Software :: Can Burn An ISO Image To A Cd?
Feb 18, 2008With the software that comes pre-installed with the new aluminum imacs can you burn an ISO image to a cd. I am trying to burn knopix to a CD but since i'm new to mac's I am not sure how to go about this on a mac.

Jun 9, 2012I used to be able to burn an iso image from the context menu by clicking on 'Burn "*" to Disc...', inserting a disc and let it burn. Now when I try to burn an iso image by using the context menu a box pops up saying 'Are you sure you want to burn the contents of "Untitled Disc" to a disc'. If I click yes, it burns the iso image as a file onto the disc.

MacBook Pro :: Image Burn In Top Right Corner Of LCD
Feb 17, 20102.2GHz 15 inch mid 2007 Macbook Pro. I seem to have some image burn in the top right corner of my LCD. It looks like a blurry Spotlight icon, the "PM" from my clock, and so on for about 2 inches. It's not that bad, I can only notice it when there is a bright solid colour in the top corner of my screen (when the menu bar isn't visible.) Anybody experienced this before?
My laptop is on a fair bit, but my screen saver is set to go on after 15 minutes. There have been a few times when I have run my laptop overnight without allowing it to go to the screensaver or sleep, and I've simply turned off the backlight until the following morning. Could this have been a cause? I wouldn't have expected it from a modern LCD which is generally treated very well.

Feb 21, 2009I'm currently trying to burn a bootable image file using OS X 10.3.9's Disk Utility software. I have an external DVD Burner connected to a G4 Cube via Firewire. The issue is that when I select "burn" from the menu and point to the respective .dmg file, Disk Utility does not recognise the attached DVD burner. The burner is however recognised in Toast (which I also have installed).What might the issue be? I have searched high and low on the net in an attempt to diagnose the issue to no avail. Is there an alternative solution to burning bootable disks in 10.3.9?

Mar 31, 2010Okay, well I bought this display off of craigslist and when I have a webpage up for 10 seconds or more and minimize the screen, I can see like a faded ghost image of the screen for about a minute or so I guess, maybe a little longer.
Does anyone know how I can resolve this with having to change the LCD screen?

Jul 18, 2008I recently put up an e-commerce site and as part of entering products I can input images in 3 sizes.
1. 100 x 80 which is used for photos put on the main page of the website to be clicked on for further information
2. 200 x 250 to be used for the image in the actual product description
3. 300 x 400 to be used as a larger photo as a pop-up picture if someone wants to see a larger picture.
The pictures can vary in size but unless the variation is small the pictures will all very in size on the main page of my website which will give it a bad appearance.
Unfortunately when I get stock photos many vary in size. I want to know if there's an easy way to resize pictures. The only concerns I have is that making them larger may make them appear stretched or making them smaller may give the opposite appearance. Also, since I am doing this to many pictures I want a solution that is quick and easy, maybe as simple as taking a picture, choosing a new size, and saving it with the change.
I currently have the Adobe Creative Suite 3 with PhotoShop, Illustrator, and Fireworks but am not sure if this does it in an easy way and of course I prefer to use Mac over Windows

Jan 13, 2011I'm trying to burn some DVDs. I first burned in Finder and found out the hard way that that makes terrible quality data disc DVDs. Then I tried on iDVD, and at first it said it would only take 3 hours to burn a 1 1/2 hour movie on Professional Quality, so I was happy. But as it was encoding, it jumped to 16+ hours! So I tried again with only high quality, and it still said 8 hours, and now after 10 hours is still encoding. So, I need something else that's faster. I also need something relatively easy to learn/use. It may sound like I know what I'm talking about kind of, but I really don't and I just barely figured iDVD out. I still want it to convert into DVD quality discs (and good quality - I just got a new HDTV and would even like to try burning HD or Blu-ray discs). And I need it to be free.
So, my needs are:
#1 - FAST
#2 - FREE
#3 - GOOD QUALITY CONVERSIONS
#4 - EASY TO LEARN/USE

