Software :: Adobe PDF Printing Spool - Imac OSX 10.4.11
Aug 29, 2008
i am having trouble printing to PDF from any program. i have an imac (OS X, version 10.4.11) and anytime i try to print to pdf the job starts to spool, and then the print job is stopped (it says "jobs stopped"). anytime i press the "start jobs" button it just stops the job again. do i need to download a new driver?
I am trying to print reports from my school database software. I have tried 3 internet browsers, turned off all pop up blockers, and I still can't print to screen a report in a pdf. I am trying to isolate the problem. On my PC, just hold the control key and click preview to pull up the report. Is this a problem with adobe and Mac OS X.

Since to switching to an iMac from a PC, I have noticed that all of my images while looking great on my monitor print out way too dark. I had to actually record an action in Photoshop to adjust the images prior to printing. I could not understand why and just figured well it is what it is and not much I can do about it. However, on reading the June issue of Shutterbug magazine, there was an article in there in which they specifically mentioned the iMac,and the problem that was being experienced by everyone, professionals and amateurs alike with the "dark" prints, and put it down to the fact the iMac monitor was too bright ergo the issue with the dark prints.
Has anyone found a way around this rather than having to adjust the image way out of range in order to get it to print correctly and then revert to a prior state? Please. PS - I am using an EPSON R220 and an EPSON 1400, both of which printed fine with my PC. (OK Mac lovers, don't jump down my throat. I love my Mac. it just has a few quirks - like all computers - that need to be unravelled.)
I have set up the imac with parallels and loaded xp pro and some software, one of which is Publisher from the Office 2003 suite. I have a HP 8550n colour laser printer attached to the imac via the parallel port on a port replicator and this prints fine when printing from the imac side of the story. When I go into parallels and xp pro and Publisher and create a document it simply wont print. There is only one printer attached to the imac at the moment, the document seems to leave the screen (as such) but it never gets to the printer.
I have an iMac 2.4 GHz with 2 GB RAM. My printer is a Canon PIXMA iP5200, which is connected via USB cable to a Maxtor Shared Storage Plus external hard drive. The hard drive is on my home wireless network.
This setup has been working fine for two years with my Windows computers; however whenever I try to print from the iMac I get an error message saying "Network host '192.168.1.66' is busy; will retry in 5 seconds. That's followed by another message saying 10 seconds, and so on up to 30 seconds. Needless to say I never do get a successful print.
The computer can see the printer and says it is "idle" and "ready." There are no other jobs waiting in the queue. The printer was setup with Internet Printing Protocol. The driver is correct and the firmware for the Maxtor drive is up to date.
I have decided to use my old desktop iMac G5 in my office just for mailing things out (I work from the home and my office is in the basement-easier to leave the iMac down there and leave my MacBook Pro upstairs)...Problem is, I'm using the printer that got with the MacBook down there (ip4300) and, good news is is that it's printing, BUT...the print is really small.
Got a iMac running OS 10.6, and am wanting to print from a Samsung ML-1710P printer connected via serial port to a XP PC. Everything seems to all be communicating with each other, except I eventually get a print error on the XP machine in the print manager. Can anyone help with this?
Notes: - the computer and printer can be seen by the mac. - when a print job is sent, the mac spools and sends it "ok" - the XP print manager status changes to "printing" then after about 1 min changes to an error. - the latest driver for that printer is installed on the XP machine. - I have tried to use the Generic Postscript Printer driver, the Generic PCL Laser Printer driver and an old Mac OS10.3 driver from the Mac end. There are no newer drivers available. I have shared this successfully printer before, but only from another windows machine.
just converted and purchased a 21.5" iMac this weekend, he took advantage of that rebate offer on printers and picked up the black HP wi-fi printer. Anyhow he does not have an airport extreme or any type of wireless router since his iMac is right next to his modem, so he is using Ethernet.
So I tried setting up a wireless network using his internal airport card in his iMac and this worked out great i enabled internet sharing and printer sharing. For some reason when i try to connect his printer with his network it says that the network is not within reach even though the printer is right next to the iMac. Am I doing something wrong? is there something I'm missing? I know the wi-fi network is working properly because he is able to connect with his iphone and I was able to connect with my MBP.
I have an Epson XP 610 printer on my iMac. This is a new printer but when I attempt to print an envelope from Contacts or an App I purchased some time ago which uses Contacts I get the address but also a rectangular black filled in box area towards the left of the envelope. It does not appear on the preview screen just on the printed copy. All other apps such as numbers or notes etc all print out fine. This has only appeared since I have used this new printer.

