Mar 27, 2012Simple question: Why suddenly can't Safari display photos and images on websites? Chrome works fine, as does Firefox.

Feb 5, 2007There are a couple of websites which I belive have pictures/images or something and it just shows a small blue question mark and you cannot do anything on that webpage. I looked on the pference and the display images is checked. So I don't know why it is hapenning. It sometimes says undefined.

Mar 15, 2012I have a dynamically generated PDF that contains a 300 dpi image. The image added can be one of several that the user selects. On all other browsers the pdf renders fine. On Safari only, seemingly in all modern flavors of OSx and Safari, the images begin to print and then stops printing the actual image and grey is printed in the remaining space the image would take up. To make it more fun one of the images renders fine. It is the 3rd smallest image and the 2 smaller ones do not render so it does not seem to be size related.
This is a screenshot to use as an example: The folding instructions graphic is also 300dpi.

Mar 14, 2012Websites such as My Excite are not displaying correctly since the Sfari 5.1.4 update. They are fine in Firefox, Google Chrome and Opera are working fine and displaying sites correctly.

There are no images and the formatting of the pages are completely out. I am using Firefox and have tried Safari so thats not the problem. Windows and Pcs are fine threw the same wireless lan & internet connection.

Sep 26, 2010I am an artist and I photograph my own work for uploading images to my website and/or sending them to galleries and prospective buyers, which means I need to be able to adjust the size and resolution easily and store several versions of the same image. Iphoto just isn't cutting it. I used an old version of photoshop elements on my old PC which did the trick, but now that I've switched to a Mac I'd like to purchase/download some newer and cheaper or free(!) software. I am tech impaired so it has to be very user friendly. It must allow me to adjust the size and res easily. The only forum I've seen so far regarding this dates back to 08, so I figure there's got to be something even better out there now that I can use.

Jan 27, 2009When I Upgraded to iLife 08 from 06 it trashed my iweb files and all my websites had to be rebuilt. I now have an huge photo library, lots more websites and am worried that upgrading with all my photos etc on my mac might kill or lose my data. Has anyone had any problems upgrading in this fashion or should I be ok to just jump in? I cannot afford to lose my websites and photos right now!

May 12, 2012I am unable to now download and save a PDF file from a website.I get either a blank window when I click on the PDF file link, or a message during the attempt to save that reads "The document “filename.pdf” could not be exported as filename.pdf."I am also unable to print the file from a website or save as a PDF.This problem is a recent development, occurring in both OS X 10.7.3 and 10.7.4 on my MacBook.It occurs in both Safari 5.1.6 and Firefox 4.0.1. Since it occurs on more than one browser, I'm pointing towards the OS. I use Adobe Reader 10.1.3.The problem does not occur on my MacBook Pro using OS X 10.6.8, using an older version of Safari.
I just updated from X 10.7.3 to 10.7.4 but with no results.I uninstalled Reader and reinstalled. Same results.Reader opens other PDF files on my hard drive with no difficulty.

May 1, 2009Certain websites I try to access are unable to display. They give me the "standard" cannot connect to the server error. [URL]. Other computers in the house operating on the same wireless connection can access these sites fine... so I think something is mis-configured on my machine somehow. I heard about people having issues with screens going blank, so I went ahead and followed Apple's instructions on the matter. I put the files they said on an SD card and started into the Windows installer. But after about two screens, it says, "Windows could not display the images available for installation." Then my computer restarts.

May 11, 2008I have three computers on my home network; A dual 1.8 G5 with Leopard, a Macbook Pro with Leopard, and a Windows XP Box. My problem with Safari started about 3 months ago, when I tried accessing a website via my g5. Safari said it could not connect to the server. I assumed the site was down. However, I hopped on my MBP and the site worked fine. In fact, I found a lot of sites that my G5 didn't want to access that my MBP could, on the same network. I have flushed my DNS cache, reset safari, cleared safari's cache, reset my router, cable modem, checked the DNS servers. Everything seems identical between the MBP and the g5. The problem happens in both Safari and Firefox

Oct 1, 2009MacBook hangs on certain websites (yahoo mail, cbs sports, mens fraternity) but only from one of my wireless networks. PC works flawlessly on this situation and macbook works flawlessly on my first wireless router so the problem is tied to the interaction between my Macbook and the second wireless router. I've searched the forums and tried many fixes already that have been posted here or elsewhere: Reset Safari (it then allows me to reach yahoo mail once, hangs on every try thereafter). Go to Safari preferences and uncheck the box for warning of fraudulent sites (no change) Go to advanced settings and input DNS numbers from my ISP (this solved the problem for some websites but not others) try firefox (same problem as safari) software update everything (no help) install onyx (about to do that). network is a DSL modem connected to the first wireless router (DLINK N+). Second wireless router is linksys G (the problem child) and it is hardwire connected to first wireless router.

We need them to appear as some are links to web sites and we don't know which "?" to click on! We have ticked / checked the box called: "Display Remote Images in HTML messages" but note it says underneath: "Remote images require additional network access to display". We wonder whether we may have disabled the 'additional network access' somewhere. Do you have any idea why the images are not displaying? (They used to display OK but have recently stopped doing so.)

Jun 4, 2012Mail 5.2 (OS 10.7.4) no longer displays embedded images. This happened after I installed an AirportExtreme wireless router. I can send images as attachments, but received mail with images displays blue box with ?. Using "download image" has no effect. Mail/preferences/ has " Display remote images in HTML messages" checked. The answers to similar questions don't seem to apply, or I just don't understand them.

OS X Yosemite :: Messages Won't Display Images / Sandbox Violation?
Dec 7, 2014when I receive an iMessage that contains a photo or other image, Messages on Yosemite won't display the image? It appears to be a sandbox permissions issue.
Briefly, when I receive an iMessage that contains any image, the image displays just fine on my iOS devices, but in OS X Yosemite (10.10.1, build 14B25), it just shows up as a generic icon (attached at the bottom of this question). Clicking the icon or magnifying glass doesn't load it, double-clicking it doesn't load it, Quick View won't show it... nothing. If I look in /var/logs/system.log, any attempt to view it generates sandbox-related errors:
Messages[30820]: [Warning] Transfer: unable to create image for IMG_2758.JPG.jpeg
kernel[0]: Sandbox: Messages(30820) deny file-read-data /private/var/folders/7l/cn4n4k4n4p31ncqq9qqk1klrydkmkm/T/IMG_2758.JPG.jpeg
If I manually open up that directory (/private/var/folders/7l/cn4n4k4n4p31ncqq9qqk1klrydkmkm/T/) I can see the image and open it myself, but Messages can't do it... and I can't for the life of me figure out how Messages's sandbox is configured and what is going on here.
This all happened when I upgraded to Yosemite; prior to Yosemite, everything worked fine. I've tried to blow away /private/var/folders/7l/ and let it get rebuilt, to no avail. I've also hunted for Messages's sandbox config file, to no avail.
