View 4 RepliesI realize now that I could have stopped iPhoto from importing duplicates, but is there an easy way to remove duplicates once they have been imported?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a huge music library, and a lot of the song tags include the song name, artist, and album all in the title of the song. Is there a program to fix this?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have Time Machine backups of two iPhoto Library files, one of which I've flawlessly copied to my new iMac, everything is in working order and awesome. Now I have an additional iPhoto Library from another computer that I'd like to add.
How should I go about doing this? I fear that if I simply drag-n-drop the Library file into iPhoto I'll get duplicates (the Original/Modified folders) and lose all the albums, etc.
I don't want aperature or iphoto to create their own libraries, I would like to work on a photo in pictures and the relevant folder and leave it there and not create another copy elsewhere. I recently read an article/tip on how to do this but can't find the relevant magazine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought an external hard drive for our airport extreme. Would it be a good idea to have our iphoto and itunes libraries on that hard drive, so that the various computers that we are using can access the libraries wirelessly?
If you think it is a good idea, how would you go about moving the itunes library? I think it's easy enough for iphoto, but itunes seems a bit more complicated?

In the Apple drop-down menu I have duplicates of: Restart, Shut Down and Log Out. In my Applications folder all the items are not in alphabetical order, they are reversed, ie. A's on the bottom of the page, W's on top.

Is there any way to do this easily? I mean, some kind of action like we can use on Address Book duplicates?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for something like syncOTunes but for iPhoto. My wife and I each have our own mac, and just like our music libraries, we end up with very different iPhoto libraries. From a simple "backup" perspective it would be nice to sync the two up now and then a la syncOTunes.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have iTunes and iPhoto libraries on my MBP that I would like to mirror to my external/Airport HDD so that my Mac mini can access the content.
I've been using iTunes sharing function, but it doesn't sync ratings/play count/etc, and iPhoto doesn't seem to have the option.
I just bought a MacBook Air and am looking to share the library in my iPhoto between my iMac and MacBook Air.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAs I am planning to buy a MacBook today, what is the best, most efficient way for me to transfer my iTunes and iPhoto libraries? I already backed up my Documents on an external HD. I have a FW400 to FW400 cable. Is there a process using this that will be fast and easy?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI had to send my computer to apple for a repair and it came back wiped clean.
Due to the problem it was having I was unable to back up, I found this out when I tried to and my external hd back up failed . I have everything on my iPhone that I really need, iTunes and iPhoto library. I is there anyway to take that from my iPhone and put it on my computer?
I already have the iMac up and running and would like to bring my eMac libraries over to the new iMac. Is the easiest way to this is drag and drop files on the iMac from the eMac using firewire? How do I mount the eMac as an external drive? I bought a new ibook in the the past, but never transfered my 25,000+ picture iPhoto or 3,000+ iTunes libraries to it (saved space). Also, I assume all I have to do for the copy protected aac files I have downloaded on the eMac is to add my log in to the iTunes on the iMac?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm traveling tomorrow to Europe and am only taking my iPad and camera. I'm planning on using an SD card reader to upload my photos/videos to my iPad, then use Dropbox on the iPad to copy my daily shots to my Dropbox account. I'm thinking that I'll have an AppleScript on my home computer's /Dropbox/europe/ folder to look for newly added data and then auto import that into iPhoto. What's the best way to handle this? I got it working with a couple of test images but when iPhoto sees photos that it's already imported it asks me if I want to import in the duplicates or skip them. I'd like to skip them or write the AppleScript in a way that handles this. I'm also fine with copying the photos out of the Dropbox folder into a separate folder elsewhere and not using iPhoto. I'm just trying to theft proof my data in case my iPad gets stolen or if my Dropbox goes goofy and deletes the photos. Maybe copy newly added data to a designated directory outside of the Dropbox folder? How can I do this?

Is there any way to automatically find duplicate fonts that have different names. I have 1000's of fonts and it is slow to do it manually.
View 17 Replies View RelatedSo I know about the actual menu item in iTunes, but I'd like to know if there was a way to only remove true duplicates, not the same song on a different album. Like I there is one song from a particular artist that is on 3 different albums, is there any way to have all three songs read from only one file in the HDD? That way, the song would be a part of every album, but it wouldn't take up my HDD space. I could probably do this manually by deleting those other two files, and then "locating" them when iTunes can't find it, but this would take forever. So is there any app that does such a thing? Or am I dreaming?

View 2 Replies View Relatedmy library has some issues in that it does not register all of my songs in itunes
I know this as when I copied my entire folder to my macbook (minus the library and .xml files) I have a few hundred more songs than I do on my desktop
However, since I did not have the .xml and library folder carry over, I lost all my playcounts, playlists, dates, etc that I like to have.
Is there any way I can reimport my entire library and only add the songs that are not "seen" by itunes at the moment? FWIW, I have thousands of song files and I do not want to manually search for which ones show up in my mb library but not my desktops
I gave my daughter a DVD with a number of Albums on it in mp3 format. When she imported them into iTunes on her MacBook(Intel, 10.4.11, iTunes v8) some of the tracks were duplicated.
When her flatmate imported them into iTunes on her PC, every track was duplicated.
Any ideas as to why this should happen and how to stop it?
Okay, so for two of my albums (both by the same artist) there are three pictures of each album as if they are each their own album. Every song is tagged the exact same, nothing's different, artist name and album name are the same throughout. Screenshot attached. I've tried clearing album art, deleting and reimporting, nothing seems to fix this.
Also, on that same album, half the songs don't play on my iPhone/iPod. They play perfectly fine on my Mac, and they are encoded the same as all of my other songs, but when I go to play them on my iPhone, the song never starts. Nothing freezes, the song just never plays. I have to restart the iPod app for any other song to play. I've tried restarts, restores, firmware upgrades, nothing. This problem has existed since 1.1.4. Why?
My mail application on my macbook doesn't seem to work. For the past few days every time I open up the application it receives duplicates of the most recent email in my inbox (one of them got to like 90) and I can't even read these new messages. All old messages in my inbox seem to work fine as they had previously but any new incoming mail can't be read and they get received multiple times.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I just did a clean install of XP on my laptop, downloaded the latest version of iTunes, and re-imported my music library from my external drive. Suddenly, random albums are showing multiple album art on Cover Flow. I'm sorting cover flow by "Album Artist", I've checked the "Part of a Compilation" box when appropriate, and made sure the "Sort Album Artist" field is correct.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe reason I ask is because if it does, I will like to delete the music I add to iTunes from its original location. Can I do this or is it recommended that the music also be in the original location?
