I have a Mac/Windows home network with two airport extreme base stations. One is connected to my dsl modem. The other is used wirelessly to extend the network, and I have a Xerox Phaser 5500 connected to one of its lan ports. Until recently, all computers, connected wirelessly could share the internet connection and print to the Phaser. Due to a power failure, I had to reset both the Airport base stations. I can still connect to the internet, however I can not print from any of the computers.

Printer software for canon MP830 is unavailable from Apple. I downloaded the driver from canon and installed it. It shows on the desktop, but I cannot add the printer. It keeps wanting to find the software at apple. How do I configure this to work?

As with most companies, ours is on a push to go greener. The IP department has decided that one thing that can be done is to encourage the use of duplex printers. We have one, but from the Mac you must go in and specifically select printing on both sides somewhere in the print screen for each app. Is there a way in the setup of the printer to make duplex printing the default?

I have been given an iMac g3 with osx 10.4.11 installed and airport card. My son will have this as his first computer. It is up and running and surfing the net using the airport connected to our home network. I have searched the forums and tried all the results I could find but am still unable to print from the iMac to my network printer.
iMac G3 10.4.11 osx slot loaded, airport wireless. Officejet all in one 6310 usb to pc running Vista. I have tried all the usual SAMBA and LPD methods listed going for generic printer, but get error 256 using printer utility, and NT_status_no_memory when using samba with all the settings, when trying LPD the printer service just stops.
I use LPD://user:password@workgroup/server/sharename and same for smb. I have set up a seperate account for the mac on the vista pc with password and started lpd service I've also edited the registry for lmcompatibility, printer sharing is enabled and both machines have the same workgroup name (WORKGROUP).

My son gave me a working (on a pc) HP 2600n Color Laser Printer. I know it works, printed a test page from the menu.
But when I try to install the software, the printer doesn't show up in the add printer dialogue box. I'm connected via ethernet to my LinkSys 5 port Switch. Is that OK?
Is there some trick to making this work? I also looked for this specific printer in the find printer dialogue and Apple doesn't even list it. I'm using Snow Leopard... shouldn't the OS have just about every driver known to man?
Is this printer going to have a name or an IP address and if its the latter how do I determine the IP address of the printer? But it still baffles me that the mac install software on the CD doesn't do all this automatically.

I have a Dell Desktop running XP connected to a Linksys router. Also, there is a Canon MX700 connected to the router via ethernet. I would like to set this up so that both the Mac and PC can print to the Canon over the network. The Dell prints fine to the Canon, but when I try to enter the IP address of the printer (192.168 etc.) into the macbook, things do not work. A window comes up saying "192.168... is busy. Will try again in 20 second.

3 iMacs on network (running Leopard) are not recognizing the printer that is connected to iMac running OS X 10.3.9. Attempted to make some changes in Terminal on the Leopard' macs in regards to the CUPS protocol that the 10.3 version of OS X uses to recognize networked printers but it didnt seem to work.
Note: I did attempt to add --- cupsctl BrowseProtocols='"cups dnssd" --- to the Terminal in accordance with an article on Apples support area but the Terminal responded with "unmatched".

I'm trying to print some documents from my new MacBook aluminum. The printer is connected to a computer which is running Vista. I can print documents from my old dell laptop and my PC desktop which are both running XP over the network. I can also share files between them all. I can see the files that are shared with the MacBook but I cannot select the network printer. Please keep in mind that I am new to OS X leopard.

I've been trying all day to get my new wireless printer to find my wireless network. No joy.
I have an airport extreme router connected to an AT&T 2WIRE modem. The guys that installed the AT&T stuff recently said I normally wouldn't need the airport extreme because the 2WIRE serves as both modem and router, however it does not work with an airport express, which I have in another room to boost the signal. So when the printer looks for the (SSID) network, it sees my apple network, which is what my macbook and windows vista laptops also see and connect to. After that, I'm entering the wireless network key from the 2WIRE.

Here's our situation:We're going to install 7 new network printers (the multifunction copier type) in our network of about 100 OS X computers (and a few PCs).I was wondering if there is a way to "copy" the print&fax settings from one computer to all of them. This would save us the time of manually adding and configuring each driver.I had a look at /Library/Printers/InstalledPrinters.plist. "The document "InstalledPrinters.plist" could not be opened". Which seems logical as it is a 0k file.Nothing of use in /Library/Preferences either.Any hints/solutions?(We currently still run 10.5.6)

I have been trying everything I can think of to get 2 PC's on our home network to print on my Canon MP610 which is connected via USB to my MacBook Pro and the two PC's recognise the printer and add it as a device but when I try to print, the message "access denied, unable to connect" is displayed. If it's of any relevance, I cannot get the PC's to access the Public folder on the MBP over the network either.

