Software :: Importing OSX Opera Bookmarks To WinXP?

Feb 16, 2009

So I backed up my Opera Bookmarks rigorously in case the Mac died. Well it died. And since I'm using a WinXP machine for the time being I'd like to bring those bookmarks over to the PC. The problem is they are in a .hqx format and I don't know how to extrat it. I tried WinRAR and 7zip without success. Of course I realize now I should have saved them as a HTML file... Then I think I could have brought them over with no issues. Please confirm if possible. And if you have any ideas (both my Macs are dead for the time being) on the bookmark thing, please let me know. All the other files are ok - text files have some glitches but most are fine. The ones with glitches have to be resaved in RTF format. If course the least important (.avi) play perfectly!

OS X :: How To Import Opera Bookmarks To Firefox

Mar 29, 2009

I use both Opera and Firefox. I recently had problems with Opera and switched to Firefox for a while - got to like it.

1) Is Firefox any safer than Opera? It is at least as fast plus it has some very nice features.

2) Is there a way to bring over all of my Opera bookmarks into Firefox?

OS X :: How Does Mac Have Opera

Dec 26, 2008

This is really odd. Occasionally when I open a torrent file, instead of Transmission (default) opening, Opera opens the torrent. How can that be? I don't have Opera. I've never installed Opera. I never thought about installing Opera. The crazy thing about it is it works (it loads up websites) but when I search for it in AppCleaner and in Spotlight, it's nowhere to be found. How is that possible? How can a program that I never installed be working on my computer?

Applications :: Screen Isn't Wide Enough For All Of Bookmarks To Show Up In The Bookmarks Bar

Jan 8, 2011

After using Firefox and many others on the Mac, it's now my default browser. It's the only browser that's in the dock, actually. But I have a complaint about it.On a MacBook, the screen isn't wide enough for all of my bookmarks to show up in the bookmarks bar. The "bookmarks" menu in the bookmarks bar is hiding the last bookmark I have. How do I get rid of that? The top menu already has a bookmarks pull down menu.

ITunes :: Merged Albums - Gapless Playback For Opera CDs

May 26, 2012

I have several multi-CD opera albums loaded into iTunes for Mac. I've merged them (same album name, marked as part of a compilation, though I've kept the individual CD #s and track #s) so that each opera shows as one album in iTunes. I've also set gapless playback. This works fine for tracks within each of the opera's discs (i.e. no gap between track 2, 3, 4 etc.)

I'm still hearing gaps when iTunes moves from one CD to the next (i.e. between the last track on CD 1 and the first track on CD 2). The gap is about 5 seconds and seems to occur whichever opera/ set of CDs I playback. Is there a way to eliminate this? I don't think this gap is native to the CDs themselves as it occurs across tracks that are part of the same act/scene. I'm using the latest version of iTunes and this refers to playback on my Mac.

Windows On Mac :: WinXP OS Not Installing With Parallels5

Jul 16, 2010

I recently bought an iMac, and have just successfully installed the trial version of Parallels5. I have my Windows XP product key from the Dell PC on which WinXP was installed circa 5-6 years ago. It seems to work fine, as the little Windows XP Virtual Machine box shows up all right. No mention of the key being invalid or out of date. However, when I try to activate WinXP I continually get the message that no operating system has been installed. Even though I went through the steps in the instruction document, both by inserting the XP Service Pack 3 DVD or trying the networking option.

Several attempts to get XP running have failed. Wondering whether I should uninstall P5 (and whatever WinXP data might be lurking) and reinstall everything (including another attempt at WinXP), or is it a bitter fact that I'd need a new copy of WinXP in order to work with Parallels5 on my iMac? (I mainly want to be able to work with Band-in-a-Box, which I bought last year for use on my PC.)
