i just bought a netgear rangemax wireless router wpn824 and wanted to make sure i could set it up with my whitebook. it says there's an installation cd inside and "supports windows vista" (ew) so i just wanted to make sure before i opened it that i wouldn't run into any problems using a mac. hoping i don't need a windows machine to make this work.

I recently acquired an iBook G3 600MHZ with an Wireless B Airport Card. My router is a Netgear WNR2000 that is standard N but is backwards compatible with b/g. I have no idea how to set this up. I've tried and it doesn't connect. Oh, and I am running 10.2.8.
I went to Starbucks and it connected there instantly. So I don't know what's going on.

I have a Linksys Wireless Router and a Linksys Modem, the router is 6 years old or so 802.11b, how much faster would the Internet be if I had a combined Linksys wireless router/modem versus the 802.11b that I have now?
Would I see a huge difference? I am running my Macbook off it and an olde Toshiba laptop.

I just switched from DSL to Cable and had to buy a router for the cable modem. I can't get it to configure with my Mac Pro. It worked with my Macbook Pro after some fiddeling. It's a Netgear gigabit router. My Mac's normally just hook up to the networks.
Info:
Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

The trouble I am having here is on my 2.4 MacBook Pro, disconnecting from my netgear router about every 10 minutes. I also have a G5 that is on wifi with the same router but never gets disconnected, I do not know what to do, I am getting sick of getting up to reset this connection every 10 minutes there has to be a way to stay connected.

Someone told me this was a good wireless router to use with Mac OS X, but now that I've bought it I can't get it to work. I tried plugging my computer into the router and the router into my DSL modem, but when I turn them all on in sequence (modem, router, Mac), I can't connect to the internet. Does anyone have experience with this router?

I have an old Belkin pre-N router and Virgin internet.
I am considering getting a new router and was wondering what people think about the airport extreme versus others, specifically the Netgear N300 dual band routers, such as the WNDR3700? Both are about the same price.
I have 3 Macbook Pros and an old Windows xp computer and my mac pro currently on our home network, with my mac pro on the ethernet cable and the rest on wireless.
Is the range on the airport extreme good for outdoors as well as going through walls to upstairs?

This is I believe a NetGear router issue (or maybe a Comcast issue), but has anyone else seen this.
When I download content using iTunes, the router will just halt every 20 to 100 MB of download. I can get restart the download (for 20 to 100 MB) by rebooting the router. But this is no way to live.
It is my assumption that the NetGear router is the cause, although I've had it for several years. But a second possibility is download caps on with Comcast ISP.
If anyone knows the cause for these issue, I'd like to hear it. What would the ISP like Comcast do to an iTunes download load if you hit a download cap? Would it have that symptom?

I bought a Seagate 1TB USB HDD from Amazon. It says works with windows on the box but I wanted to use it to store and share files over my network via the readyshare feature on my Netgear router.
Is it not possible to use this product with a mac? Are there any recommendations as to HDDs suitable for my purpose?

I have an older MacPro 2006 model. I need a WiFi card for it. I want to know which one to get. Says a 802.11g AirPort Extreme will work. But is that only for Airport routers or can I use it with my Netgear router? Does it matter?

My iMac could see and connect to my previous Netgear N300 router, which I replaced with the same model router after it got fried by a lightning strike. All my devices (ipods/tablet) see and connect to the replacement router, except my iMac. so the problem is with this desk top.It sees but refuses to connect to the new router. I suspect the imac is not allowing the previous profile to be overridden.

It took me a lOOONG time but I finally bit the bullet and bought a macbook. So far so good, I will be giving it a memory upgrade in a few weeks but right now I could use some serious help.
The computer won't connect to my Netgear WGR614 wifi router. I called Apple, they said the airport works and I may need a router firmware update. I updated the Netgear router. I have tried using the WEP, the WPA and also tried with the router set to zero security. The macbook still won't connect. Here is the kicker, my old windows based laptop and my wifes newer netbook picked up the new upgrade without issue.
The macbook (I loaded all the macbook updates with hardwire) will go through the network diagnostics and end up being unable solve the problem.

