ITunes :: How To Import Data From Xld
May 14, 2012
I imported a classical music album but the track names are in Japanese. XLD provides precisely the right track information in English, but I can't figure out how to transfer the data from XLD into the iTunes library all at once. Or do I have to use Get Info and copy the track names one at a time?

I just bought a brand new iMac. I have a huge music/video/app library from my PC on my iPhone 3GS all of which songs are from iTunes, but I can not figure out how to import all of them to the new mac.
Any trusted programs? I'm worried if I sync the iPhone 3GS with the iMac, all of my data will be erased.

I got roughly halfway through importing my collection of about 800 CD's into iTunes 12, before realising that the default import settings applied by iTunes is not 'the best'. In fact it's not set anywhere near 'the best', it's something like 128kbps lossy format.  I wanted to import my CD's in lossless CD-quality. WAV would have been ideal. However it would appear I've missed a trick by assuming it would be full-quality unless I specified something else.Â
I'm not using portable devices to listen to my music, I have a Mac Mini and an endless supply of hard-drive storage space, and I'm only accessing it at home.Â
A large number of my discs are classical and jazz, and in many cases I've needed to amend or reorganise the metadata, so that it all complies with an overall filing and categorising system that makes sense and is useful.  I also have a large number of rock and blues CD's, but their metadata is normally correct when the discs are issued, so they usually doesn't need adjusting.  If you're wondering, yes my taste in music is eclectic.  I'm just as big a fan of Mozart as I am of Motorhead as I am of Mo Foster.  The problem is that with classical and opera it's important that the 'artist' category shows the names of the performer/soloist/conductor/orchestra, not the name of the composer! (I wish I *did* have actual recordings of JS Bach playing the Well Tempered Clavier!!).Â
So I'm looking at this big pile of CD's thinking, "is it worth re-importing them all again at CD-quality?", because I'd really like top-quality copies, and I only really want to have to do this once.  It *is* worth doing so long as I don't have to do all the jiggery-pokery with all the artist/composer data again, because that takes an enormous amount of time.Â
So the question is... will iTunes 12 let me re-import my discs at maximum quality, but at the same time let me keep the data that was painstakingly edited and stored with the previous (lesser-quality) versions?  Or is there a workaround? Maybe I could surreptitiously replace the old audio with new audio when iTunes isn't running and hope that it won't notice?Â

I recently purchased an MP3 album from Amazon, which downloaded fine. Unlike previous times, however, the Amazon Downloader app didn't load the music into my iTunes library. I tried to manually add the album to my iTunes Library, with no luck. I was able to load the album into my iPhone Music app by dragging and dropping on my iPhone device in iTunes (after turning off iTunes Match).. If I double-click on the songs on my hard drive, they will play in iTunes, but do not import.Â
I am running Mac OS 10.7.3, iTunes 10.6.1 (7) and have iTunes Match active on my computer.

I have saved the MS User Data from Office X prior to whiping my HD clean for a rebuild ... A new install of Office X creates a new MS User Data folder automatically when opened. When I choose the import option in Entourage X there is no listing for the current version and when I select another version, Entourage 2004, for example, only the new "Main Identity" shows with today's date. I can hit "browse" so it will "see" the original "Main Identity" and select it but after clicking OK, only the new "Main Identity" shows with today's date is shown and defeats the import.
I have also tried Office 2008 > File > Import >"Entourage information from an archive or earlier version "> and tried either option Entourage 2004 or Entourge X and have the same experience: only the new identity shows with the new installs' date. I can hit "browse" so it will "see" the original and select it but after clicking OK, only the new identity shows with today's date is shown and defeats the import."

I often borrow audiobook CDs from the library and have no trouble importing them to iTunes. But many of them come as mp3 CDs, which has been causing me lots of headaches. First of all, iTunes doesn't recognize those kinds of CDs. I used to be able to get around this by simply using the File > Add to Library feature. But with iTunes 10.6, this no longer seems to work and I haven't found a simple way to upload the tracks to iTunes. When I Google this problem, I find lots of answers to copying mp3 tracks from iTunes onto CDs, but I want to do the opposite.

