View 6 RepliesCurrently have a playlist for all songs on my local HD. Is there a way for the playlist to automatically update and add/remove songs as I add/remove them from my "Music" folder? I'd rather have this automated than manually adding songs each time I download them.

So if Itunes plays and ARTIST then the Smart Playlist will refresh and extract all Songs with that artist.

I'd like to keep the order I put it in, not alphabetical. Thoughts?

Does iTunes update my Smart playlist with new songs each time I download it or do I have to manually update it myself?

Long time itunes user and have never had any issues creating a smart playlist untill recently. I have a large libary 16,500+, am a itunes match user, and do use icloud. For the last couple weeks any time i try to create a smart playlist the results are always empty. I have tried simple requests like artist contain so and so, genre is rock, time is over 1:00 etc etc and nothing will populate. Also if i edit and old smart playlist by adding another condition it wipes it out for example i have a playlist with rock songs if i add the condition to only have songs over 1 minute i get an empty set. I'm sure it is a simple solution but i can not figure out what i have done. Only major changes i have made recently are getting an ipad and joining itunes match other than that i have made no changes to my settings or network (at least that i know of).

How would I go about watching a .rar video using Quicktime? Or is there another program I should use?
View 10 Replies View RelatedAs the title says, Quicktime is not showing video, just audio. I have 7.6 and searched for updates but saw nothing. Speaking of updates; updates that require me to restart freeze up when items are being installed. This has happened twice now. The first day I got my MBP (1/21/09) and tonight.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a smart playlist with the following properties:Â
1) Every time I play it, it selects a different random set of songs.
2) The playlist plays for a fixed duration, then shuts off. (I like to go to sleep to music, but it wakes me up in the middle of the night if it plays for too long.)Â
The best I've been able to come up with is to set "not played in the last xx days", "Limit to yy minutes selected by random", and "live updating". However, there's a problem with this: as soon as one song has played, it's purged from the list, which causes live updating to replace it with a new song. As a result, this creates a list that plays forever, since new songs are continuously added to replace the ones that have been played.Â
I tried turning off live updating, but then I'm stuck with the same songs over and over. I also know about the trick of just using "select random" and deleting the contents of the list, so that live update will repopulate it, but that won't work on an iPod without doing it in iTunes and then re-syncing.Â

On the old version of quicktime there was a option in the preferences to start the video playing straight away
In this new version on snow leopard, when you double click a video, quicktime loads it but you still need to press play.
I can't see a option anywhere to make it play vids straight away.
I just noticed something in iTunes 8. In the Advanced drop down menu, you can now create iPod or iPhone and Apple TV versions of the videos you have in iTunes. However, the only video I can import are already iPod ready.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am a new Mac user, and I bought a mac for the main purpose of video editing. However, all my files are MPEG2, and so far, I have had a very frustrating experience with trying to figure out how to play it back on Quicktime with Audio. I downloaded Pro, as well as the MPEG2 add on. It plays video fine, but can someone please tell me how to get it to play audio step by step?
Lastly, I have Final Cut and iTunes and audio won't play with the video there either. I am assuming once I have it fixed in quicktime, it will work in all other programs too?
Does the new Quicktime capture on screen video with sound? If not is there a way to do it? Other good reliable programs out there that do what I am looking for?
Is it supposed to do that or is it just a bug? Like when you click to seek further than 30 seconds, it pauses the video so you have to constantly press play to see what part of the video you are on. It's a bit annoying, and there's no preferences for it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running a Macbook 2.4GHz with 4GB of RAM and Snow Leopard.
I have an issue using Keynote 09.
I have created a presentation that has a m4v video playing in the background.
The video was the first thing I put in and was just placed on the slide and set to play when the presentatation starts.
The video starts at the beginning automatically and plays for the entirity of the presentation. The presentation is only 2 mins long. Over it are a number of different words all with various animations. There is also a music file playing in the background.
I have then recorded the show with manual timings and now when I play it in Keynote it runs smoothly from start to finish. The video continues to play and the transitions are smooth.
HOWEVER, when I then try and export the presentation as a Quicktime file I encounter a problem. The video starts initially at the beginning of the presentation but the minute any other animation kicks in the video freezes and does not restart. I have tried a large variety of export settings but to no avail. I have also spent time trawling the internet to try and solve this problem but no solution found.
It is very frustrating. I need to export it because I need it as a movile file rather than a keynote presentation.
I'm looking for a easy to use video format converter to format a ".m4v" file to a format that iTunes or Quicktime will recognize.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just ripped some TV episodes from DVDs I have with Handbrake, only to realize that the episodes dont have chapters. This means that since the Create Chapter Markers or whatever button was checked, I still get a chapters button, with only one chapter. I wish Id just unchecked it, but at this point, is there any way to just remove the chapters?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had this problem quite a while now:When I open an .avi file it automatically opens using QuickTime. I'd like that because it's the best player for Apple. The problem is however that I can only hear the sound, there's no image/video.I use 10.7.2. (now updating to 10.7.3), but it already did this before I had OSX Lion installed. If I search for new updates it doesn't come up with an update for QuickTime.Any other player works (although VLC's the only one I tried so far).

I want to create a simple flash movie (I don't yet own or know how to use Adobe Flash). Pretty flowers in the background, inspirational music, passages from the Bible or something fading in an out... you know the schtick. Maybe convert it to a screen saver.
