Safari :: Can't Login To Websites?
May 14, 2012Since the latest upgrade to 10.7.4 and OS 5.1.1 I can't login to certain websites. The error message reads "too many redirects..." how can I change this?

OS X :: Cannot Connect To FTP - No Login To Websites From Firefox
Jul 28, 2009One day I could log in to any site using firefox, the next I couldn't log into anything. I type the password and username, when I click on "log in" nothing happens. It says "done" at the bottom left, but nothing has happened. Safari works fine. I would just get by, however after creating a website in IWeb I discovered anything FTP related will not work.
I have tried lots of different FTP clients such as (Transmit, cyber duck, firezilla, cross ftp) but nothing works. The passwords etc are all correct as they work on my mac at work. The only change I've made is installing little snitch, however nothing is restricted related with anything that would affect the current problem. I have tried usual suspects such as deleting cookie, erasing private data etc.

Apr 3, 2012I am helping a developer add content to sites, that run on Visual Expressions CMS and Magento CMS. I cannot login using the Super Admin login, even though my partner with a MBP can...Seems to be my hardware/software. Ive tried using Chrome, Firefox, Safari & even Opera (clearing cache as well). Does this sound like a familiar or know issue/fix, that would help me tremendously.

Feb 11, 2012I am trying to get one password for all of my online passwords. Currently I just use the same password for all of my logins, but I was told that was a terrible idea. I would like to get keychain to create randomized passwords for all of my online logins and then I can simply enter the one keychain password everytime that i need login to something online. So I guess my goal would be for Keychain to act as the middleman, does it have that function?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Freezes While Filling Out Login Form To Websites
Apr 15, 2012I've been experiencing this for over a month now. Basically, occasionally when logging into a website (i.e. google, designers.mx, amazon, etc. -- really doesn't matter what site it seems), Lion will entirely freeze up for seconds to up to minutes. More specifically it occurs when tabbing from the username to the password field. This will happen both in Chrome and Firefox. I had thought it was related to maybe firefox add-ons (i.e. I have 1password, but i've disabled them and have had it still happen. I do use firebug, but wouldn't think it was related to this issue..I've already verified there are no issues in the keychain access as well.I can sometimes unfreeze momentarily it by pressing the power button briefly.

OS X :: Unable To Auto-login To Guest Account / Safari Wants To Use Keychain Login
Jan 6, 2009I work for a company that has several Macs available for customers' use. These are basically demo-machines that they can play with, and at the end of each day, the machines are wiped and rebooted.
The way we do this is simple: the machines auto-login to the Guest account, which will wipe the account at the end of the day. Well, getting a few new Macs in this week, I simply copied over the entire Guest user account to the new machines to avoid reloading all the demo content, preferences, etc. And truthfully, the machines have been working great.
Except one thing. The computer keeps giving me that annoying message that says "Safari (or Finder, or System Preferences, or anything!) wants to use keychain 'login'". And asks for the login keychain password. Well here's the thing: the Guest accounts don't have passwords!
So I looked up a little bit on this topic, and did things like... Went to "Keychain List" in the Edit menu of Keychain Access, and deleted both the "login" and "system" keychains. No help. I went to Preferences in Keychain Access and said "Reset My Keychain". When doing this, however, it asks for the new password for the login keychain.
The problem with this is that I cannot leave the field blank! The Guest account doesn't have a password, so how am I supposed to not create a password?

May 11, 2008I have three computers on my home network; A dual 1.8 G5 with Leopard, a Macbook Pro with Leopard, and a Windows XP Box. My problem with Safari started about 3 months ago, when I tried accessing a website via my g5. Safari said it could not connect to the server. I assumed the site was down. However, I hopped on my MBP and the site worked fine. In fact, I found a lot of sites that my G5 didn't want to access that my MBP could, on the same network. I have flushed my DNS cache, reset safari, cleared safari's cache, reset my router, cable modem, checked the DNS servers. Everything seems identical between the MBP and the g5. The problem happens in both Safari and Firefox

Oct 1, 2009MacBook hangs on certain websites (yahoo mail, cbs sports, mens fraternity) but only from one of my wireless networks. PC works flawlessly on this situation and macbook works flawlessly on my first wireless router so the problem is tied to the interaction between my Macbook and the second wireless router. I've searched the forums and tried many fixes already that have been posted here or elsewhere: Reset Safari (it then allows me to reach yahoo mail once, hangs on every try thereafter). Go to Safari preferences and uncheck the box for warning of fraudulent sites (no change) Go to advanced settings and input DNS numbers from my ISP (this solved the problem for some websites but not others) try firefox (same problem as safari) software update everything (no help) install onyx (about to do that). network is a DSL modem connected to the first wireless router (DLINK N+). Second wireless router is linksys G (the problem child) and it is hardwire connected to first wireless router.

Jan 5, 2010so I've had my MacBook for over a year, and I've never had any issues like this before. On my personal account, Safari, FireFox, Opera, and the like cannot access [URL], [URL](or any variation that leads to the same site), any other Google-based websites, my school's online gradebook, nor will it allow me to log into my Yahoo! account, though i can still search on yahoo. I can use the Google search bar at the top of my safari window just fine, but not [URL], as mentioned before.

