I've been attempting to use Quicktime to create screen recordings with sound so that I can send them to some people. I've found however that the files are very large, for example a 30 second recording takes up 250 MB even with 'Medium' sound.
I have the standard Quick time application that came with my Mac Book Pro. I need to do sreen recordings for help videos on my website. When I use the screen recording feature from Quck time they videos come out blurry.
I see that you can make video screen captures in Snow Leopard, using Quicktime Player's New Screen Movie feature. This is great for my needs, except for one thing: They're too big. It makes life-size recordings of my entire 1,900 x 1,200 screen, and the files seems to come out around 11 megabytes per minute of video. I don't see a way to resize the screen capture videos to a smaller size, in Quicktime Player. Is there a way?
When I am recording with the built in cam (isight) in imovie ("capturing" the video), there is no sound. I have gone through and looked at all input settings on the mac and in the application. when I pull up the settings box, I can even see the sound "bars" go up when I make noise. But no noise in the recordings.
I would like to use a small digital voice recorder throughout the day and download to my macpro /convert to print and file for later analysis. It is important that I can convert to print using software method and store sound and print along side each other (synced).
I was sent an e-mail with sound recordings attached. When I tried to open the sound recordings I got the message "Word cannot locate the server application for SoundRec objects". Do I need to download an application onto my imac G5,version 10.3.9, 1.8 Ghz?
Does the new Quicktime capture on screen video with sound? If not is there a way to do it? Other good reliable programs out there that do what I am looking for?
so i have a bunch of plugins installed, specifically flip4mac, but for some reason, all my .avi's must be played through VLC if i want sound. Anyone know of a solution to this?
With an influx of Dolby Digital enhanced HD content making its way to the iTunes store, and subsequently Apple TV, Apple is reportedly working on an update to QuickTime that will improve support for 5.1 channel audio. People familiar with the matter say the Cupertino-based electronics maker tapped its vast developer community on Tuesday to begin testing versions of QuickTime 7.6 for Windows, as well as both Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger and Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.
The pre-releases, which reportedly carried build number A26, ranged in size from about 20MB to over 60MB, but were consistent in that they delivered the same series of enhancements requiring evaluation. In particular, those familiar with the software say Apple has requested that developers test the release extensively with multi-channel encoded audio tracks that feed unique content to each surround sound channel. Developers were also asked to put some weight on MPEG-1 playback and conversions, as well as encoding and playback of audio tracks in the AAC and Apple Lossless formats.
QuickTime 7.6 is one of only a handful of remaining updates planned for Apple's existing QuickTime architecture before the company turns the majority of its focus to QuickTime X -- a complete overhaul to the media software with optimized support for modern audio and video formats that should result in extremely efficient playback.[URL]
I have this feeling that the forum veterans have likely heard this many many times. So if you have I apologize in advance, I've been hacking away at this for weeks off and on and haven't been able to find an answer. Also wasn't able to find a solution through searching. So... here we go. Issue is, no sound from .mov files on my PC. On my MacBook, the .mov files play just fine, and play just fine on the AppleTV. This is my main media computer, so I store all my movies here (I like VisualHub and ffmpegx much better than anything on Windows I've seen. If anyone has suggestions for Windows, I'm all ears). All my new movies and TV shows are stored on the MacBook, and every now and then I do a move of all that I've watched to here on the Windows desktop where I archive my favorites and keepers. The only problem, is that all my .mov files have zero sound when playing on the PC, though fine on my Mac. So far, I've tried:
- Re-installing everything Apple (even Bonjour) - Installing all Quicktime components suggested on the site (link) - installed CoreAAC-1.2.0.573 - installedK-Lite Codec Pack 4.4.2.0 - I also extracted the .aac to .wav to try another format.. the result was 2 hours of dead air - I also tried the trick with the new update for the AppleTV in inserting a sub 1 sec clip if an .ac3 file into the .mov - also no sound playing them through VLC
I have seen a couple posts about Quicktime for Windows unable to play HD vids, but a) not all my .mov are HD b) sounded like all the issues were video related.
