Sep 9, 2008Is there any way to do this easily? I mean, some kind of action like we can use on Address Book duplicates?

View 3 RepliesI realize now that I could have stopped iPhoto from importing duplicates, but is there an easy way to remove duplicates once they have been imported?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe (the wife and I) both use our iphones to enter events on our calendar. We've set it up so that it should sync with mobile me (thus updating our mac and iphones). The problem is that things are getting deleted A lot! When I open ical on my mac, there are at least 20 "calendars" in the far left column (I didn't know we were creating a "new" calendar every time we used a new color for an event). Anytime we plug our iphones in the ical comes up saying that there are duplicates that need to be resolved. I hit ok. I thought I was doing the right thing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an iPod, but I just got a droid mobile phone, and I want to use them both for music. In order to get my "protected" songs purchased from the iTunes store on to the phone I have burned them on to cds and imported them as MP3s into iTunes. So now I've got over 100 duplicate songs (protected and mp3), and I want to delete the protected versions so that the remaining mp3 versions will sync with both my iPod and my droid phone.
If I delete these protected (purchased) songs from the library, will they remain in the iTunes Music folder on my pc or will they be completely removed from my hard drive, too?
Then, if they are completely deleted from my pc, is there any way to recover these deleted purchased songs if I ever wanted to in the future?
Need to remove duplicates from iphoto Libraries is there anything out there to help?

When I launch Imovie, it loads all 20 hours without asking then proceeds to quit unexpectedly if I try to do anything. Is there a way to prevent iphoto from loading all of them without deleting the videos from my iPhoto library? I have about a 30 minute video I would like to edit I'm frustrated. How about removing all those clips except the ones I care about? Can I do that? (after waiting 20-30 minutes for them to load)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm traveling tomorrow to Europe and am only taking my iPad and camera. I'm planning on using an SD card reader to upload my photos/videos to my iPad, then use Dropbox on the iPad to copy my daily shots to my Dropbox account. I'm thinking that I'll have an AppleScript on my home computer's /Dropbox/europe/ folder to look for newly added data and then auto import that into iPhoto. What's the best way to handle this? I got it working with a couple of test images but when iPhoto sees photos that it's already imported it asks me if I want to import in the duplicates or skip them. I'd like to skip them or write the AppleScript in a way that handles this. I'm also fine with copying the photos out of the Dropbox folder into a separate folder elsewhere and not using iPhoto. I'm just trying to theft proof my data in case my iPad gets stolen or if my Dropbox goes goofy and deletes the photos. Maybe copy newly added data to a designated directory outside of the Dropbox folder? How can I do this?Â

View 1 Replies View Relatedcan someone help as my girlfriend and me are both new to Mac's She was trying to clean up her photo folders after copying some over from her old PC, and in doing so deleted ALL her photos to the trash and then emptied the trash! iphoto would not load because it said there was no library. after downloading some software we could scan the HD and extract all the jpeg files to an external HD, then we could copy them back into the iphoto library! The problem is that most of the time when she is using iphoto and starts editing a photo it will run VERY slow. I am wandering if i can put the iLife 09 DVD in her iMac and reinstall it??? And will that do anything like deleting existing photos / music? Like i said we are both new to Macs and i still havent got my head round the file system from my old PC
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently switched over to a Mac from a PC which I've had for years. Since I never had a photo storage program on my PC, all my photos were kept in folders on my hard drive. When I got my Mac, all my photos were imported into iPhoto and now I simply use iPhoto for everything I upload. My question is, can I delete the old photos (now imported into iPhoto but still on my hard drive in seperate folders) from my hard drive to save space without deleting them from iPhoto? I checked my settings and I do have the "copy to iPhoto library" option checked but I don't know if that makes a difference. Any information would be helpful - it would be nice if I knew I could delete photos that are essentially duplicates to save space on my hard drive.

