am using it, the PC works perfectly normal.I changed over the LAN ports on the router and I still get the same effect.

The MBA is advertised to run an external, such as an ACD.
I jut looked at the ports and i find it really strange that the MagSafe connector is on the left, but the mini display port is on the right... Now you will have cables on both sides? How does this work with the set of MagSafe + display port + USB in an ACD? I don't think they are long enough to go around? Or would you have to plus in the other MagSafe and just use the right side for display port and USB. That is silly though.

View 5 Replies View Related I got my first iMac last week so I'm a newbie to OSx, however I've come across something.I've not been able to find an answer to via a search engine.I have a port open for the program 'Transmission' in my router's settings. I've tried several, and I've followed several different guides on how to do this, and yet it always tells me that the port is closed. Now, I know Mac has like infinitely better security than Windows does, but does it also mean that all the ports are going to be closed all the time? I have no idea, so I thought I'd ask here. It's a Netgear router, and I've followed a specific guide on it via. I've allowed the program to go through the Firewall too.
How to open port for torrent clients? I have BitTorrent, Bitrockets, Transmission but not of above has port open (shows red light). What I have:
G5, PPC

WiFi router DLink Dir-300
In firewall all above apps has allowed to incoming
In dir 300 i put port forwarding this way

additionally in Firewall settings in Dir-300 make the next

For security reasons I would like to have as few open TCP ports as possible on my iMac, leaving open only those that I feel are worthwhile having enabled. How can I go about to
a) identify which TCP ports are currently open on the system
b) identify the processes that have opened the ports and understand the origin and purpose of those process
c) disable the processes that have ports open, if I feel that there is no good reason for having them open

I'm currently running a fairly small online radio operation from my iMac with Nicecast. I am using Nicecast's built-in server to stream an m3u file to peers at 128k each. Being a home user, my upload bandwidth is relatively narrow, and I face severe instability, lag, buffering, and disconnection issues when I get to a certain number of peers.
What I want to do is stream one m3u file to a web player which anyone could connect do without connecting directly to my system. That way I would only need to stream to one peer (that being the player) and therefore would have no bandwidth issues to worry about.
Whenever I begin broadcasting in Nicecast, it works perfectly streaming iTunes and everything, but when I turn the Voiceover effect on it just doesn't work.
My mic is compatible with the program as it streams fine with the Microphone setting and I've tried several microphones with the Voiceover effect, the effect just doesn't work. Any patches for this or something?
How do I change the ports Open Directory runs on? Is there an LDAP config file somewhere? I need to change port 636 to something else

I am having a problem with making the router they supplied my default router.I am not trying to piggy back or connect additional routers. I just want to use the Fios router.Prior to Fios, I had Time Warner and i used my own router and as soon as I opened up my macbook, it would immediately find that router as my default. Upstairs I have my AT&T provided router's wireless turned off and have plugged my Airport Extreme into the ethernet in DMZ mode. Wireless works fine in the house.Downstairs my Xbox 360's ethernet cable is plugged into my AT&T provided set-top box (receiver/DVR) and internet works fine on that. I cannot stream my media (using 360 Connect) from my mac to my xbox since they are on different networks, although using the same U-verse connection.When checking the AT&T router's system summary page I can see that there is an IP assigned to the xbox.
