I am trying to print reports from my school database software. I have tried 3 internet browsers, turned off all pop up blockers, and I still can't print to screen a report in a pdf. I am trying to isolate the problem. On my PC, just hold the control key and click preview to pull up the report. Is this a problem with adobe and Mac OS X.

I am running windows through VirtualBox. I only have Quickbooks on it because I don't have a Mac version. I need to be able to print my reports in quickbooks, but it's telling me there is no printer installed in windows even though I can print outside of windows. I tried to save in the "shared documents" so I could come back and print that way, but the documents don't show up. How can I print through Windows & VirtualBox? I also can't get Windows to recognize my jump drive so I can transfer it to another computer to print either.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have received 2 Panic Attack reports in the past 24 hours the first was obvious with the little black window message appearing in the middle of my screen the system was idle at the time with several internet window open and a exel workbook. The second occured overnight when I came to my Mac this morning the screen was black i.e. appeared to be asleep as normal I hit a key and nothing happened, I checked the machine and noted that indicator lights on a USB drive I had connected and this copnfirmed the machine was still on, I had my own panic attack! I did the reboot by turning the off switch off, and then restarted a report was displayed indicating a Panic Attack had occured i.e.Â

For many of my contacts, when I do a search with Spotlight, Address Book reports there is a Duplicate.Â

I was having problems with the external drive where I store my Time Machine backups, so I tried plugging and unplugging the drive but could not mount the drive. I ran Disk Utility and tried to verify the disk, which told me the disk needed to be repaired. I tried to repair the disk only to get an error message that Disk Utility could not repair the disk and it needed to be reformatted. So I tried to erase the disk with Disk Utility only to get the error message "Volume erase failed: Media kit reports not enough space on this device for requested operation". I am not sure what else to try at this point and could not find any similar questions here. Â
The drive in question is a 3TB USB Seagate Backup + Desk Media, formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). It's divided into two partitions, one of which (2.2 TB) holds only Time Machine backups of my desktop and laptop and the other of which (800GB) is formatted similarly with some files stored on it. I was able to verify and repair this other partition. I'm running Disk Utility 13 on an iMac (2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) running OSX 10.8.5Â ...

I have an old G5 XServe running 10.5.8 that is set up as an OpenDirectory master. I need to move the OpenDirectory information (Users and Groups) to a new machine running Lion Server. How can I do this? I tried using the "Archive" function in server admin on the 10.5 machine to create an archive, and then restoring on the 10.7 machine, but while I didn't get any errors, none of my users moved across either. I could, of course, do an export/import from Workgroup Manager, but as that wouldn't transfer the passwords, it's of limited use. How can I move the database across servers?

I got a new 2TB hard drive, and I'm trying to format it as HFS+ journaled case sensitive encrypted, each time I try I get the following error: "MediaKit reports block size error, usually caused by not being a multiple of 512." This is a brand new drive, it has a GUID partition map with one partition, that was created by Disk Utility, and the disk passed a full hardware scan from Drive Genius. Normally when I get an error I can google it, but this particular error only gives me links to RAID problems, and I'm not doing anything with RAID. What determines the block size? I did not get an option to set it anywhere that I could see. How do I fix this error and get my drive encrypted?

I am having problems printing pdf files off the web. These are past exam papers which are stored on the website. When I try to print the first page is often blank or contains a coloured box which is part of a logo on the website but the text included is missing.Â
When I try to open on preview I get completely blank pages. The websiteis a secure website.Â
I'm using a canon isensys LBP7750 with UFR ii driver. I read in the printer utility help desk that it may not work with Adobe reader v 6.0. I have downloaded the most recent printer drivers and Adobe software. I tried running PostScript but the printer just keeps pausing.Â

I just upgraded to 10.7.3Â from 10.6.8 on my Mac Pro (3,1). Since then, I have had to wait a couple of minutes (with a spinning beach ball) just to print. During that time, the print dialog box is frozen. It doesn't matter whether the output is a network laser printer, a USB inkjet or even a PDF file. And it doesn't make a difference with the application. I have tried using generic printer drivers, reinstalling lion from the recovery drive, using DiskWarrior and Disk Utility to repair the drive, repairing disk permissions and using the combo update. I originally installed Lion from the App Store. I have a Macbook Pro with Lion that has no trouble printing over Air Port Extreme on the same laser printer.

View 1 Replies View RelatedRunning a Windows Storage server to have a central machine to run services of like iTunes, epbook server and printers.My biggest pain at the moment would be to print from my Mac Mini to the shared printers on the Windows server. Everything goes fine install canon drivers on the mac and connect to the printers vai LPD or SMB.With SMB I can do a print test page from the mac, as soon as I print anything the mac print status simply says sending print data on the windows server it says printing ... and that is that. The same happens for LPD, the only diffs is that the Windows machine is not seeing the print job.Â

One was for the Time Machine/AirPort and the rest for the iMac. The computer would not restart after the updates. After spending the weekend reinstalling the system software and rebuilding the whole computer I went to restore from the Time Machine (but no!) and the Mac no longer communicated with the printer wirelessly. I think I figure out the Time Machine thing but I cannot print wirelessly even though the Mac says the printer is installed. I have a Brother MFC-J825DW?

Everytime I go to print an e-mail in Mail 5.2 or Safari 5.1.5 on Mac OS 10.7.3 on my Mac Book Pro 15 inch 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7, the beach ball comes up and spins for approximately 1 minute and 25 seconds.  After this time, the print dialgoue box comes up. It prints immediately after I press print in the print dialogue box. This issue happens only with these two programs, regardless of any printer I use to print. I have reset the printer system, I have rebuild the mail. I have called Apple, which led to a developer support, submitting the info, etc, but have not heard back from them. Printing is fine from all other applications, including Parallels running Windows and Quickbooks running on Windows.Â

Printing is a hassle from Autocad with my MAC OS. In WinXP, (prior to switching to MAC) I could assign a paper size to each printer in printer set up. Then when printing from AutoCAD I would just select the print I wanted for the paper size and done..... perfect!Â
However, in Mac with Parrallels AutoCAD does not really talk correctly through to the printers on the Mac side. So I have to go into Lion printer settings and change the paper size all the time between tabloid and US letter. I always forget and waste a lot of paper.Â
Looking for a way to set a Lion OS printer to a specific paper size and have it maintain that paper size while a different printer has a differenet paper size, but this doesn't seem possible.Â
Every time I change the paper size in the Lion OS for one printer it changes it for all printers.Â

In System Preferences > Print & Scan, double-click a printer and click on the Printer Setup button. Under the General tab, in Snow Leopard it used to list the printing protocol / url used to connect to a printer. In Lion it doesn't show that information anymore. Is there a way to still find out what protocol the print queue is trying to print via?Â
