I need help getting the correct CODECs in order to play video files. (mpeg-4,avi,wmv,divx,etc..) The video show up perfectly but audio doesn't. This happens normally with movies the I download.Â

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an older Macbook Pro 2.33 ghz and lately when I've been watching videos on Youtube, Megavideo, etc. the video will become choppy and the sound becomes distorted and gargled. This problem is becoming increasingly annoying (just about everyday) and I don't know what is wrong. I've noticed that this happens when the computer gets really HOT. I usually have to shut the computer so that it goes to sleep and cools down for a little while. When I reopen the computer the video usually plays fine for a while. Anyone else experience this problem or know of a solution?

I have a .mov file of a 16:9 programme that was in 4:3 full height anamorphic 720 x 576, so i opened it in QT7 pro and changed the frame size to 1024 x 576 so it plays in 16:9. All works well in QT7Pro but if movie is played in QTplayer 10 it plays back in 720 x 576 again. How can i make the movie retain the correct aspect ratio for any QT player?

itunes will not play mp3 files that quicktime plays. I've dumped the files into itunes and added them via add to library. Opening with quick time the files play fine.Â

I listen to and watch a lot of podcasts. Quite often, after I am done listening to a Audio Podcast I will watch a video podcast. Some times it gets stuck and won't play the video but plays audio fine. Anyone else have this problem?
View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently, my quicktime (with Perian installed) stopped playing AVI files - giving me the whole 'The movie is in a format Quicktime doesn't understand' business. This made no sense to me as AVIs were playing fine previously. Nothing I did could fix the problem. HOWEVER, just today I plugged in an external monitor to test something out; lo and behold, quicktime is playing AVI files just fine again. What's going on?! Has anyone seen this behaviour before?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am a new mac user and a sound similar to the "Frog" sound effect keeps playing at random times and with no apparent reason. It just plays and at different times...Sometimes it's every 20 seconds, sometimes more or less. I disabled the sound in System Preferences and it kept playing. I don't know what else to do since i'm new with mac I also reseted the PRAM and it stopped for a while but now it started again. I've noticed that most of the times it sounds when i'm charging the battery, i don't know if it has something to do.

When I turn my Mac on it goes through the boot up process and as it about to come to the desktop image it selects the HD Mac as if I had pressed it with the mouse and then starts the cancel sound bonging away until I press the escape button on the keyboard.This normally keeps it at bay. Although on occasion it suddenly selects it again and starts playing the cancel sound again. When I unplug the keyboard it doesn't make that sound at all. I hate the wireless keyboard but wonder if I buy another wired one will it start making the same noise again?

I listen to something on my ipod. I plug the ipod into my computer. In itunes, on the ipod, I can see the track I listed to has number of plays 1. That track in the library on the computer fails to get any plays next to it. Why? Why does this stuff never really work properly? I'm sure it used to work, but I could be wrong. It's not working now. Plays on/from the ipod don't get registered on the computer. This means I don't know which tracks I've listed to and which I haven't.
I have a DVD with a video on it that plays fine on a PC but on my Macbook Pro it says that it's a blank DVD and will not play the video that is on the disc. The video plays on Windows Media Player when I open it on a PC, so I installed the newest version of Flip4Mac thinking this would work, but the disc still shows up as a blank disc and cannot be played. I work in the legal field, so I got the DVD from an attorney, and I frequently tend to have problems opening videos on my macbook pro that come from the legal field. Having an odd problem with Front Row. I have a G5 w/ dual 2GHz processors running the latest of Leopard. I've seen a lot of complaints about FR with laptops, but not much with towers. The menu system and interface works fine, but when I select a trailer to view, it comes up, but no video, only audio is playing. On other boards, some have said that it gets flaky with dual-monitor set ups, which I have. Does anyone know if Apple is aware of this problem and is trying to work a solution? Is there something I can do on my end to coax it into working?

I'd like that because it's the best player for Apple.The problem is however that I can only hear the sound, there's no image/video.I use 10.7.2. With an influx of Dolby Digital enhanced HD content making its way to the iTunes store, and subsequently Apple TV, Apple is reportedly working on an update to QuickTime that will improve support for 5.1 channel audio. People familiar with the matter say the Cupertino-based electronics maker tapped its vast developer community on Tuesday to begin testing versions of QuickTime 7.6 for Windows, as well as both Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger and Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.
The pre-releases, which reportedly carried build number A26, ranged in size from about 20MB to over 60MB, but were consistent in that they delivered the same series of enhancements requiring evaluation. In particular, those familiar with the software say Apple has requested that developers test the release extensively with multi-channel encoded audio tracks that feed unique content to each surround sound channel. Developers were also asked to put some weight on MPEG-1 playback and conversions, as well as encoding and playback of audio tracks in the AAC and Apple Lossless formats.

I am trying to watch a .avi file, and there is no sound for the particular clip.
However, other .avi files are working and give both video and audio.
this one however is only producing video. is there a plug-in or something i need to download?
I have this feeling that the forum veterans have likely heard this many many times. So if you have I apologize in advance, I've been hacking away at this for weeks off and on and haven't been able to find an answer. Also wasn't able to find a solution through searching. So... here we go. Issue is, no sound from .mov files on my PC. On my MacBook, the .mov files play just fine, and play just fine on the AppleTV. This is my main media computer, so I store all my movies here (I like VisualHub and ffmpegx much better than anything on Windows I've seen. If anyone has suggestions for Windows, I'm all ears). All my new movies and TV shows are stored on the MacBook, and every now and then I do a move of all that I've watched to here on the Windows desktop where I archive my favorites and keepers. The only problem, is that all my .mov files have zero sound when playing on the PC, though fine on my Mac. So far, I've tried:
- Re-installing everything Apple (even Bonjour)
- Installing all Quicktime components suggested on the site (link)
- installed CoreAAC-1.2.0.573
- installedK-Lite Codec Pack 4.4.2.0
- I also extracted the .aac to .wav to try another format.. the result was 2 hours of dead air
- I also tried the trick with the new update for the AppleTV in inserting a sub 1 sec clip if an .ac3 file into the .mov
- also no sound playing them through VLC
I have seen a couple posts about Quicktime for Windows unable to play HD vids, but a) not all my .mov are HD b) sounded like all the issues were video related.
Having difficulty with a .ram file. I want to convert it to use with Quicktime. I also have realised however that my pupil for a lesson (the file is for language-lesson) does not have a Mac anyway, so maybe she won't have Quicktime. I can ask her to download the latter then. how can I hear the soundfile and make it compatible with Quicktime?Â