I have bucked the household Wintel trend and bought an iMac. I'd like to use our Kyocera printer which everyone else connects to via our WiFi (linksys) but my iMac doesn't see the device (internet yes). I installed bonjour for windows on the primary machine and it doesn't see the printer either. I have checked printer sharing everywhere to no avail. I am running OS X 10.5.6 and the rest of the machines in the house are Windows XP.
I have an HP 8000 hooked up with a USB cable. I've tried disconnecting everything, restarting, trying different ports, nothing is working. I also tried resetting the print system in system prefs, reinstalling the drivers as well. When I try to print the printer just sits there. Its always stuck on sending print data. I don't use this printer often but it used to work and I would get this problem once or twice every few months. I solved it just by restarting but now it wont go away.
We have a saving printer at our office that will not print no matter what I do, the OS is version 10.5x on a iMac. It sees the printer as a IP or ldf but it won't print! I know the printer works cause we print with windows PC's? The iMac is on a windows domain running a Mac OS.
I am not being able to print address labels from Contacts with the correct salutation, e.g.Â
Mr & Mrs A Smith Anyroad Anytown etcÂ
All I seem to be able to do is print Adam Smith or A Smith which is fine if he wasn't married to a fireball who would be mightily upset not to be included in the address label particularly at Xmas - neither do I want to print Adam & Fireball Smith ...
What is happening to my computer. This is the 2nd time it does this: all of a sudden the screen becomes black with reverse fluo colors.
I have to force quite with the push button & restart it. I repaired the permissions & restarted it. It's working again, but I am wondering if I have an alien in it.

I just upgraded my imac G5 to OS 10.5.8 and as a result can no longer use my adobe photoshop elements software. I was thinking of downloading a simple free program like Image Tricks but was wondering if this would do any damage. I am not very familiar with issues regarding free software. s
I've heard that there's a virus being spread via fake Adobe updates. I'm getting a notice to install Adobe Reader version 9.5.1. How do I know wether this is legit?
I attached my Imac to the Airport and the printer to the Airport. It's a Canon Pixma MX700. The airport utility sees the printer but when I try to print, the Imac does not see the printer. I hardwired the Imac to the Airport because I assumed the connection speed woud be better. Could this be the problem? I am able to get on-line from my laptop PC so I know the thing is working. I have not tried to print from the laptop.
I'm on a Mac OS X, version 10.6.3. Processor 2.66 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo. Memory: 2 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. I'm a graphic designer so I always have Photoshop CS4 & InDesign CS4 running simultaneously 8 hours a day. (Firefox 3.6.3 is also running). Never had a problem until recently - the screen would suddenly turn WHITE, or BLUE w/ VERTICAL STRIPES. Then I have to reboot.
I had 3 crashes today. I did notice when I was scrolling w/ my (sorta old & ghetto Kensington mouse) that it froze the iMac twice. IS THERE A PATCH, OR SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR THIS? Anyone else having similar crashes?
I have 2 iMac G5's both running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.Suddenly one decided that it woud not allow Photoshop 9 (CS1) to work so I tried to reinstall. It seems to reinstall but will still not save files. Tried to reinstall Photoshop CS2, and the whole CS2 suite and the discs will not load at all. I have tested the disc in the other iMac and it's fine. I have tried all the obvious repair routes - disc utility, restarting from the system CD, creating a new user, software updates, but still cannot get any of teh Adobe sofatware to reinstall properly.
I'm selecting my wife's new iMac and I'm uncertain which video card to get. She uses Adobe CS3 professionally and will upgrade to Snow Leopard. But she doesn't edit video, watch movies, play games on her Mac. And her CS3 work seems not too heavy, since it still works well on a 6-year old dual G5 system. But I understand Snow Leopard has support for GPU acceleration. For graphic design work, are the GT130 or ATI 4850 worth the upgrade price over the GT120?
Recently, every time I open Adobe Reader, or click on a PDF document on file to open it, Reader starts opening all PDF documents on file continuously until I get a message saying there are too many open documents to open any more. The only way out appears to be use of force quit. Have I picked up some kind of virus, or is there just a setting that I need to change?

For the last month or so I've been getting pop up messages on my system that I have to update Flash Payer.Â
I click the link, download the installation dmg, double click the installer, 4/5ths of the way through it says it can't complete the operation. (I close all browsers etc. )Â
Google Chrome is running the latest version of Flash as it does it automatically (v14), but Safari and presumably anything else that uses Flash is running v13.
After updating my Mini (mid 2011) OS to Yosemite, Adobe Illustrator CS6 has launch error: To open Adobe Illustrator cs6.app you need to install the legacy java SE6 runtime. I attempted to install but each time Java SE6 runtime is downloaded it shows up as a damaged file. Now what?

At this current stage i have the white macbook, which i love. I'm looking into getting a iMac 24. Just a few things which worry me. I will be using adobe photoshop all the time for designing sites, is there a need to have a 8800 upgrade to let it run smoothly? Are you able to upgrade the graphics cards in iMac's after purchase? Also, been reading about and all this stuff about a new iMac. If true, whens it likely going to happen?
I'm wanting to purchase two of the new 24" iMacs for my Graphic/Web design business. I've been looking at the 24" 2.66 model with the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M integrated graphics chipset. I have been reading reviews that say this model of iMac is fine for gaming but not for a graphics workstation. Our main software is the Adobe Design suite, is anyone on this forum using this model of iMac as a graphics workstation, and do you find any lack in performance with adobe products.
When trying to install Adobe Acrobat 11 Pro on my iMac running 10.9.4, the install will not finish and hangs when installer indicates "running package scripts".
