Safari :: Password For New Modem Not Opening Config Page?
Mar 19, 2012
New ADSL Modem/Router from ISP.A Zyxel P-660HN-T1A_1Pv6 Only wanted the modem function as I use Time Capsule and an Airport Express to extend the signal. On bringing up the modem web page and login box for device configuration, my password is not accepted using Safari ( My default browser)I have managed a successful login with Firefox(on adjusting permissions) and immediately with Opera and Google Chrome.I use "wireless"off and the Open DNS servers, but the login failed initially while showing my ISP's DNS addresses To add to the confusion, a friend who was visiting today with his laptop was able to access my device configuration with his Safari (which he doesn't use usually)Â I am left with the conclusion that there is something in my Safari setup which is blocking the browser from accepting the password. For the life of me I can't identify it and other than checking others' setups I don't know where to go from here.

When I open Safari 5.1.5 it opens the last page I was in previously, not my designated homepage, which I would prefer. I looked in Preferences to change it, but to no avail. Upgraded to Lion yesterday.

After difficult migration from old Mac Book to Mac Book Pro 13 iCloud image site doesn't appear anymore on my Safari opening page (topsites)
It is not so important because the link already function when I click in the black page. But disturbing. All over pages in topsites have their image right there.

I seem to be having a hell of a time with all google related things. About 50% of the time I can't get to the google search page and get the error message Safari can't open the page [URL] because Safari can't connect to the server. When I am able to get into gmail, I am constantly being disconnected from gchat, like every 5 minutes. When it disconnects, it will try to reconnect, most of the time unsuccessfully. I then get the error message, unable to reach gmail please check your internet connection. This happens no matter what browser I use. However, when I try to connect from my husband's PC (same network), everything is fine. I've tried emptying my safari cache, tried uninstalling and re-installing both safari and firefox, and I am out of ideas. Any ideas about what is going on, and how I might fix this issue. I searched through the google help, and there were similar problems posted (none recently), but no answers on how to solve the issue. This has been going on for about a week now, and it's driving me up a wall.

I currently run Safari 5.1.6 on an iMac with OS X 10.7.4 and no matter which page I designate as my Home Page, Safari ignores this and on start-up always opens the last page I was on.

I am having a problem with getting on the internet through my wireless modem using my MacBook--it's an older laptop: OSX 10.5.8-- without entering the WEP password each time. I have checked the box for the coputer to remember the password, but it's not working. I was able to seamlessly go onto the internet in the past--then this started happening-

I do a lot of editing of text docs and every time I open TextEdit it opens a new doc when I want to just open the doc I'm after. Then I have to close both of them. This gets annoying when editing several docs. Is there any way to turn off the new doc? I don't see that option in the menu or preferences.

using my white macbook, everytime i fire up safari it opens the last webpage that i visited, eg facebook or the login page of my bank account.
i have checked in preferences pane - ensured that the new windows and new tabs open with "homepage" and set the homepage field to [URL]( i even manually typed it in and selected "set to current page" to make sure it was ok ). then i go onto facebook, quit safari, re-open it and .. it's the facebook page again!Â
i reset safari and this has no effect. it didnt always used to be like this, just recently.
ps - so i used no capital letters, i broke my shoulder last week

I'm selling my trusty G4 Powerbook and have a quick question about keychains. I erased my entire drive & reloaded all software. I had to log into my airport express to finish the installation and make sure all my software was as current as could be for the new owner. Somehow my keychain got populated with my password for the airport express and would like to know if I delete it from the keychain access page - is this securly deleted or could the new owner retrive it if he wantd to?

Is there any sort of "bridge" software that allows a terminal emulation program, say, Z-Term, to use Skype as a modem? It seems silly to pay for connections to BBS's when I've got SkypeOut, but I haven't been able to find a way to do this.

How can I make it so when one opens up my Macbook physically. It asks for LOGIN/PASSWORD. Right now I have it so it asks for password on startup of the OS, so yeah I basically want it - to ask for password when someone opens up the macbook.

I don't want just anyone to have immediate access to my gallery via my iWeb site. Ideally I'd like my entire Mobile Me gallery to be password protected. I had a look at password protecting individual albums but that's just a horrible implementation, each album just comes up as a grey thumbnail in the albums view even if you enter login details. I thought an alternative (although far less secure) would be to have the link to the mobile me gallery on a password protected iWeb page as part of my iWeb site but I can't find any options to let me password protect just one page.
Am I right in assuming that Web Gallery only supports password protecting of individual items whereas Apple have gone the opposite route with iWeb where you can only password protect your entire site? If that's the case then it seems like they're really trying to make things hard for us!

I'm working on a Mac-mini running OS X Tiger. I've got one admin account setup and 5 or so standard accounts. I'm configuring a connection to a shared folder on a network server on the standard accounts and I wanted to connect to that share using an account id that is DIFFERENT than the standard account id. I enter that id and the correct password and I check "save password in keychain" (or whatever that check box says) and I get prompted to enter the "keychain password" to unlock the keychain. The problem is, I never setup a keychain password for the standard user account. I'v tried the password for the administrator account (even though I can't specify the admin id anywhere) and I've tried the password for the standard user account, neither of which work.
However, I can still get successfully connected to the shared folder. I just don't want the user to have to enter the password each time they login.
Additionally, after going through this, Safari is now asking for a keychain password for the "login" keychain when it first starts up and loads the default Apple.com home page.
