OS X Mavericks :: WinXP Pro Bootcamp Partition Visible But Unbootable

Sep 6, 2014

I recently upgraded my Macbook Pro (2008 with gray keypad) which had snow leopard  and was running winxp with bootcamp to mavericks and now when I try to start my winxp it begins to start but then I get the "do you want to start in safe mode" screen and when I ask to start in any of the modes winxp will begin to start with the WinXp logo showing and the blue bar moving across the the screen and then there is brief (microseconds) flash of the "Blue screen" after which the computer restarts.   What can I do to get my WinXp working again?

OS X Mavericks :: Extra Data Partition For Windows In BootCamp Is Not Visible

Dec 6, 2014

I created a new Boot Camp partition with Windows 7 Ultimate on my MacBook Pro (i7, 2.8 Ghz, 750 GB HD) running Mavericks 10.9.5. The 2 disks were about 70 GB (Mac side) and 680 GB (Windows side). I wanted to create an extra, data partition and created it after having installed Windows. I used IPartition to do this and resized the Windows partition to about 90 GB and created an empty partition and formatted it with IPartition as Microsoft NTFS.

Now, when I boot into Windows I cannot see the empty data partition: but it's visible and mounted when I boot into Mac side.

I tried to to create new volume on empty space with Windows Disk management but got this warning and canceled that operation fearing that that would mess up the booting into Mac or Windows or both: How can I get that empty partition visible in Windows?

OS X Mavericks :: BOOTCAMP Partition Not Visible In Finder - Not Mountable In Disk Utility

Sep 3, 2014

Did a fresh Bootcamp install of Windows 7 on my MBA running 10.9.4, switched back and forth a few times and now the BOOTCAMP partition doesn't show up in the left pane in Finder. I hopped into Disk Utility to see what was going on and it was there, just not mounted, so I clicked mount, was told it couldn't be mounted, and it suggested I run first aid on it. I clicked Verify, nothing useful to me, then Repair, and got quite a lot of feedback that I do not understand, and then after that it was still unmountable.

I tried to copy everything it said into a pastebin because it was very long with lots of starting and stopping and counting percents inbetween, but it was over 500kb and that's the limit for free users on pastebin, so here's a trimmed version. [URL] .... I tried booting into Windows after that, and it jumped into System Repair. Apparently, according to Windows, my Boot Manager is missing or corrupt... and since I still can't access it from the Mac side of things, I thought I'd just wipe the partition in BootCamp Utility and start over.

Except instead, I get this error: "Your disk could not be restored to a single partition. An error occurred while restoring the disk to a single partition."

Disk Utility let me wipe it but I still can't mount it, either, again suggesting I run first aid on it (this does nothing). I can't boot into the Mac's Recovery mode either. It just jumps straight to Internet Recovery. When I hold option upon boot, all three partitions show up (Mac, Recovery, Windows), but when I click the recovery one it loads for a bit and then the laptop just instantly shuts off.... Have I corrupted my internal harddrive perchance?

Windows On Mac :: Win7 Partition Not Visible In BootCamp

May 21, 2009

I installed Win 7 in bootcamp and everything was working fine. Then I started to play around with rEFIt to install Linux as a 3rd OS. I managed to install everything but since the driver support in Linux was poor, I decided to wipe out Linux + rEFIt and return to the initial setup (OSX + Win7 in bootcamp). I deleted the Linux partition and rEFIt but now, my MBP starts and I hold the option key, I can't see the Windows drive anymore. The (NTFS) partition is still there and I can access all the files from OSX but I can't boot it.

Windows On Mac :: Installing WinXP Pre SP2 Via Bootcamp?

Oct 18, 2010

Is this possible?

The only copy of windows XP i have is pre SP2. I tried to install this last night via boot camp, but after spending hours installing and loading the drivers from the mac disc, not all were installed. Then I was hardwired to my router to run windows update to get SP2/SP3 I could not for the life of me get the 3 drivers to install.

Ethernet controller, although the ethernet port worked. Bluetooth driver, cannot find the driver on the Mac disc VGA driver, cannot find the driver on the Mac disc

I also don't seem to have a wireless connection or even an option to use my wifi card on my macbook with windows.

The macbook is a 2010 unibody, white.

How can I increase the Partition size between windows and mac without having to delete or re-install windows?

OS X Mavericks :: Can't Access Shared Folder On External HD Plugged To WinXP PC

Jun 26, 2014

My Macbook runs with Mavericks and I can't access to a folder which is shared on a external HD plugged to a PC with windows XP. That was possible with my old Macbook with 10.5.

For the shared folders which are in the internal HD of the PC, no problem.

I precise that I would like accessing with the "Shared" menu in Finder sidebar. If I use "Connect to Server", I'm able to see in the folder, but not to open the "children folders", excepted if I reuse "Connect to Server", by complementing the path, etc

Windows On Mac :: FAT32 Partition Not Visible On Triple-Boot System?

Nov 1, 2009

I set up a triple-boot system on my MBP (Early 2008) with OS X SL, ubuntu 9.10 and Windows 7 Home Premium. I have a 500GB Hard Drive, and allocated 100 GB for Mac OS X, 60 GB for Windows 7, 40 GB for ubuntu, and the remainder I formatted as FAT32 for storage to share between the three operating systems (to hold iTunes and iPhoto libraries, movies, etc).

