Applications :: Won't Work With Final Cut / Can't Work With Dissolve And Colors
Jan 26, 2009Just made an image slideshow in Final Cut.
Just a bunch of images and some audio.
When I export via File > Export > Quicktime Movie..., the cross dissolves between images disappear when I watch the movie in Quicktime.
When I export via File > Export > Using Quicktime Conversion... the color looks horrible in the Quicktime movie.

Software :: Final Cut Pro 4.5 Won't Work
Dec 25, 2007I just received a new MacBook Pro for Christmas (very excited) and I had the Apple Production Suite for my old PowerBook G4. I just got finished installing Final Cut Pro 4.5 on the new MacBook Pro and now it will not work. When I try to open the application a message pops up on the screen reading:
"Configuration error
This software requires certain hardware or software which is missing.
-AGP Graphics Card"
Now if I'm not mistaken the older version of Final Cut Pro is supposed to work with the new MacBook Pros even though their internals are different. If I'm wrong, then I have a bit of a problem. Have any of you had this problem or similar ones? I'm just wondering what I can do to fix it, I should also note that LiveType and Soundtrack are working fine, it's just Final Cut Pro.

Final Cut Pro X :: 10.1.2 - Transitions Don't Work
Aug 27, 2014Today I started my computer and launched FCPX, just like pretty much every day of the past 3 weeks. All of a sudden, I can't apply Cross Dissolves (or any other transition) to any clip. I constantly get this message:
I know that my clips need handles in order to make a transition work, and that is totally the case... in some cases, there are 3 minutes of footage before AND after the part that is in my timeline, so I don't see any reason for this message to appear. Also when I click on the "Create Transition" button, nothing happens.
This really grinds my gears and I have absolutely NO clue what could cause this problem. I googled for hours and reset pretty much everything there is to reset - without success.
I'm still on 10.1.2 because I'm editing a big project and I don't want to risk it being delayed/damaged by problems with the newest version.

1) Will Final Cut Pro 6 from FCS2 work? If so, any issues, and will I see a performance increase/decrease? (I have 8 cores dual ati 2600's)
2) Will Quicktime pro carry over when I install Snow Leopard? And Will it use all 8 cores?
3) Will Final Cut Pro 6 have an issue with the new quicktime?
4) Will visual hub, mpegstreamclip, or Handbreak be incompatible with snow leopard?
5) Will my final cut pro projects that I created in leopard, still work when I install snow leopard?
6) Will Word 2003 work with Snow Leopard?
I use my mac pro to make a living, should I risk installing Snow Leopard if Leopard works fine? Or do you think I should wait?

Feb 6, 2007I recently got enough money to by a referbished Powermac for my starting out edditing buisness. Right now we use a mac mini G4 with 512megs of ram(its bad) and a macbook ro with 2gb of ram and a 2.16GHz proccesore.(It runs really fast) Anyway i want a stationary desktop to do my edditing on and i dont want to buy a mac pro because of price and i really dont like the type of ram it uses. So here are my thoughts for an editting ccomputer and i would like your help in making my desition.(Oh and if it matters i will be edditing HD Films on it)

eather one is fine for me i just want somthing that will outperform my macbook pro and allow me to retire my mac mini. Oh and des ram really make a huge differance in final cut pro from 2gb to 4gb.

Aug 6, 2006I need a new laptop and I've decided to make the move from PC to Mac. I think the thing that's bothered me most about the dell laptop I've been using for the past 4 years is that it's quite heavy (I think somwhere around 8 pounds) and bulky.
I fell in love with the powerbook 12", but held off in part for financial reasons, and in part because I was hoping there would be a 12" macbook pro.
I hear great things about the macbook, but trying it out in the store, it seems to be just as big as my Dell and almost as heavy (well, at least quite a bit heavier than what I remember the 12" feeling like).
at $1199, apple is offering a refurbished powerbook which seems to offer as much if not more than the macbook
I'm a comic book writer that travels quite a lot, so here's what I'd like:
To be able to use MS Word and Final draft
To be able to use photoshop (really just to open photoshop files, not to do much to the artwork itself)
To have something very light to travel with, but still big enough to do a significant amount of work on without straining my eyes or feeling like the keyboard is cramped
and I guess possibly to play games, notably civ iv, although it seems neither the powerbook or the macbook is good for that (the powerbook at least has a dedicated videocard)
it's mostly the size thing that's causing the hangup...I think the macbook is just big enough to be a problem on planes, not fitting on the fold out tray.

Jan 30, 2008So i bought a 3.50 cable from ebay that plugs into the back of my Powermac G4 and allows it to be put on a tv via svideo or composite vga to svideo/composite so i plug it in and i get nothing on the TV so like idk what i did wrong i adjusted the video on the Powermac to 800 x 600 (or the smallest it would go) and i still get nothing except for a black screen?

I have downloaded the latest macam and installed it, dragged the component over to the folder, and copied the component into the library/quicktime folder. When I open macam it recognizes that I have the ps3 eye hooked up, but the screen is black. Skype and yahoo also recognize the camera, but the cam monitor screen is black. I really want this to work, and have seen many posts from people with the emac/eye/macam combo and a lot of people have said it works.

Jul 25, 2010I asked this earlier but, never a decent answer and a few people asking if I have PCI-X and PCI-Express mixed up which made no sense for what was being asked.
I have a PCI USB2.0 card rev2.2 that I removed from my old G4 MDD.
I upgraded to a used G5 2ghz DP (M9032LL/A) system which has "three open full-length PCI-X slots: one 133MHz, 64-bit slot and two 100MHz, 64-bit slots" from what the specs on [URL] says.
I was told that a PCI rev2.x card will work in a PCI-X slot but when I tried the system didn't even power on.
So... should it work? does it matter which PCI-X slot? or was that guy confused between PCI-X and PCI-e?
Hoping it will work because 3 USB ports isn't enough when you have a WACOM, Scanner, Printer, Mouse, Keyboard, USB Drive, etc...

Jan 23, 2008Today I accidentally turned off my iMac by mistake (pressed off button twice while in sleep mode). And when I try to boot it when it comes to the little mac logo it says "this boot up disk does not work with this mac please restart I press restart and it says the same thing, also when it turned off with an os 9 in it and when I booted it I definatly did not press down c. I think it maybe the hd or is it possible to change boot priority?
