I need to file an amended tax return for 2010 but when I start the disk I get the "not supported' message. I'm running 10.5.8 which I probably installed after I did the original 2010 taxes.

Ive recently purchased Photoshop CS4 and I am having trouble making it work on my macbook. I believe I have met all of the requirements, and I have uninstalled it multiple times using the uninstaller. I need some new ideas on what could be going wrong.

For many years I have been using Turbo Tax for Windows, and it has been adequate for my needs. When I switched to the Mac I bought a copy of Quicken/Mac to replace my copy of Quicken/Windows. What a disappointment ! The Mac version seems to be about 3 years behind the Windows version.
Having said all that; I am considering Turbo Tax for the Mac with some reservations, based on my Quicken experience. I can afford to be annoyed with the outdated Quicken/Mac, but I cannot use a tax program that might be equally outdated.
i just got parallels and i'm trying to install turbotax business(b/c no mac version).
when i click on the installer the little active circle comes up for a couple seconds and then nothing happens. it won't open the installer.
I am planning to switch from Dell/Windows XP to a new Apple MacBook in a few weeks. Will I be able to import my last years tax file from the Windows version of Turbo Tax to the Mac version of this year's Turbo Tax?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe computer I use at work is 2.5 years old and there is no more support?I work on a web based system 90% of my daily work and it works with Java Applets. In Safari I have a buggy Java Applet which doesn't show and work as it should.In Firefox since the Java version gets blocked, the browser completely crashes after allowing FF to use the Java Plugin anyway.In Chrome I cannot start the Applet even when I allow Chrome to do this. I can not update to the latest system as I don't have the App Store to update to 10.7 How is it possible that 10.5 is no more supported?

View 10 Replies View RelatedHey all. I have an odd question for you guys. My friend's PowerBook G4 crashed hard yesterday and she had to reinstall OS X (she lost all her stuff). She has 10.3, but she is having a hard time finding apps that will run under it. I did some research for her and found that her system should be able to run 10.5, which would make life a lot easier for her as just about all apps run under 10.5. The one problem with this is I am not sure if her system can handle it.
Here are the specs she gave me:
PowerBook G4
1GHz
512MB RAM
Does anyone know if this is enough to run Leopard well?? ATM she just need something that will get online, download torrents, and play DVDs. She is a musician and she has composition software that ran under 10.3. Not sure if it will run under 10.4, but ATM she just wants the system back to "useable" condition.If she can't run 10.5, she should be able to upgrade to 10.4 right? She will have more trouble finding apps that are compatible, but at least it will run better then 10.3 does.

I am having problems with a partition that I use as my Time Machine backup. I have searched various previous discussions but can't seem to find a solution. My HDD is split into 2 partitions and the Time Machine one doesn't mount, the other works fine. When I try to mount it using Disk Utility I get the error message: "The disk X could not be mounted. Try running First Aid on the disk and retry mounting".  Then without doing anything else I get another message "Mac OS X can't repair the disk X. You can still open or copy files on the disk, but you can't save changes to files on the disk. Back up the disk and reformat it as soon as you can." Which disappeared after a few seconds and the partition mounted. When I try to repair the disk I get the above error message and another: "Disk Utility stopped repairing X. Disk Utility can't repair this disk. Back up as many files as possible, reformat the disk, and restore your backed up files." This appears after it says 'Updating boot support partitions…'. When mounted, I can open it in Finder, but when I try to copy 'Backups.backupdb' I get a message saying "The operation can't be completed because it isn't supported." This is the same for 'X's Computer' and each backup folder. I can copy files and folders in each backup folder but this would be very tedious and probably Time Machine wouldn't be able to use the resulting files. I have tried restoring the partition, through Disk Utility, to another HDD, but it just copies across the error. Disk Utility has been rather buggy as well, hanging on various operations involving the partition.

As I understand it, it will boot into the 32-bit kernel by default, but if your hardware is supported, you can select the 64-bit kernel.
My question is - where is the list of supported hardware, and how do you select the 64-bit kernel?
My confusion comes from several posts and various articles which all say the first-gen aluminium iMac has a 32-bit EFI, and therefore can only boot into the 32-bit kernel. But I've just downloaded an app called Startup Mode Selector, which shows you your system config, and it says I have a 64-bit EFI.
Im thinking about buying a 13" mba to be my computer everywhere i go, but I have some doubts about it's performance because there are a lot of different opinions around the web.
It will not be my primary machine, since I have a sony vaio F (heaavyy for carryng around!) and a powerful desktop for gaming and rendering, but i will ocasionally need to do some work on adobe cs5, autocad, and google sketchup light work on the mba. The weird thing is that I opened up Terminal on one and had look at mach_kernel in the / directory, expecting to see two kernel architectures, x86_64 and i386. Lo and behold, there was a third one; architecture ppc.

I run a small architecture firm and I'm in need of a database program to track projects, clients, and employees.
I'd like the ability to create project reports that illustrate how much time and money is spent on all aspects of a project (predesign, site analysis, schematic, etc.), reimbursables, direct expenses, etc.
I'd also like to break that down further to what individual employees have worked on. On individual projects as well as all projects worked on.
Is this something that can be done in Bento or is Filemaker needed? Some have recommended Access but I would prefer to stay on the Mac side for this information.