Feb 25, 2010This has just recently started happening...when I type in a web address such as [URL] it will pop up and then disappear to a blank screen or some other websites just come up blank....does anyone know how I can fix this. My friend just started a new company and I can't even look at her site because it comes up a white blank screen and apparently I am the only who is having this problem. I have reset Safari and even clean up my hard drive with Onyx. Please help!!! Also, I have seen other post regarding this problem and I have clicked on the links for software for parasites but they all seem to be for Windows. I am running Safari on a Macbook 10.4.11

Sep 24, 2010Today (in the latest version of Safari, of course) I repeatedly tried to fill out a captcha form, and later a password form on different website. Both forms went through fine in Firefox. Is this a common problem or will I have to experiment with deleting preferences, etc.?
Also: I tried a login at another website, which worked fine. But the captcha and the other password form refuse to work.

I would like to know if it's possible to add additional websites to that list. So, for instance, would it be possible to add Wikipedia to that drop-down list? If so, how? Will I be able to do this when the Extension Gallery goes live, sometime later this summer?
Essentially, I want Safari 5 to behave like Firefox/MyCroft and allow me to customize/manage the search list myself. I would never search Yahoo! or Bing, so I'd like to replace those with something a little more useful.
Applications :: Safari Won't Open Certain Websites?
Aug 7, 2010My Uncle just purchased a new Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard and he is having trouble accessing certain sites such as [URL] but has no problem accessing other sites like Apple or Google from Safari.
I tried to troubleshooting the issue by resetting Safari and by deleting the com.apple.safari.plist preference file in his home directory but he still has the problem.
I'm not sure if it is related, but I had to have him change the port from 5190 to 443 in iChat in order to connect to his AIM account so I could screen-share with him.
Also, he uses AOL mail and I was able to get it set up in Apple Mail but it is very sluggish to download.
He is using either Cisco or Linksys router and range extender and he said that his Windows computers have no problems connecting to any sites.

Mar 19, 2012So far, I have noticed that in Safari 5.1.4 Google maps doesn't work correctly. Whenever I enter directions from and to locations, the site just sits there "Loading." It works perfectly fine in Firefox on the same account on (and running while Safari is). Also, a random error is on TrueAchievements.com, everytime I go to update my status, I get a little box that says something went wrong. Again, it works perfectly fine in Firefox running side-by-side. I haven't run across any other problems, but it wouldn't surprise me if I do at some point. I have tried disabling extensions, just in case, but that solved nothing. Is this version of Safari just broken or is there anything I can do?

I've asked about 5 other people to see if they could open it up on a mac using Safari. So far, everyone can open it except for my client. The site is created with wordpress. It's not redirecting. Â
I'm really not sure which Mac they have or their operating system. I just chose two so that I could submit this ticket. Â
What in the world would stop them from being able to see the site? They can go to other sites.Â

Sep 2, 2010I need a plug-in/add-on/application that will block certain websites I want at certain times. For example, block Youtube and Facebook from 4-6PM. Preferably these settings would be difficult or impossible to change once in place, haha. I want to be strict and not let myself procrastinate during the upcoming school year and I think this is the only way to actually do it.

Dec 12, 2007Just got my first Mac (24 inch iMac) a couple of weeks ago and overall, I am quite happy. Like it all except for the Mouse (more on that later). I have had a couple of bizarre issues with Safari that I would like some feedback on.
1. Twice in the last two weeks, Safari has gotten itself in a state where it simply will not display certain web pages. For example, the last time, it complained that it could not find google. Other sites displayed fine. The site wasn't down. Firefox had no problems accessing it. Clearing the cache and a complete reset did not help.In the end, I actually had to reboot before Safari started finding google again.
2. I have had some problems getting Safari to accept proxy settings. I often VPN into work and during that period, I have to turn proxies on and once I disconnect, I turn proxies off. I noticed that I have to do things in a certain specific order for Safari to pick up the proxy changes. I first have to turn the proxies on, then connect with VPN and once I am done, I have to turn the proxies off and then disconnect. If I don't do things in that order, Safari behaves as though the change in proxy settings was not made at all.
I tried Apple tech support but I got a rather clueless individual on the other end of the line and I spent an hour plus with her trying all sorts of things that accomplished precisely nothing.This was a brand new iMac with just a Cisco VPN, Firefox and a VNC client installed on it - so I thought some of my problems would be rather easily reproducible.
That apart, I have enjoyed the experience. Pretty much everything else worked like a charm except for the mouse which I already detest. I'll spare you my litany of complaints on that but I am replacing it in short order - probably with a Logitech MX400.
IMac :: Certain Websites Will Make Safari Freeze
Apr 16, 2009just got my imac last week and i am using a wifi router (netgear) to connect to the internet. certain websites will make safari freeze. i can still quit safari, but once i try to open it up again it cannot connect. i check my network preferences and it finds my network, i try to connect but no luck. i know ive got the right password and everything, and once i restart the machine it automatically finds and connects to my network and im good to go again until it freezes and i go through the process again. ive called apple and gotten no working solution. they told me to reset safari and clear caches which i have done and that hasnt helped. looking for any advice you've got. also, i was thinking about picking up an airport router. could that possibly solve my problem? is it possible that the imac doesnt communicate well with the netgear router?

Apr 27, 2004I have been using Safari faithfully since it was released, and in the last week it has developed a strange problem. I can't recall doing anything different that would have caused this problem, but now whenever I try to load a secure website (https), I get the error message "Safari could not load the page https:xxxx because it could not connect to the server." I have tried resetting Safari, but that didn't fix the problem. I have also thrown away the following files (Safari_1.2.pkg, Safari (folder), Safari (application), and com.apple.Safari.plist) and reinstalling a new version of Safari, also without success. I should add that Internet Explorer will always load the pages that choke Safari, but I hate using this program. Has anyone ever heard of this before, and does anyone know how to fix it?
