XLD provides precisely the right track information in English, but I can't figure out how to transfer the data from XLD into the iTunes library all at once. Or do I have to use Get Info and copy the track names one at a time?

For many years I have been using Turbo Tax for Windows, and it has been adequate for my needs. When I switched to the Mac I bought a copy of Quicken/Mac to replace my copy of Quicken/Windows. What a disappointment ! The Mac version seems to be about 3 years behind the Windows version.
Having said all that; I am considering Turbo Tax for the Mac with some reservations, based on my Quicken experience. I can afford to be annoyed with the outdated Quicken/Mac, but I cannot use a tax program that might be equally outdated.
I have an unsecured wifi network at home and need to easily share photos between computers. I have an iMac and a couple window based computer.Is ther an easy way instead of using a thumb drive?

I just bought a brand new iMac. I have a huge music/video/app library from my PC on my iPhone 3GS all of which songs are from iTunes, but I can not figure out how to import all of them to the new mac.
Any trusted programs? I'm worried if I sync the iPhone 3GS with the iMac, all of my data will be erased.
I have saved the MS User Data from Office X prior to whiping my HD clean for a rebuild ... A new install of Office X creates a new MS User Data folder automatically when opened. When I choose the import option in Entourage X there is no listing for the current version and when I select another version, Entourage 2004, for example, only the new "Main Identity" shows with today's date. I can hit "browse" so it will "see" the original "Main Identity" and select it but after clicking OK, only the new "Main Identity" shows with today's date is shown and defeats the import.
I have also tried Office 2008 > File > Import >"Entourage information from an archive or earlier version "> and tried either option Entourage 2004 or Entourge X and have the same experience: only the new identity shows with the new installs' date. I currently have all my iPhoto folders stored on a external harddrive (removed from iPhoto) and would like to put them in iCloud. The unfortunate thing is that i have an Macbook Air, and not enough memory to put all the folders back in iPhoto to have them uploaded to iCloud.

i just got parallels and i'm trying to install turbotax business(b/c no mac version).
when i click on the installer the little active circle comes up for a couple seconds and then nothing happens. it won't open the installer.
I need to file an amended tax return for 2010 but when I start the disk I get the "not supported' message. I'm running 10.5.8 which I probably installed after I did the original 2010 taxes.

I got roughly halfway through importing my collection of about 800 CD's into iTunes 12, before realising that the default import settings applied by iTunes is not 'the best'. In fact it's not set anywhere near 'the best', it's something like 128kbps lossy format. I wanted to import my CD's in lossless CD-quality. WAV would have been ideal. However it would appear I've missed a trick by assuming it would be full-quality unless I specified something else.
I'm not using portable devices to listen to my music, I have a Mac Mini and an endless supply of hard-drive storage space, and I'm only accessing it at home.
A large number of my discs are classical and jazz, and in many cases I've needed to amend or reorganise the metadata, so that it all complies with an overall filing and categorising system that makes sense and is useful. I also have a large number of rock and blues CD's, but their metadata is normally correct when the discs are issued, so they usually doesn't need adjusting. If you're wondering, yes my taste in music is eclectic. I'm just as big a fan of Mozart as I am of Motorhead as I am of Mo Foster. The problem is that with classical and opera it's important that the 'artist' category shows the names of the performer/soloist/conductor/orchestra, not the name of the composer! (I wish I *did* have actual recordings of JS Bach playing the Well Tempered Clavier!!).
So I'm looking at this big pile of CD's thinking, "is it worth re-importing them all again at CD-quality?", because I'd really like top-quality copies, and I only really want to have to do this once. It *is* worth doing so long as I don't have to do all the jiggery-pokery with all the artist/composer data again, because that takes an enormous amount of time.
So the question is... will iTunes 12 let me re-import my discs at maximum quality, but at the same time let me keep the data that was painstakingly edited and stored with the previous (lesser-quality) versions? Or is there a workaround? Maybe I could surreptitiously replace the old audio with new audio when iTunes isn't running and hope that it won't notice?

I am planning on using bootcamp to do a partition with windows xp.
I am only really planning on using my windows side for games such as Guild Wars or Runes of Magic.
I am not really sure how many games ill have on this side. As of now i am only planning on installing one game.
So, how many GB should i put to my windows side?

The only copy of windows XP i have is pre SP2. I tried to install this last night via boot camp, but after spending hours installing and loading the drivers from the mac disc, not all were installed. Then I was hardwired to my router to run windows update to get SP2/SP3 I could not for the life of me get the 3 drivers to install.
Ethernet controller, although the ethernet port worked. Bluetooth driver, cannot find the driver on the Mac disc VGA driver, cannot find the driver on the Mac disc
I also don't seem to have a wireless connection or even an option to use my wifi card on my macbook with windows.