Sep 17, 2010It is supposed to be the best burning package on mac. But I doubt it. I convert videos to dvd-video format using the absolutely brilliant windows7 application convertxtodvd. Please dont tell me to use a mac application instead of it. I tried it many times, there were always several problems(slow speed, subs etc). This is not the case here.
So, I want these dvd-videos in Video_ts format, to be burned in dvd disks using toast. It is supposed that video_ts folder are a standard folder, no matter the system you use. But toast has a different opinion. When I drag the folder in the dvd-video window, it asks to re-encode the video!!!If I try to burn this video_ts folder in windows machine using 'nero', no problem at all, straight burning! I really cannot understand why this happens.
Another problem I have is that the files I want toast to burn, usually reside to network computer. Is there any way to burn files from a network computer(win) using toast? Can toast access network or not? If not, I have to manually copy files to local disk, several minutes spent for copying gigabytes just to be able to burn them.
Safari :: Drag An Image From A Page In It To The Finder And Have It Be Saved As An Actual Image Instead Of A Webloc?
Apr 16, 2012Safari used to let me drag an image from a webpage to the finder and have the dragged file be saved as an actual image but now all that's saved is a webloc file. I want the image saved, not a reference to the image's URL - do I now have to always use "save as" to save it?
I can understand Safari creating a webloc file if I dragged the site icon from the location bar to the finder, but to make the default behavior for dragging things that are parts of a page (not the page itself) as webloc files seems like a HUGE step backwards for usability.
Does anyone know if there's, say, a key to hold when dragging to avoid saving a webloc file or a defaults command or something to make Safari revert back to sane draging behavior?

May 25, 2012When a user copies an image from a browser into PowerPoint 2011 he gets text of a link back to the image, not the image itself. But if he copies from a browser into Word he gets the image, and can then copy the image from Word to PowerPoint. Same results with both Firefox and Safari. Behavior is new so I assume it relates to recent software updates but user does not recall accepting any.

Sep 16, 2008My new DVD burner will play CDs and DVDs and burn CDs, but will not burn DVDs through the finder. Will getting TOAST definitely enable me to burn DVDs? I don't really need it otherwise and I would rather not buy it unless it will definitely enable me to burn DVDs.

I've been trying to burn on to dual layer disk i.e 8.5 GB.Video_TS foldeer is 7 GBIf I chose the DATA TAB tell Burn to create a "DVD-video disk" I get a disk that my computer can play in the DVD App that functions like a DVD, BUT my stand alone DVD player won't recognise it. (tells me its a DATA disk).

Jun 4, 2008Have a free to distribute educational DVD (preparation for a test) that I need to make a copy of for a friend. Downloaded MacTheRipper and copy the DVD. Next I downloaded a freeware program called Burn that looks simple and is all I need. However I when I try to burn I get an error "Failed: There was a problem authoring the DVD" Also I tried to use the burn to a data DVD mode and it wrote the data to the DVD (you can physically see it's there) but when it got to finalize I got the same error message and you can't read the DVD contents. I have a new Mac Pro running 10.5.3 and the DVD drive is OEM PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-112D.

Dec 25, 2009I used Handbrake to rip encode the dvd to mp4. Now I want to burn it to a DVD for a cheap backup.

I keep getting an error saying the data I'm trying to burn is over 4 gb's and too big for my blank disc. How's that possible?
Shouldn't I be able to burn the mp4 to a dvd easily in iDVD?

Jun 8, 2012New to iMac, just trying to do something I could do on the PC without any trouble. Can't seem to get the burn folder to burn to a new CD-R. Can't seem to get the iMac to recogmize that there is a CD in the drive.
Have tried more than one CD. It does eject, but stalled out on the transfer.
I miss my PC. this has taken an hour for something that should be--well--easy.

Windows On Mac :: Program Not Running On Bootcamp - This Program Cannot Run On A Computer With Less Than 64 Megabytes Of Ram
Aug 24, 2009I have a 15-inch MacBook Pro, the new unibody ones, and I installed Windows XP, using BootCamp.
I made it a 29 or so GB partition, so it used the FAT32 formatting.
The program I tried to install is the eyeQ speed reading program, and the laptop exceeds every single one of the recommended requirements.
The problem comes when I am attempting to install the program, I keep getting an error message in which it says "This program cannot run on a computer with less than 64 megabytes of ram."
Last time I checked my laptop has 4 GB of ram, and it says the same thing when I checked it while running Windows XP.
My only guess, which I made while typing this, was that I should have formatted the Windows partition using NTSF.
