Applications :: IPhoto 09 Causing Shut Down - Can't Open Current Photo Library Using This Version Of Iphoto
Feb 24, 2009I just imported some photos into IPhoto 09 and shortly afterwards my IMac did a hard shut down. Now when I open IPhoto I get the following error:
The Photo Library nees to be upgraded to work with this version of IPhoto.
After that I click on upgrade and get the following msg:
Can't open current photo library using this version of Iphoto.

Mar 25, 2005Don't know if anyone has made an album using iPhoto yet, but if you haven't, you should. I needed some additional portfolios to place around some places where my images are displayed, and I was really getting tired of making my own.
The quality is very good - I got the hardbound 20-page book with black pages and it looks awesome. My only complaint id that they are currently having problems accepting books with Type 1 post script fonts.Had the book in three days after ordering it right through iPhoto.

Dec 11, 2007I need to figure out how to add text to a photo book project in iphoto. I want to send this as a gift to my father... I chose my initial layout, added pages (in a particular order of photos on a time line) and there isnt alot of text in the layout i chose.
I would love to add text to the photos/pages but cant seem to figure it out.

Oct 18, 2010Is there any way of putting captions below each photo in an iPhoto Book? I can't see any way of doing this in iPhoto (I have 09). The only way I can see is to put a caption below the photo using Photoshop or Graphic Converter, for example, and put that photo in the Book. That is a bit tedious. Typing directly into the Book would surely be easier.

Sep 1, 2010I have looked at the online material for Aperature and Lightroom and am not sure if either of these will allow me to do this. I have been using finder but that is a painful process as I need to have 11 windows open and keep jumping back and forth between windows. There has to be a more efficient way to get through this.
So, I am curious if either of the programs I mentioned would do the trick, or some other software? Programs like PSE really don't help for this. Adobe Bridge was somewhat useful but also needs multiple copies of the program running at the same time to use multiple folders.

Oct 5, 2010Ive downloaded a bunch, but couldnt find one that fit my needs.
So on microsoft paint, you have the ability to set specific margins when printing, fit to page, center, etc... as well as change printer, paper type, and ink settings for optimal quality..
however i couldnt find one thus far to use on my mac.. closest ive downloaded has been google's picasa but there are only preset margins and nothing regarding print quality, etc
so i need a program with these capabilities..it doesnt need to be a good photo editor... i just need to open existing photos and be able to adjust print margins/ quality myself

Oct 25, 2010I'm at my wits end trying to find a decent (and preferably cheap) solution for bulk tagging photos. Before I cave and end up buying Lightroom 3, I thought I'd check here first. My requirements are:
- Must be able to write metadata directly to the picture file (i.e. destructive edits, which rules out any Apple software)
- Provide easy options for filtering based on keyword tags
- Will build list of keywords from my existing photos, so I can reuse.

Nov 20, 2009I noticed that this box pops up everytime I go to close iPhoto and it's an extremely slow process. Each time I have closed iPhoto, it takes about 5 to 10 minutes to "save this critical information." Before I upgraded to my new 27" iMac, it would never do this and iPhoto would close right away. Is this standard now? Why does it take so long to do its thing and close?

Sep 4, 2010I have some very seductive pictures of my wife that I want to secure in an unhackable* program on my iPhone and Mac so that they never see the light of day unless I enter the correct password.
Obviously my wife isn't going to be looking on my phone (she let me take the pictures with the phone in the first place)...my concern is if the phone is ever lost or stolen...I want those pictures totally unreachable if my phone ever winds up in the wrong hands.
I know that there is a very good program called "Folder Lock" for PC....but they don't have a corresponding Mac version (they do have an iPhone app, but then what do I do with the corresponding pictures that are on my Mac that Folder Lock doesn't have a desktop app for)?
So, anybody know of a Photo Locker/Encrypter/Vault for both the Mac and the iPhone?...don't necessarily care if they are the some company, just want end-to-end security so that if either one goes down, I have a backup on the other unit....but both are hackproof* if ever stolen or lost.
I should clarify one thing about my Mac requirements,...I'm actually looking for an application specifically designed for this exact purpose (as opposed to slick Terminal ".folder" fixes that would hide the folder, but in no way make it secure). So, an app with a Password is a Must, preferably with strong encryption.

Dec 1, 2010I am looking for an alternative to iPhoto for viewing and organizing photos. I need something that allows for tags like iPhoto does and preferably something with a full-screen mode for editing.
My main problem with iPhoto is that it gets bogged down when you have imported thousands of photos. And I hate having to import photos on external drives before I can view them.
I've seen a lot of recommendations for Picasa, but I can't use that 'cause I'm on a PPC.

Jan 28, 2009I got iPhoto 09 today, but had the same problem anyway in 08. Most of my pictures are of my pre-Mac days and all of the ones which were taken turning the camera i.o. vertically, are not automatically rotated by iphoto. I'm quite sure other software does that.
Doesn't iPhoto have the ability to determine whether a photo is supposed to be rotated or not? If not, is there any free software out there?

Mar 23, 2010I've amassed a relatively large collection of videos (sporting events, concerts, TV shows, etc.)--all in different formats and most of them not iTunes/iPhoto-compatible as is. My question is: is there a nice, clean app that allows me to manage all of my videos (and perhaps tag them with keywords) just like iPhoto does for photos? I know that I could go through and convert all of them, but like I said, I have a large collection, so that'd be more trouble than it's worth.
I've checked out yFlicks, but it appears to not be 10.6-compatible right now.

Nov 11, 2005Started archiving all my old photos and creating dvds. started off using iphoto which is great for compiling a quick slideshow to a couple of music tracks. i then imported these to idvd and created my first dvd project which i was pretty pleased with for a first attempt. The only thing i found annoying was that i could not link all the slideshows together in idvd so that they played one after another, instead you had to come back to the menu and start the next one...so i thought i would import these slideshow movies into imovie and create a complete movie with chapters, titles etc. but when i did this i noticed that the quality of the slideshow in imovie was very noticeably worse.
being new to mac i wasnt sure what was up so i thought about importing the photos directly into imovie and working with them there. but once again the quality was really poor compared to the iphoto and idvd slideshows. after this i though maybe its just a preview problem and all will be well when i burn them to dvd and watch them on tv...so i burnt a dvd with one slideshow created in iphoto and imported into idvd and also put on a movie of the same slide show that id imported into imovie and back.
anyway long story short quality still better in slide show created in iphoto.
OS X :: Copying Photo's From IPhoto To A DVD?

I have tried copy & paste but this leaves a small "tick" at the bottom corner of each pic and I am not sure what this means?

And it tells me to check my internet connection. I believe that is working fine because I can get on the internet..I have verizon. I'm assuming my server is working because I can send and receive email
