Every once and a while my fianc�e's computer will ask for the keychain password while using Safari. As she has forgotten the password everytime she just has to hit cancel. is there a way to reset this

Safari keeps giving me popup windows saying a keychain can't be found. It's only just started doing this but it's really annoying. Could it have anything to do with the fact I installed a new flash player? That's the only difference I can think of.Also on another computer it keeps asking for a password to access the keychain. It only does this on one user account though. Any assistance is gladly accepted!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to uninstall Virex 7.5. I have got the Terminal uninstall command which opens Terminal. So far, so good. However, Terminal is asking me for my admin password but it's not allowing me to enter it. The cursor is not blinking it's just a solid black oblong - just bl**dy sitting there! Absolutely no response to any key except the enter key - then terminal helpfully says, 'Sorry, try again' What's going on? I just wanna get rid of Virex!!!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a Mac-mini running OS X Tiger. I've got one admin account setup and 5 or so standard accounts. I'm configuring a connection to a shared folder on a network server on the standard accounts and I wanted to connect to that share using an account id that is DIFFERENT than the standard account id. I enter that id and the correct password and I check "save password in keychain" (or whatever that check box says) and I get prompted to enter the "keychain password" to unlock the keychain. The problem is, I never setup a keychain password for the standard user account. I'v tried the password for the administrator account (even though I can't specify the admin id anywhere) and I've tried the password for the standard user account, neither of which work.
However, I can still get successfully connected to the shared folder. I just don't want the user to have to enter the password each time they login.
Additionally, after going through this, Safari is now asking for a keychain password for the "login" keychain when it first starts up and loads the default Apple.com home page.
Trying to connect to a server on work computer, but nobody knows the password. The person who knows it no longer works here. It is not saved in keychain. How can I recover the password?

My login.keychain password is not recognized anymore, i am very sure about the actual pwd string and I tried to restart apps and machine already, I believe the file got corrupted somehow, hence various applications such as FTP clients cannot autoconnect to external resources
I am bound to recover from a Timemachine backup, but all discussions are just dealing with recovering items in the keychain file once it is restored, what about the keychain master password? is it contained in the login.keychain file so that restoring that file to the HD will allow me to regain access to the saved items?

For the last week or so I've been having an increasingly regular problem with Mail. Upon launching, the app opens a dialog window saying, "Mail can't connect to the Google account 'Gmail'. Enter the password for user (username)." Then when I enter the password, the app crashes. Sometimes clicking the "Cancel" botton allows the app to open, but sometimes that results in a crash as well. Also, when I can launch Mail successfully, sometimes when I try to send mail, the outgoing mail will sit in the Outbox unsent. Â
I've been getting these warnings with both my Yahoo and Gmail accounts. Until a few days ago I was using Yahoo as my primary account, but the inability to send mail caused me to switch to Gmail as my primary. After a couple days of smooth sailing, I'm now getting the same errors with my Gmail.
it's a random thing, and it's happening to all 3 accounts I have in Mail. When it happens a box comes up and says that I need to enter the password. I have it stored to save and when the box comes up I click "remember my password" but it keeps coming up. it's not ever day, it's random.

i think this problem occured when i clicked force quit on finder and now i cannot retrieve finder. i am not a computer person so i don't know all the mac slang. any suggestions?

View 2 Replies View Relatedso, i have gotten everything all set up and up and running but one thing that i have noticed is my network connection disconnecting itself. every time i have closed i the lid it has diconnected itself from the network. i realize that it goes to sleep when that happens and it shouldnt be really doing anything in sleep mode. but im kinda p-o'ed at how when i open it up i need to re enter the networs pass word. is there a way that i can make it so that it automatically connects to the network when its opened/turned on? i checked the box that "saves the password as a keychain" what ever that means too.

If I just leave it blank like at login, it says the password is incorrect. I have to do is set up a password use it in Terminal then I remove it afterwards. This is very annoying. She doesnt remember ever setting a "keychain" password, and tried to type in the password that she uses to log into her macbook, but apparently it's not the same password. What can I do to get rid of this if she doesn't know the password? Can I delete and then reinstall Safari? Do I need to reformat and install the entire OSX? View 8 Replies View RelatedI used an external Windows formatted USB hard drive to transport my files from my old laptop to my new Black MacBook.
There are files I do not need, so on my MacBook I highlighted the files and directories and dragged them to the trash, a dialog box asked me for my password, I supplied it, then nothing happened, ie, it did not delete the files.
I am not sure what this means, and I want to delete the files.
I have a G4 450 OS 10.4.11 and when I went to restart it it asked for a password. I have used this system for a few years and this has never happened? I used my regular password and it worked but now every time I restart it, it asks me the same thing. What is also weird is that It says Powermac G3 above the password box. My system is a G4. I believe the drive came out of a G3 computer at one time but not sure how that relates. This has never happened before. I went to system preferences security tab and it does not show login is enabled at all. I did not do anything that I know of to cause this? How can I remove this login requirement and what does it mean that it says G3 when it is a G4?

It always worked, recently it says: Mail server rejected the password. this happens on my desktop powermac (tiger) and powerbook G4 (leopard). I cannot login into the iTunes-Store or iTunes-Account on my MacBook Pro. The following problem occures:
1) I type in the correct Apple-ID and password,
2) my Apple-ID appears in the left corner in iTunes - but nevertheless:
3) iTunes repeatedly asks for my password - again and again. I am absolutely sure that I typed in the correct password, because I also use the same Apple-ID + password on my iMac and everything is fine on the iMac (but not on my MacBook Pro).Â
Additional information:My girlfriend and me use the same mac + itunes to log in with each our Apple-IDs: The same problem for her on my MacBook. I already reinstalled the newest iTunes Version from apple.comOn my iMac everything works fine (with both accounts).Â

I am trying to connect my Mac Pro to a wireless network which has no security settings. Other Macs in the house connect to the network with no problem, but the Mac Pro doesn't. I am setting up a new network as I have moved house. In the previous house the wireless worked fine on the Mac Pro.
When I click on the Airport Icon in the menu bar, the search wheel shows and it finds the network, but when I click on the name of the network typically it doesn't connect. Occasionally it does connect, and I briefly have internet access, but then the number of bars on the Airport Icon gradually reduce and then I can't connect again.
When I run Network Diagnostics from Safari, it finds the network also, but then typically asks for a WEP password for the Wireless Network when I haven't added any security to the network (occasionally it doesn't ask for a password and I can connect briefly)
I have tried resetting my Time Capsule and creating a new wireless network with a different name, but still experience the same issues.
I wonder if someone has any ideas as to what might be going on, and how I might be able to troubleshoot this.
When a user logs in, or tries to, it brings up Kerberos Agent and asks for a password. Anything you enter results in taking you back to the login screen? How do I disable this - all macs are running off of a Panther Server for login options.
