Jul 27, 2008im having a problem with sound when i play downloaded movies on quicktime. i have video but no sound.with ripped dvd i get sound and video same with original dvd.

QuickTime :: Downloaded An .avi File And The Sound Won't Play
May 25, 2012I downloaded an .avi file and the sound won't play. It said the audio was in dolby ac3 code 8192 and I would need a plug-in. I tried converting to DivX and playing through Flip & that didn't work either. I tried placing the file in the library>audio>plug-in>component folder & that didn't work. There is no Quicktime folder to place it in.

However, is Handbrake necessary to use simply to download movies onto my MBP that I will later watch solely on my computer (that is, not upload them onto my iPhone)? Or, is there software already pre-installed on my MBP that will allow me to download the movie (DVD) on my computer, without having to use Handbrake or like software? Dec 21, 2009I just downloaded iSubtitle, having seen it advertised on Apple's website...I bought it thinking it would be a good way to add external .SRT files to my iTunes purchased movies as my GF is Chinese and we like to watch movies together...fail...it is actually a brilliant little piece of software and it works wonderfully with any other kind of movie file apart from DRM encoded iTunes movies.
So what are my options? Is there a way to remove DRM from iTunes downloaded movies? Should I go back to buying physical DVD's and ripping them with Handbrake? Apple have really pissed me off here for the first time...It's not like I'm wanting to do anything illegal here, just watch iTunes purchased movies with my GF using subtitles that Apple are stupidly not offering in the first place.

Feb 2, 2012I have had this problem quite a while now:When I open an .avi file it automatically opens using QuickTime. I'd like that because it's the best player for Apple.The problem is however that I can only hear the sound, there's no image/video.I use 10.7.2. (now updating to 10.7.3), but it already did this before I had OSX Lion installed.If I search for new updates it doesn't come up with an update for QuickTime.Any other player works (although VLC's the only one I tried so far).
