May 25, 2009Due to my fingers tripping over themselves I accidentally double clicked and opened a bunch of stuff, about 50 files in all. Annoying but doable to manually close them. However, suppose I had accidentally opened 500 or 5,000 or 50,000? Hopefully I wont ever do this , but if I did Is there a way to get back to a 'clean' screen by killing these, perhaps even 'kill everything that opened in the last 5 minutes', or is logoff or even a restart the only realistic way

I tried to restart my mac book and holing ALT key and I tried to restart in OS X by- right Click on boot camp, I Can not find Mac OS XI find it strange when I open boot Camp Control Panel I can not see Mac OS X in "select the system you want to use to start up your computer".
When I was installing Windows 7- I deleted some partition Disk, is this the causing an issue??
If this is causing an issue is there an alternative or someway where I can log into my MAC OS X back.

Safari :: Unable To Switch Off?
Apr 28, 2012i opened a page which should have allowed me to download a mock TOCFL exam (that's the standardized Chinese exam in Taiwan), but instead i just got a page of gibberish and since then skype won't let me close it, also while closing tabs there's no longer an x to click, instead i have to right click and then close it that way. anyone know what's going on here? also since safari won't switch off, i have no way of trying to deinstall and then reinstall it...

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Switch Off Versions In Safari?
Apr 10, 2012I'm trying to switch off 'Versions' in Safari on my mother's MacBook Pro because she's frustrated that Safari doesn't open on her homepage every time she launches it but instead re-opens the windows / tabs from her last session.
Does anyone know how to launch the alert box that lets you untick the option for Safari to 'remember' your windows / tabs from your last session?
(I even tried shutting down to see if the alert box would appear but it didn't.)
Just FYI - solutions I've already suggested to her are:
• Close all open tabs and windows before quitting Safari - so it *opens to her homepage on launch, (*she insists that doesn't always work though. Has anyone here experienced that?)
• Alternatively, open Safari Preferences and choose to make each new tab open on her homepage as well as new windows, (but she doesn't want to do that.)

Applications :: Safari Add Ons - Contemplating Switch From Firefox?
Feb 3, 2009Here are the issues that I'm having with firefox:
- Some embedded videos don't play at all
- I get error messages before and after some embedded videos
- Flip 4 Mac doesn't work properly (buttons disappear - so frustrating!)
- Really slow start up (compared to other browsers)
I have none of these issues when I visit the exact same websites using Safari. Now, I have a few reasons why I'm hesitant to switch:
- Add-ons (Foxmarks, Ad-Block, Customize Google, WOT, etc.)
- Custom Search Bars (top right)
- Ease, simplicity, and control
With that said, are there any equivalent Add-Ons for Safari (I know there is an Ad-Block one)? What about custom search bars? And finally, is there a way to view pdf files in Safari without having to download the file first?

I am so used the to CMD shortcuts, and hate having to move my finger to CTRLI downloaded a program to edit the registry, but it didn't change the command key, just the control key. So I had two keys that were assigned to the left command button. I cannot remember the name of the program for the life of me.

And I love the new task bar. Since it's a new installation (on a better computer, too) it seems even faster than XP and even OS X. So now that many of you have had experience with the beta, do you think the final product will be enough to make you switch back to Windows? Feb 28, 2009When I moved from Windows to MacOS, I tried to find MacOS applications to replace the ones I used on Windows (just like everybody). The more I tried, the more I found out that I should go for apps designed specifically for the MacOS, as they were more streamlined than the ones made for Windows and then converted to the MacOS.
Anyway, I found out some truly useful MacOS apps and which have great functionality. Some of these apps have features which are not shared by any Windows apps (or at least it seems to me).
If I were to go back to Windows (just to make it clear: I'm not), would I be able to replace the MacOS apps I use with Windows apps with the same or similar functionality? I'd like to make this a kind of game in order to find out which MacOS apps are non-replaceable killer apps.r own apps to the list.
Windows On Mac :: Can't Switch Back From Boot Camp
Aug 15, 2009I installed Windows on Boot Camp, but the Application Install DVD is blank. To replace the DVD I have to drive 2-3 hours to an apple store or apple will send me one for $17. Is there a way I can get back to the Mac and delete the Boot Camp partition? The tool in control panel is not there because I could not use the Application istall DVD.

Jan 22, 2010I'm a multitasker, like many others out there. When I surf I like having many tabs open in my browser. My browser of choice is Firefox due to one single reason: Firefox allows quick switching between tabs using CMD + # (nr.). If I want to jump to the fifth tab in Firefox I simply press CMD + 5.
In Safari this key combination opens the fifth bookmark in my bookmark bar.
Question:
Is there a way to "quick switch" between tabs in Safari other than CMD + SHIFT + ARROW LEFT/RIGHT (which gets stuck in text field etc.)?
Safari is otherwise quicker than Firefox on my Mac, so the decision to only run Safari would be obvious if it wasn't for this small thing.
Does anyone have a good solution out there?
OS X Mavericks :: Safari Causing Heat And Excessive Fan Use - Had To Switch To Chrome
Aug 20, 2014Lately, every time I open Safari the computer heats up and the fan blows continuously. This doesn't happen for Chrome, so I've had to use Chrome exclusively lately.
In Activity Monitor, Safari Networking has an energy impact of 100 and Average Energy Impact of 77, which Safari has an Average Energy Impact of 162. Chrome is at 11.