Having difficulty with a .ram file. I want to convert it to use with Quicktime. I also have realised however that my pupil for a lesson (the file is for language-lesson) does not have a Mac anyway, so maybe she won't have Quicktime. I can ask her to download the latter then. how can I hear the soundfile and make it compatible with Quicktime?Â
I need help getting the correct CODECs in order to play video files. (mpeg-4,avi,wmv,divx,etc..) The video show up perfectly but audio doesn't. This happens normally with movies the I download.Â
I downloaded an .avi file and the sound won't play. It said the audio was in dolby ac3 code 8192 and I would need a plug-in. I tried converting to DivX and playing through Flip & that didn't work either. I tried placing the file in the library>audio>plug-in>component folder & that didn't work. There is no Quicktime folder to place it in.
im having a problem with sound when i play downloaded movies on quicktime. i have video but no sound.with ripped dvd i get sound and video same with original dvd.
Recently my Quicktime X audio has been sounding very strange, it sounds like its playing in a drain pipe... it has that compressed echo sound to it. I have tried deleting the app and even re installing OSX Lion but to no avail... the sound remains the same. All other video player apps work just fine and sound perfect. Also, does anyone else have a "preferences" tab for Quicktime. I no longer have one but im not sure if it ever did have one.Â
When I play movies using QuickTime player, I see the picture but hear no sound. The sound will appear for about two seconds and then cut off completely. I don't understand what is causing this problem and I have tried to update it with no avail.
I have lots of stuff recorded in local studios with various vocal quartets as well as stuff done on my 4 track and eight track recorders, my problem is that when I try to download them into iTunes (all now on CD) it does not see them as individual recordings (even when the album title and song info is on the original disc as in studio recordings and some of my home recorded stuff). The result is that I record the first album without a problem and give it a title, then, when I download the second album it simply adds it to the first, so that the first track of the second album starts with the next number after the last track of the first ie the last track of the first album is say 14, the first track of the second is 15.
More to the point I cannot give the second album it's own name and the only way to access it is bring up the first album and select track 15. I am sure this is because they are not 'Professional' recording even though they were made in pro studios, the titles do not appear in any search lists. Load my non commercial CDs into iTunes in such way that I can access them as individual recordings and not just a giant list of everything that I have recorded in my lifetime. For the record I might add that I think the whole iTunes programme is counter intuitive and a complete pain in the nether regions to navigate, but I will put up with it since it is one of very few things that get me down about my Mac Pro.
I have recordings made with the Smart Record Lite App. They are on my ipad and ipod. How do I go about transferring them to my iMac so I can upload them to YouTube?
Over the past few months I've taken to recording my weekly supervisor meetings because I've got such an awful memory that I'd forget everything otherwise. Ideally I'd like to have an app with which I can store these recordings but in which I can also add a text description so that if in the future I need to refer back, I know where to look. I'd just want something with a list showing:
28th August - Discussed conference, ideas about x, plan to run simulations varying y and z 4th September - Discussed work on writing w routine, discussed initial x results. I realise that chances are there's nothing simple enough to do this kind of thing for me and so I might have to resort to something far more bulky and so I'm open to options for more bulky things.
We just upgraded to LION 10.7.4 and I'm noticing on a few of my Quicktime movies - when paused, the screen turns green? THAT'S never happened before. I'm sure it's an upgrade issue, when I go back to our clone from last week, it doesn't do that! We use QT Pro 7.66. on a MacBook Pro (about 1 1/2 years old) - always perfect results, but now this? No big deal, just a little annoying. It only does this on a few of the movies we've exported out of Final Cut Pro. Can't find the pattern?Â
I want to make training videos. I still can zoom in while doing screen recording with Quicktime in my MacBookPro Lion. But when I played back, there's no zoom in in the movies.Â
I've tried to set the things in Universal Access-seeing-options- and tick 'use scrool keys modifier....' but still didn't work. Restarted the mbp, still didn't work.Â