Yesterday I had no problem using IE within Parallels. Now, I can't access the Net no matter what I do. IE isn't working, I can't sync Outlook and some other programs are giving me Time Out errors because they can't connect. To correct, I've tried changing from NAT to Bridge and Host, no dice. I've tried restarting the Windows OS. I've tried closing and reopening the VM. I've tried turning off an on the Airport connection within MacOS. As a side note, I have no problems accessing the web on the Mac side.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently bought an iMac, and have just successfully installed the trial version of Parallels5. I have my Windows XP product key from the Dell PC on which WinXP was installed circa 5-6 years ago. It seems to work fine, as the little Windows XP Virtual Machine box shows up all right. No mention of the key being invalid or out of date. However, when I try to activate WinXP I continually get the message that no operating system has been installed. Even though I went through the steps in the instruction document, both by inserting the XP Service Pack 3 DVD or trying the networking option.
Several attempts to get XP running have failed. Wondering whether I should uninstall P5 (and whatever WinXP data might be lurking) and reinstall everything (including another attempt at WinXP), or is it a bitter fact that I'd need a new copy of WinXP in order to work with Parallels5 on my iMac? (I mainly want to be able to work with Band-in-a-Box, which I bought last year for use on my PC.)

I was wondering if there was anyway to download it onto a macbook (only other working computer in the house), and save it onto a Cd Rom to then use to start up the PC?
i installed my winxp license in bootcamp then i valited. but whenever i open it in vm ware then i have to validate again because it says hardware have been changed, then if i want to boot into bootcamp to play some game like burnout paradise it says i have to validate again, so here i am, installed a cracked windows xp so i doesn't have to valited. still not doing anything ilegal since i have a legal license. is there any solution for using the license key avoiding that little problem?

Mac can see the printer on the Windows Network, but the HP driver install disk does not. I can't seem to locate the P1006 on the Mac hard disk, and it does not show up on the driver list in printer setup.

I'm concerned about not corrupting data from the drives and wonder if there is a risk of OSX writing to them. Do I need to mount the drive manually from the terminal command line to insure they mount as read-only or is it safe just to browse the drive?
I guess I need to learn about imaging alternative OS drives now that I am using a Mac all the time. I've seen the "dd" format laid out elsewhere and never bothered to read up on how it is used. I would guess this will create an image, similiar to an ISO on my Mac desktop.
So I backed up my Opera Bookmarks rigorously in case the Mac died. Well it died. And since I'm using a WinXP machine for the time being I'd like to bring those bookmarks over to the PC. The problem is they are in a .hqx format and I don't know how to extrat it. I tried WinRAR and 7zip without success. Of course I realize now I should have saved them as a HTML file... Then I think I could have brought them over with no issues. Please confirm if possible. And if you have any ideas (both my Macs are dead for the time being) on the bookmark thing, please let me know. All the other files are ok - text files have some glitches but most are fine. The ones with glitches have to be resaved in RTF format. If course the least important (.avi) play perfectly!
View 6 Replies View RelatedBackground: On several occasions, now, I've installed and reinstalled (completely cleaned off) Safari on my (1) Toshiba A505-S6017 (laptop - 8GB RAM) -- running Windows 7-64 and (2) on my Gateway desktop (7GB paging file) -- running Windows XP I've rebooted after every reinstall. From what I hear, it's a wonderful addition to my browser suite -- all my other browsers continue to work fine: Chrome, Firefox, Opera.
A. PROBLEM: Each time I try to use this reputable program (version 5.2 (7534.52.7), I encountered the following problem: Program (1) loads instantly, (2) presents the browser space, (3) agrees to open new tabs, (4) but when I try to direct it to ANY URL at all, the hour-glass appears, but the wait is fruitness. I cannot reach any site at all. I've tried to access the program, both as "administrator" and regular "user." No joy. All I ever get showing is the interesting interface (and an hour-glass on an URL-call) and nothing else.
B. ALSO: I have also noticed something I'm not sure is normal or not: ln my file-directory, I only see the program icon for Safari, but NO file directory or ancillary files -- is this normal?
Does anyone have any help to offer an intensely motivated future user? P.S. If I eventually get through this problem on my own, I'll return here and tell what I did -- but I'm starting to doubt my abilities .

i got a problem..
when i was installing xp with bootcamp the computer restarted (after i chose my paition and copy some files) then i eject the disc, however it cannot boot from the partially installed disk.. it said disk error, please press any key to restart
I recently upgraded my Macbook Pro (2008 with gray keypad) which had snow leopard and was running winxp with bootcamp to mavericks and now when I try to start my winxp it begins to start but then I get the "do you want to start in safe mode" screen and when I ask to start in any of the modes winxp will begin to start with the WinXp logo showing and the blue bar moving across the the screen and then there is brief (microseconds) flash of the "Blue screen" after which the computer restarts. What can I do to get my WinXp working again?

My Macbook runs with Mavericks and I can't access to a folder which is shared on a external HD plugged to a PC with windows XP. That was possible with my old Macbook with 10.5.
For the shared folders which are in the internal HD of the PC, no problem.
I precise that I would like accessing with the "Shared" menu in Finder sidebar. If I use "Connect to Server", I'm able to see in the folder, but not to open the "children folders", excepted if I reuse "Connect to Server", by complementing the path, etc