I need some advice, I have a wireless printer that I would like to share using my home network but Im not sure what would be the best way to do this, since I have never done anything like this before. What I have is a wireless printer(HP), a MacBook (wirelessly connected), a MacMini (wired connected), a PC laptop (wirelessly connected) and a linksys router. Is there a way to share this through my router or do I need to install the printer in one of the machines and then share the print? What would be my best alternative to share this printer?

Being the only Mac user in my house -however streamlined it is-, does hold a few problems. I have set up my iMac, and have happily joined my Windows home network, file sharing does work easily and neatly but as I found out the other day, printing from a Mac that is connected to a Windows based network can be very difficult. So for a long time now, I have been trying to set up my iMac (connected via WiFi) so that it prints over my home network. The printer; an EPSON TX100 is connected to the USB port in a Windows XP desktop and I have set up Printer sharing. The desktop is connected to my D-Link G604T.
I have added the printer through System Pref: Print & Fax:+:Windows tab: 'network':'computer':'printer' and have tried using both the Generic Postscript driver and the specified printer driver.
When I go ahead and print, the printer icon appears in the dock and then quickly disappears without a printout. I have replaced the ink and paper but still no luck. I have tried the methods suggested on some other threads, but none have succeeded. I would be happy to provide any extra information and try anything. Networked printing works with all Windows computers in the house including a NEC laptop, so why wont it work with a Mac?

I have a networked printer in my home network. I also have a (working) PPTP VPN set up to connect to that home network while on the road. When I open the VPN tunnel, I can adress all devices on the network, including the printer. I can ping it as well as open its Web front end (via Safari). The only thing that doesn't work is: I can't print over the tunnel! I've tried turning on "send all traffic over VPN", but that didn't help. Some research on the web seems to indicate that the solution lies in an option "Exclude Local LAN from Tunnel". This, however, is not an option for the built-in PPTP client in Lion.Â

I have installed my HP designJet 500+ printer on to my iMac g5, which opperates OS 10.3.9 and I have no problems printing directly. However, I am trying to print to the same printer using my intel based iMac opperating OS 10.6.8 but I can't seem to 'see' the printer on the network.Â
I have made sure that the share printers button is checked on both computers and I have no problem establishing a netwok between the two computers (via ethernet).Â
Although the designjet is market as both shared and default printer on the G5, it doesn't actually appear in the shared printers list on the computer.

My Brother (windows fanboy) is able to print just fine through his wireless PC (Win7) but I can't get my head around why I cannot. I recently replaced my aging linksys G router with an Airport extreme. I have an HP 2605dn printer connected to it via ethernet. When I set this up with the old router everything worked great, printer showed up in OSX and added with a couple of clicks. Now that I have moved to the airport I cannot find the printer at all from OSX on either my MacBook Pro with 10.6 or my Powerbook with 10.5. However all of the Windows 7 machines I have in the house see it and print fine. I feel like I'm missing something very simple and help would be amazing.

Can any one tell me how to determine the IP address of a network printer. I have an OKIpage 12i which suddenly can't be seen via Appletalk, so I was going to try to connect to it using IP (which is how I connect to the Xerox Phaser we also have)

I have my Mac Pro connected to my hp c3100 printer. It is shared, all sharing options are enabled on the Mac Pro. 2 Macbooks and an iMac cannot find or see this printer. Networking, screensharing, file transfers, they all work fine. Just can't see the printer. Is AppleTalk required to do this? Here's some screenshots from the Mac Pro. I have never tried to network a printer in Leopard, I seem to remember it was easier in Tiger.

I'm trying to connect my leopard macbook to a Canon Pixma MP210 that his hooked up to an XP machine. Sharing is enabled in XP on the printer and I can successfully add the printer to the mac in system preferences. I've downloaded the proper drivers from Canon's website and selected them for the printer. The problem is that when I try to execute a print job, the print queue comes up and hangs on status "printing."
Also, on the XP machine, the print queue recognizes a job is being requested but the status hangs on "spooling." The document never actually prints. Finally after a couple minutes, the print queue in the mac has an error stating: "Error Number : 311 Printer is in use or an error has occurred. If an error has occurred, eliminate the cause of the error."
