I was sent an e-mail with sound recordings attached. When I tried to open the sound recordings I got the message "Word cannot locate the server application for SoundRec objects". Do I need to download an application onto my imac G5,version 10.3.9, 1.8 Ghz?
View 6 RepliesWhen I am recording with the built in cam (isight) in imovie ("capturing" the video), there is no sound. I have gone through and looked at all input settings on the mac and in the application. when I pull up the settings box, I can even see the sound "bars" go up when I make noise. But no noise in the recordings.

I have lots of stuff recorded in local studios with various vocal quartets as well as stuff done on my 4 track and eight track recorders, my problem is that when I try to download them into iTunes (all now on CD) it does not see them as individual recordings (even when the album title and song info is on the original disc as in studio recordings and some of my home recorded stuff). The result is that I record the first album without a problem and give it a title, then, when I download the second album it simply adds it to the first, so that the first track of the second album starts with the next number after the last track of the first ie the last track of the first album is say 14, the first track of the second is 15.
More to the point I cannot give the second album it's own name and the only way to access it is bring up the first album and select track 15. I am sure this is because they are not 'Professional' recording even though they were made in pro studios, the titles do not appear in any search lists. Load my non commercial CDs into iTunes in such way that I can access them as individual recordings and not just a giant list of everything that I have recorded in my lifetime. For the record I might add that I think the whole iTunes programme is counter intuitive and a complete pain in the nether regions to navigate, but I will put up with it since it is one of very few things that get me down about my Mac Pro.
How can I make it so that ITunes doesn't get the voice memos or voice recordings from my iphone 3g and ipod nano 5th gen.

This is great for my needs, except for one thing: They're too big. It makes life-size recordings of my entire 1,900 x 1,200 screen, and the files seems to come out around 11 megabytes per minute of video. I don't see a way to resize the screen capture videos to a smaller size, in Quicktime Player. Is there a way?

Over the past few months I've taken to recording my weekly supervisor meetings because I've got such an awful memory that I'd forget everything otherwise. Ideally I'd like to have an app with which I can store these recordings but in which I can also add a text description so that if in the future I need to refer back, I know where to look. I'd just want something with a list showing:
28th August - Discussed conference, ideas about x, plan to run simulations varying y and z
4th September - Discussed work on writing w routine, discussed initial x results.
I realise that chances are there's nothing simple enough to do this kind of thing for me and so I might have to resort to something far more bulky and so I'm open to options for more bulky things.

I have a Mac OS X version 10.5.7 i am working on Word 2008 for Mac, version 12.0.1 (080305).
My problem, i created one text box in a document, somehow 2 more appeared. I made the mistake of thinking that to delete the extra text boxes, i simply highlight them and delete them. Silly stupid me, nothing that simple exists and i have wasted an hour trying to figure it out. The help button does squat, barely gives you any info on a text box much less trying to delete it. Does anyone know how to delete a text box in a word document?

As I am sure you all know text edit sucks.But it automatically opens all my RTFs.I have to manually get word to open them which is a pain in the ass.How can I fix this so that all RTF's are automatically opened by WORD?I am still on the old version of word because I have to use ENDNOTE - which has no support for Word 2011 right now. View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm faced with the daunting task of migrating from Panther Server to Leopard Server. The present server is the Primary DNS serving several web sites (some of which is running MySQL databases). I have the luxury that we've bought 2 new Xserves last year, but due to time constraints, I haven't time until now to seriously consider the steps to this daunting task. We're also currently using a linux box for the firewall (it does no routing, just iptables rules). I want to migrate away from this also and utilize either Apple's firewall or a router. Is there anything out there on the web that will help me in this process? I'm terrified of messing up the production environment, especially since the Xserve is our DNS.