A few weeks ago I upgraded to 10.9.3, enabled keys function, etc. Since then, I've been having major issues with my computer - there seems to be a hidden user who changes permissions. I get error messages at times saying files are being used by another user or I don't have permission to view some folders under Documents or Library//Application Support that I routinely use.Â
In Terminal I ran whois on some of the hidden folders this user has on my computer and was able to see various .com / .net addresses associated with the files, which I ran who's to learn more about.Â
Net / net, I need a command line in Terminal to list hidden users and then delete them. BTW, I've spoken with tech support for hours yesterday and we even erased my hard drive, reinstalled OS X and the hidden users are still there. We've identified it's not a problem with our carrier. things are routinely in my Trash, such as music files I never deleted and other misc. files that even after I Secure Empty Trash, show up again (random plist files, keys, etc.). Hardware Overview:OX XVersion 10.9.3 (13D65)2.4 GHz Intel Core i7Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
iphoto froze after importing while deleting photos from card. Then when i force quit, the photos were not on iphoto and were also deleted from memory card. what can i do to get photos back?

I am looking for an alternative to iPhoto for viewing and organizing photos. I need something that allows for tags like iPhoto does and preferably something with a full-screen mode for editing.
My main problem with iPhoto is that it gets bogged down when you have imported thousands of photos. And I hate having to import photos on external drives before I can view them.
I've seen a lot of recommendations for Picasa, but I can't use that 'cause I'm on a PPC.
I got iPhoto 09 today, but had the same problem anyway in 08. Most of my pictures are of my pre-Mac days and all of the ones which were taken turning the camera i.o. vertically, are not automatically rotated by iphoto. I'm quite sure other software does that.
Doesn't iPhoto have the ability to determine whether a photo is supposed to be rotated or not? If not, is there any free software out there?
I'm getting iPhoto 09' set up with faces. Is it possible to find faces that have been found but not identified? I have 3000+ photos and want to find faces I haven't identified yet.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've amassed a relatively large collection of videos (sporting events, concerts, TV shows, etc.)--all in different formats and most of them not iTunes/iPhoto-compatible as is. My question is: is there a nice, clean app that allows me to manage all of my videos (and perhaps tag them with keywords) just like iPhoto does for photos? I know that I could go through and convert all of them, but like I said, I have a large collection, so that'd be more trouble than it's worth.
I've checked out yFlicks, but it appears to not be 10.6-compatible right now.
I was backing up my dvds to Atv and got this window showing. I am wondering why some drives are duplicates and is it a concern?

I have some .mp3 duplicates that I would like to delete as well.

I'm in the process of cleaning up duplicates on the HD. What I want to know "positively", is Trash Bin fully isolated, and cannot be accessed/used by OS X 10.7.3 when exercising applications resident on the HD.
Note: I am using Parallels 7 for Windows apps.

I have just discovered much to my delight - that I can burn my music files as MP3 format. Obviously I have had to chanage the preferences and some items I have had to re import - but with existing files I have had to create an MP3 file from the existing file - which creates a duplicate.I can see which are which by listing KIND is there an easier way to delete the original AAC file? I really don't want to have too many (as I have too many already) music files.I have tried searching for the duplicates under finder but only the new file is showing? So far I am using a playlist to create MP3 and I imagine that then clearing the playlist and recreating playlist - list by kind and slect all AAC to either deselct or delete.

Is there any way to automatically find duplicate fonts that have different names. I have 1000's of fonts and it is slow to do it manually.
View 17 Replies View RelatedSo I know about the actual menu item in iTunes, but I'd like to know if there was a way to only remove true duplicates, not the same song on a different album. Like I there is one song from a particular artist that is on 3 different albums, is there any way to have all three songs read from only one file in the HDD? That way, the song would be a part of every album, but it wouldn't take up my HDD space. I could probably do this manually by deleting those other two files, and then "locating" them when iTunes can't find it, but this would take forever. So is there any app that does such a thing? Or am I dreaming?
View 9 Replies View Relatedmy library has some issues in that it does not register all of my songs in itunes
I know this as when I copied my entire folder to my macbook (minus the library and .xml files) I have a few hundred more songs than I do on my desktop
However, since I did not have the .xml and library folder carry over, I lost all my playcounts, playlists, dates, etc that I like to have.
Is there any way I can reimport my entire library and only add the songs that are not "seen" by itunes at the moment? FWIW, I have thousands of song files and I do not want to manually search for which ones show up in my mb library but not my desktops