I use rEFIt as my bootloader, and all three operating systems happily load whenever I choose them to. The problem lies with the FAT32 storage partition. OS X recognizes it quite nicely and I use it regularly. Windows and ubuntu, however, do not mount it. What's more, Windows Disk Manager identifies the space as unallocated space.

OS X :: Windows Working With Option Key But Not Visible In Bootcamp

May 5, 2009

I cannot "see" my Windows partition from the preferences pane in bootcamp (osx) (where I would go to set Windows as a boot partition). The only way I can make Windows to start is by using the Option key at boot.

Strange this is, the partition is visible on my Osx desktop (mounted), I can browse the files etc... but Bootcamp somehow thinks it's gone.

Windows On Mac :: External Hard Drive Not Visible In BootCamp Vista

Mar 23, 2009

I have a new imac (love it!) and have installed vista on a 32Gb partition using Boot Camp. I was planning on saving files I create in vista on the external Hard drive. But I can't see it when I'm in Vista so can not save files to it. It is a terrabyte disk and is used by Time machine. Is there anyway I can save to it or should I add another external HD just for windows, I can see it when I go to system hard ware (it says seagate HD etc but there is no info on files sizes etc-there is a button which says populate but I dare not press it as I'm scared it will screw up my back ups) Another irritation is that when I reboot back to mac it throws out the internet and I have to reset the modem and router so it works again.

Windows On Mac :: Won't Work With Additional Partition / Enlarging BootCamp Partition

Aug 31, 2010

So my iMac came with a 1TB hard drive and I installed Windows 7 x64 but only gave it some 93GB. I have a two-prong question:

Can I add a third partition to my drive after I partition for BootCamp? My main partition ("Macintosh HD" by default) is over 900GB large and I'd really like to cut that up into 2x450GB, for example, in addition to the 93GB BootCamp partition.

Second, once partitioned, is it possible to resize the BootCamp partition to make it bigger after it has been set up?

Windows On Mac :: BootCamp Partition - Vista NOT Installed - Partition Gone

Aug 5, 2009

I have a 13" MBP with a 250 gb hd, I partitioned the HD 25gb for Windows XP shortly after I bought it. I was unable to install my copy of windows, contacted apple after exhaustive search as to why... Long story short, I now have Vista to install... When I went back to Boot Camp Assistant; partition was gone. Researched... ran disk utility, repaired and erased partition. Bootcamp HD now shows up in desktop, still not in bootcamp assistant. Since I am unable to locate in assistant; would there be any problems with just installing Vista off the install disk by restarting? Any ideas what to do if this is not a good idea (short of restoring)?

Question: My Blackbook also has a Bootcamp partition running Windows - is there a way to take that image and migrate it to my MB Air? I'd rather not have to purchase the Superdrive and re-install/setup the Windows OS on my Air....

I've tried anything as low as resizing it to 10gb to 100gb... both fails.I have more than 200gb free space.I have just run a full defrag with iDefrag I've tried to do fileoptimization with techtool pro v5
I tried using camptune (which only works if you already have a working bootcamp partition, which I dont.

I have 120GB unused HDD space atm so could i.. back up my 80GB partition to a DMG with disk utility then delete the old partition making the whole 200GB unallocated space... then use the bootcamp utility to re occupy the space then use disk utilities restore option to restore the image of the 80GB to the new 200GB partition... would this work? if not has anyone got any other methods to use with 10.6.4 SL and Win7?

Does anyone know if this is because the OEM version of the OS or something else. I tried to reduce the size of the partition because I read a thread about FAT32 not playing well with disc sizes greater than 32Gb. Still didn't work...

Windows On Mac :: BootCamp Fails To Make BootCamp Partition

Jan 23, 2009

I want to try out Windows 7. During this process though I deleted my winXP partition. When I went to create a new BootCamp partition in The BootCamp SetUp Assisstant, it failed to create the partition on my harddrive.

I was greeted with the error, "BootCamp SetUp assistant failed to yada yada yada, please backup and reformat your harddrive."

So my question is do I really have to reinstall Mac OS X? (I backup with TimeMachine so it won't be a big deal but still thats a very long process.) Do you guys have any tips or anything to get Mac OS X to partition my main HDD?

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Reload To Internal Drive / Unbootable

Mar 30, 2012

Made a few missteps while cloning my drive to an external destination.I need to get my internal drive reloaded. Preferrably with a clone BACK. I keep getting kernel panics & cannot boot from what I have managed to clone back.cloned my drive (formatted SL X.6.8) to an external USB (yes, its a tad slow) in order to test drive my applications on Lion. This was done using Intego's Personal Backup. The backup wound up being unjournaled.Made a stupid mistake allowing the internal drive to be optimized by TechTool (it was journaled).I assume this could be the first cause of my problem.Since that internal partition would not boot any longer & the icon would not show, I used Disk Utility to repair the volume. The volume is a partition on my internal drive. The second partition is formatted for Windows. that's intact. After repairing, the icon is back.Apparently you can only back up Time Machine back to the original drive FROM the original drive (?). AlthoughI am not very recent in Time Machine backups, having turned it off a few weeks ago anyway.I then tried to clone BACK to the internal using CCC. It seems to have put the folders back.On start up I have the options of External clone (not the actual name), Windows partition, or "EFI" which may not be theinternal, rather a TechTool Boot of some sort.I'm going to try & retrace the same step - of clearing that internal partition & try to load a clone from the external clone one more time,to see if it becomes bootable.