So does the ATV3. However, from times to times, I cannot import the m4v file into itunes. I have tried a bunch of technics but nothing has worked so far.

I have a some MP4 video files I got from a DVD which are "home" made. So no commercial DVD or anything like that.I used Adobe Premiere Pro to convert them in a Quicktime playable format and thought I could now import it to iTunes and sync it on my iPhone or iPad.On a Windows machine I was able to import the movie file but if I let iTunes convert it to the iPhone compatible format it fails. I get a new movie file with the sound but the movie shows only a white screen. On my Mac ( where I actually need it) I wasn't even able to import it into iTunes.
I konw there are many posts around about this matter but none so far could give me a hint to resolve that issue.Does anybody know the exact settings of an mp4 such that I can use it in iTunes on a Mac? I should be able to export it in any format with Adobe Premier Pro but sofar none of the files worked. Even *.mov files wont import into iTunes on my Mac.

Any type of audio track I attempt to import into 10.6.1 is not showing up. There's a similar thread here and it was determined that turning Match off then on fixes the issue, but I don't subscribe to Match so that doesn't work for me.
I've tried adding tracks to the main music library and to a playlist by dragging into iTunes, open with, double clicking on the track, and dragging the track onto the icon in the dock. Nothing. I've tried numerous different tracks, all of which play fine in Finder.

I have generated some AIFF files and would like to import them into iTunes as AAC files. If I try to import them into iTunes it will just import the AIFF files, not convert, I then would have to create AAC Version. Is there anyway to combine these two steps? I can eliminate creating an 'extra' file by changing pref when importing the AIFF file into my iTunes folder so it doesn't create a copy, then changing it back when creating the AAC file, but that seems like a lot of work, maybe even make it a script.

Ok, so I actually have multiple libraries (from itouch, nano, ipod) and I want to import the library from my old pc to work on my Mac.
However, I only want it to work from my external hard drive, I do not want it to take any space in my Mac's SSD .
The one thing that you have to know though is:Â
Although I have some, a lot of my mp3s are not in my itunes media folder. However, the music is in the library itself, the one in XML and ITL format.
So, I know that had all my music been in the media folder, I could have easily added library and selected that folder, but in this case, I don't think it will work. Â
How do I import my library with my music if the media folder does not have all my songs?Â
I had exported my library from my old laptop so I just have the library not my songs in mp3 format :/ if this makes sense..

iTunes 9.2 just came out. I am trying to add all my PDF's as books but is becoming really daunting. For some reason it will not let me add whole folders of pfd's using import (apple+O). I can import if I select a bunch but its time consuming since I have levels and levels of PDF's. An easier way of importing them. Also was this intended or maybe a bug?

I've got a folder containing 11 mp3 audio tracks that for some reason won't import into iTunes. I've tried the following:
- Double-Clicking each mp3 file
- Dragging the mp3 file into the iTunes window and the iTunes Dock icon
- Choosing 'Add to Library' from the file menu
mp3 track information:
Channel Count 1
Total Bit Rate 288,000

I am running Mac OS X 10.5.8. My friend gave me a USB with some songs on it. These songs work fine on his Windows OS. This is a step-by-step of what I did to try open the .mp3 files.
-I double click the .mp3 files.
-iTunes opens but songs are not imported.
-I drag and drop files into library but nothing happens. No error message.
-I plug in iPod, drag files straight to iPod to bypass iTunes library.
-ERROR "cannot be played on this iPod".
-I'm beginning to suspect viruses or corrupt files.
-I open up .mp3 files in Quicktime. They play fine.
-I try VLC player, RealPlayer and Finder's Quick Look. They all play fine.
Apparently iTunes is the only player (that I have) that will not open these .mp3 files. It's not that I'm desperate to listen to these tunes, but I'm desperate to see if anything is wrong with my iTunes or computer.