I have been struggling for ages to get my Internet DSL access through all the rooms in our house but lamentably failed so far.
My main router is a Netgear Wireless DG834G V2, 54MBPS. 2.4 GHz, 802.11g that works perfectly within a limited range.
Hoping to extend my range of access, I have added to it my old Airport Extreme Base Station 54 Mbps 802.11g, connected with an ethernet cable.
But still, the connection fails to connect in one bedroom upstairs, only a few feet away from the bathroom and other rooms that receive both a clear connection.
I tried connecting my some 4 years old Airport Express in this bedroom but I could not succeed having the green light ever?
Can anyone helps with a simple, clear and detailed explanation on how to process to set-up this system right?
Do I really need to have the Apple Extreme connected to the Netgear?
Should I replace the old 834G router by a more powerful one and which model would you recommend?
Or should I scrap Netgear and use only Apple Extreme Base Station (or the latest model)?

I have finally retired my 13 inch macbook i've had for over 3 years. I bought one of the unibody 13" macbook pros and did a clean snow leopard installation, then upgraded to 10.6.1. Since then my mac experience has gone from bright sunny days to death and doom.
My airport is the major issue, it keeps dropping signal and doesn't pick up my netgear router. it works for 5-10 minutes then just looses it by itself. i try and see if there is an update or something for it but it crashes the airport and i have to switch the airport off and then on again. This is along with all my favorite snow leopard/13" mbp issues which include but not limited to the laptop freezes, hangups, and just failing to come out of sleep mode!!! most of these issues requires me to force restart the machine. I'm now back to my old laptop seeing that I'm struggling to connect wirelessly.

my wireless routers network ports are all used up, and i need more ports, is there a hub of some sort that i can get?
the reason is, im thinking of getting a second time capsule.
my first time capsule is being used mainly to transfer files from my macbook to my pc.
and i would like to get a second time capsule to use it mainly for data storage.
is it a good idea to get a second time capsule or just get something that is faster like drobo?

I have mini with a wireless g card and a my MB with it's wireless n card on my network at home. My router is a fairly old Netgear wireless g router. My MB is extremely slow at times on my home network. I've never heard of backwards compatibility issues with wireless n cards, but I'm at a loss to explain this. It sometimes takes close to a minute to completely load a page on my MB.

I have just got my 1Tb time capsule and there are a lot of confusing descriptions of how to connect it.
At the moment I have just selected "join existing wireless network" which is a ADSL 2.4ghz G Router that came with my internet package (Thompson TG585 v7).
Does this mean that all traffic goes via the ADSL Router and that I will not be using the 5ghz band when I back up so that all the data will follow a path like this and have slow data rates? :
MAC --2.4ghz--> ADSL Router --2.4ghz--> TC
or will I be communicating directly with the TC at 5ghz for backups and data transfer and 2.4ghz with the ADSL router for internet like this? :
MAC --5ghz--> TC
ADSL Router --2.4ghz--> MAC
If this is not a good setup, what setup would allow me to get the full speed to the time capsule and be connected to the internet.

I just recently got Verizon Fios internet. I am having a problem with making the router they supplied my default router.I am not trying to piggy back or connect additional routers. I just want to use the Fios router.Prior to Fios, I had Time Warner and i used my own router and as soon as I opened up my macbook, it would immediately find that router as my default. Now, with Fios, when i open my "Airport" icon at the top on my screen, it NEVER choses my Fios router as my default, making me change to it every time i want to use my internet after opening up my computer.

I have an airport extreme base station (wireless n draft). problem is, my room is all the way in the back and i get poor reception. Can i just buy another standard $40 wireless G router and "extend" my wireless network? if so, how easy would this be to accomplish? would it be as simple as hooking up the $40 router with my airport extreme using via ethernet cable so that it extends it? update: I am looking at this router...would this accomplish my purpose? Upstairs I have my AT&T provided router's wireless turned off and have plugged my Airport Extreme into the ethernet in DMZ mode. Wireless works fine in the house.Downstairs my Xbox 360's ethernet cable is plugged into my AT&T provided set-top box (receiver/DVR) and internet works fine on that. I cannot stream my media (using 360 Connect) from my mac to my xbox since they are on different networks, although using the same U-verse connection. When checking the AT&T router's system summary page I can see that there is an IP assigned to the xbox.
