It takes a full minute to boot up my Macbook Pro 15.4".
I only have 2GB of RAM, but the CPU is a C2D @ 2.4Ghz. Should it take this long?
My MacBook Pro is running very slowly, sometimes more than a minute to open a webpage or access a link on the page. Using Safari and sometimes it freezes and the force quit window doesn't appear using option-command-escape. Then only holding down the power button shuts down the computer.Â

Had my 2.16 ghz Intel Core 2 Duo 21" for two years. Installed software to monitor temperature, etc. The computer reads 90 degrees when I turn it on and up to 125 degrees after an hour or two.
Another issue, when I turn it on, it takes about one minute for all the items to appear on the desktop and before I can open Safari, Word, etc. (is this a long time??). During this time there is a very repetitive soft clicking sound coming from from the computer, (as if things are opening or being shuffled around?).History: I had Microsoft Office installed but removed it some time ago. Only 10 gb free on the 250 gb hardrive.
Microsoft on Monday announced plans to begin widespread testing of a new version of its market-leading productivity suite for Windows PCs that will tie into a series of new Web-based Office applications similar to those offered by rival Google.
Presenting at its Worldwide Partner Conference 2009, the Redmond, Wash.-based software giant said it will soon invite tens of thousands of customers to start testing Microsoft Office 2010, which features broadcast and video editing in PowerPoint, new data visualization capabilities in Excel, and co-authoring in Word.
As part of the announcement, Microsoft also said it plans to take Office online, with a new series of free Office Web applications aimed at combating the encroachment on its space by arch rival Google, whose online document and spreadsheet applications have been growing in popularity.
The ad-supported web suite will reportedly be available to more than 400 million Windows Live consumers at no cost. It will also be accessible on-premises for all Office volume licensing customers and via Microsoft Online Services, where customers will be able to purchase a subscription as part of a hosted offering.
"Office Web Applications, the online companion to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote applications, allow you to access documents from anywhere. You can even simultaneously share and work on documents with others online," Microsoft says on its Office 2010 Technical Preview site. "View documents across PCs, mobile phones, and the Web without compromising document fidelity. Create new documents and do basic editing using the familiar Office interface."
Microsoft, which also announced that it is streamlining the number of Office editions from eight to five, said customers will be able to purchase the new suite sometime in the first half of next year. The company made no announcements related to future versions of Office for the Mac, which will more than likely also tie into the new Web-based suite once it materializes. [URL]

I can't figure out why Safari crashes after about a minute after launch. It doesn't crash when I log in as another user. I deleted the plist files, and the cache, but it doesn't help. I uninstalled Safari 4 and it crashed immediately on launch with Safari 3. I reinstalled Safari 4, and it once again crashed after about a minute. I deleted everything in ~/Library/Safari. I repaired permissions. It still crashes. Firefox works flawlessly.
What should I do next? This is the first time in about 10 years that I can't seem to diagnose a problem on my mac. Very frustrating. Does someone have any idea what I should do next?
I can't use Safari as my browser for an on-line training program. What other browser can I use and how do I get it?

I've had my macbook pro for about a month. Its everything you read about when you make the switch. Great build, screen, keyboard, stable, ease of use. Everything...except internet surfing. It's a big disappointment. I spend a lot of time waiting for pages to load..or getting the safari can't open message. (When I refresh this page I often will get the page to pop right up.)
I loaded a plug in recommended in the site "my first mac"...but no difference. I loaded firefox but get the same results. My 3 year old sempron dell inspiron and my wifes new Dell studio 17 both kick the macbook pro's butt in surfing so i don't believe its my home network. I have gone to the genius bar and they did some minor stuff but I have the same issues still.
While I'm in safari and I try to watch certain videos or play online games it says missing plug-in

When attempting to transfer money between accounts at my bank I click the Submit button and get the error: "The page must be fully loaded before this form is submitted." There is no error number or code given. The message is apparently generated by my bank's web server. The page is fully loaded. I don't get this error when I use IE on my XP PC unless the page is really not fully loaded.
View 1 Replies View Relatedwhen I first purchased my Macbook (around 5 months ago) Safari would load in 3 bounces or less. But now when I try to use it I have to wait around as it takes 20-27 bounces before it finally starts up and begins loading a home page. My OSX version is v10.5.6 Safari is v3.2.1 So far I have RSS set to never update and have used the "reset Safari" option in the main Safari menu. But sadly I'm seeing no results in start up speed increase.

When I try to open a pdf online, I get a black screen with the address showing at the top of the window (where it should be). I can open pdfs on my iMac with no problem. I can also open the online pdfs with FireFox without a problem. I think this started happening after I installed the latest version of Adobe Reader. I'm running 10.6.8.

I've got safari 4 on 3 different mac's all running leopard with latest updates.
When browsing the web randomly it decides to take ages loading a page even sites like google. To make it load I have to stop it then press refresh.
I've tried unticking the fraudulent sites box and repairing permissions in disk utility, but i still get the same problem on all 3 mac's.
Anyone else here use Ally Bank in Safari? The purple bar winds up blocking account information and looks even more out of "alignment" on the account screens once logged in. When I adjust the size using the + and - adjustments, other page elements appear wrong. I have the most updated version of Safari (4.0.4) and OS X 10.6.2 on my iMac. (1680 X 1050) [URL].
View 6 Replies View RelatedUploading my site to my computer (also to my husband's iPhone -- the newest model) takes forever, the slide-show won't work most of the time -- as if it's frozen, clicking on individual images, does not work repeatedly. It is as if the sit has uploaded incorrectly. When I re-load (exit the site and attempt again) because the uploading icon is spinning, it takes, again, much too long and the problem is not corrected. Is there anything I can do? [URLs]
View 1 Replies View RelatedSafari crashes frequently while I'm streaming video online. When the error report message appears, I type a comment, and when I try to send the report to Apple, I get the message that the report cannot be sent at this time; try later. Later never works. It's like Safari has been prohibited from communicating to Apple.

Last week I downloaded the latest MAC OS and the latest Safari (beta) version as my Safari is extremely slow. Unfortunately this didn't solve the problem and it takes quite a long time to load pages from all sites that normally don't give any problems.
On my other computer (old Windows machine) this is working fine. This Windows computer as well as my MAC are connected via the same router to the internet, so that should not be the problem (I guess).
How can I find and solve the problem with the slow Safari?
Safari takes AGES to load pages and play videos!!! It takes 40 seconds to load the page the first time Safari is open (quit and open Safari or open after Mac reboot or cold boot) and 20 seconds to reload pages afterwards. Frustrating!!!
Firefox takes about 2 seconds, Chrome takes one second and Opera is real time. Latest versions of all in Mac OS X 10.6.8.

Three months ago I switched to a macbook pro after fifteen years of pc use at home and with my business. I was led down this path as a result of my iPhone use mainly. I wonder how many new recruits Apple have got through the iPhone platform?
