Whenever I run Software Update and download something (or from iTunes), files pretty much download twice as fast as anything else I download. I'm on cable and I get around 1.5 MBs/second for Apple downloads, and I usually get around 500kbs-900kbs for everything else. Has anyone else noticed something similar?
Why have the Mail servers seem to have forgotten my password, when iCloud and Apple servers have not?Username and password are the same for all). Why,when Apple had a much better system than Windows, does Apple tyr to be more and more like Windows: more complicated and less useful?
Info: iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011), Mac OS X (10.6.8)
Apple on Monday released a finalized version of Safari 4, which the company is billing as the "world's astest and most innovative web browser." Available for Mac and Windows PCs and introduced as a beta in February of this year, Safari 4 features the Nitro engine which runs JavaScript up to 4.5 times faster than its predecessor.
"The successful beta release helped us fine tune Safari 4 into an even better, faster version that customers are going to love," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. "Safari is enjoyed by 70 million users worldwide and with its blazing fast speed, innovative features and support for modern web standards, it's the best browser on any platform."............
My husband's computers use Tiger and Leopard (10.5.8) to access his email on the Mail program. His mail is from Comcast and uses the Comcast server, not apple or iCloud. His mail suddenly stopped working a couple of days ago.....as it did on one of my machines that still uses Tiger. He had not done any updates that could have broken the software. He does not have iCloud except on his phone and he doesn't even have a .mac address. There is no reason for the comcast server to not be able to be accessed by Mail app. He did finally update everything that needed it and it still does not work. Why would Apple's change over to iCloud break email access from other servers and how can we fix it. He really doesn't want to do his mail on Comcast's web site as it's slow and awkward.
My very useful little daemon ntpd was behaving normally just weeks ago, but now, it checks with Apple's time servers like an obsessive/compulsive person might look at his/her watch.
i just bought a refurb off apple store, MBP intel i7 2.66 15" (on it's way) .. comes with a 500 gb 5400 rpm drive. obviously, no option to configure a refurb...
I'm Thinking to get one of the following:
A) Kingston M-Series or V+ B) OCZ Vertex Pro or EX series C) Crucial?
Ok I've looked around the net and the fastest dual G4 I see is a 1.8 GHZ upgrade to the 7447 chip that has 512KB of L2. I've seen a single 2.0GHZ g4 updrade but will we ever see a dual 2 GHZ g4? More importantly is freescale or whoever owns the chips now are going to make faster G4s for those still not willing to let go of their g4s (myself included going strong after 4 years) I would like to hold on to my dual 1.25GHZ longer but a 2HZ+ dual G4 seems promising for Final Cut Pro and Photoshop.
I have around 10 RSS feeds, and have NewsFire set to update every 5 minutes, and it didn't seem to want to update all the RSS feeds. So I just cut it back to like every 30 minutes, and it still doesn't seem like it updates. Like it'll alert me with one update in about 2 hours, and then when I manually update it, like 20 things pop up!
I checked each site and they are all updating on the same time slot, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Is just 10 RSS feeds too many? That would seem weird to me...
I finally got my graduation money to buy the macbook pro I want. It's the low end pro, 2.3ghz with retina display. ($2200) I checked online and they say there is a 3-4 week before the item even gets shipped. I also tried calling me local apple store twice and got 2 different responses, the first one said they got a shipment earlier today but they quickly sold out nearly an hour later, and the second specialist told me I should just order it online.
I just plugged my new mac in. I am trying to network it with 2 servers. I keep getting an error that there was a problem connecting to the server. The version of the server you are trying to connect to is not supported. Is there a way to fix get these macs hooked up without buying 2 new servers?
The 11inch air only has 128GB and i'm getting short on space. Since the mb air only has 2 usb ports and no firewire or ethernet ports I'm stuck with the bandwidth of USB 2.0. I need 1 or 2 HD's for my audio and video editing so they need to be fast but it couldn't hurt if it looked nice and fits in my back pocket.Any recently Flash drives out there which is worth to take a look at?
I need a new external drive for my macbook pro. I need 1.5TB of capacity and found the Seagate FreeAgent Desk. But I am not sure if I should go with the Mac version which features a firewire 800 connection. Is it that much faster? And will the usb 2.0 interface be enough for 1080p playback?
Looking for something that can expand all rars in one click. Like you highlight all the folders and expand them into one folder so that they can be unrared easily? Does something like this exist? Right now i'm using rar expander and i have to select each file manually and it takes forever!
At about 11:50 PM tonight, my AirPort Utility automatically opened and told me that I had "No DNS Servers." Then it told me to preform "Double NAT" mode, in which I should use "Bridge Mode." I don't know what is happening here. I never have any problems with my AirPort like this. Should I be worried? Also at about 11:40 PM there was a bright flash outside.
It wasn't lightning, although there is a chance for some later tonight. Just seemed weird at the time. Maybe some wire on the ground transformer blew up. Who knows? Either way, the internet is fine but the Airport behavior is bizarre. Also my stereo system turned on magically just now while writing this. It has been off for weeks! Maybe I lost power shortly?
I have a 24/7 SMB server (RAID6) that I use for media serving via gigabit. How can I auto mount this server without doing a CMD+K everytime from finder? I want them to automatically mount upon login under OSX and show up under "Devices" right under the hard drives. Right now the way it works is, I mount it manually (6 partitions) and it shows up on my desktop. However it does not show up under devices. What I can do is individually drag and drop these mounted drives to the devices area so other applications can easily see it.
While connected to VPN I am receiving the error "There was a problem connecting to the server "servername". This happens on any server (Windows 2008) in my company. I am able to connect to those same servers using Virtualbox running XP from the same machine. I am able to connect to those same servers while in the office no problem. I am using the Cisco IPSec client within Lion.I have tried both CIFS and SMB.
Since I updated to Leopard, some of my video and slideshow programs are lagging on screen. I have done a pretty good search on the forums here, but am getting some contradicting info. What is the fastest video card for my early 2005 G5 dual 2.0 with AGP 8x slot? ATI RADEON X800 Mac Edition Nvidia GeForce 6800 Ultra (what is the difference between the NVIDIA and the BFG cards?) I have an ATI Radeon 9650 with 256MB one single link and one dual link DVI. The ATI RADEON X800 Mac Edition has one ADC and one dual link DVI? Do both of those ports support a 30" Cinema HD display? My 9650 only supports one and it is in the 2nd port so it is annoying having my 23" be my main monitor and the 30" be the secondary.
Information: G5 Dual 2.0 (early 2005) 3GB RAM ATI Radeon 9650 30" and 23" Cinema HD, Macbook Pro 2 GB RAM Mac OS X (10.5.1)
I've got two great compact flash readers, but one has firewire, and the other has the wrong usb connector... so they are stuck with the mac pro. Anyone has any idea of the fastest usb card reader? I'm not a fan of waiting for 4 gig cards to unload.. back to back.... Don't make me use my mbp.
I know this comes up a lot but I couldn't find any recent ones that fitted my criteria. Basically I was just wondering what the fastest 500GB hard drive is for a 15inch MBP?? I've heard that the WD scorpio blue is pretty fast but I didn't know if it was THE fastest.
I'm downloading a movie on iTunes... and it's taking forever. Is this normal? I mean I may not have the fastest connection, but it's still DSL. experienced some slow downloads?
I'm about to order the 2.93ghz 24" imac with radeon 4850 and I was just wondering what the fastest/easiest way to transfer all the data i have from my current pc would be. (first time mac buyer so be specific thx)
